What about instead of 1d6 dismiss maybe a once per cast 5-foot burst that doesn't hurt the caster. The shield wouldn't be dismissed and have it do 1d6 for every 2 caster levels up to 5d6. Is scales shower than shocking grasp but could help when things get too crowded.

Bullying blow

As a standard action, you may make a melee attack with a –2 penalty on the attack roll. If the attack damages your opponent, you may make an Intimidate check to demoralize that opponent as a free action.

Hurtful

When you successfully demoralize an opponent within your melee reach with an Intimidate check, you can make a single melee attack against that creature as a swift action. If your attack fails to damage the target, its shaken condition from being demoralized immediately ends.

My question is simple. Could you tether these together to make two attacks at level 5?

A final question. As a wizard you don't have proficiency in short swords but scroll blade says that you are proficient in that weapon so could I take weapon focus without needing to take simple weapon proficiency? And would it be weapon focus short sword or scroll blade?
