Hey guys.
Apologies on the missed time. We had a power outage that lasted for two days, and only just got power back this morning.
Gimme a bit to catch up and I'll be posting.

Male

Still raging, but knocked on his arse, Khalaros recovers his feet and sword, and moves back towards the Wolf. "I'm. Trying." he snarls as he moves.

Male

Question on the area affect. If we fail, are we prone or can we react after the tripping/damage?

Also, I already did my roll and got a 4, but accidentally closed the window, so before I start posting, I want to make sure what Khal can or can't do...

Hahaha, Khalaros, the horse's name is Victor, Bang! is me firing the gun.

ROFLMAO. Ooops.

Male

Khal roars in frustration as Vi and Bang stumble back into him, thumping him hard, backwards. So much so, that for a moment sees red, and his anger overwhelms him, sending him into a rage!

Rage: Free Action, +4 Str 16(20), +4 Con 14(18), +2 Will saves, -2 AC, HP 14 (16)

Practically snarling, Khalaros bolts around the steed, and as he moves, his cold-iron falchion all-but sings as it leaves it's wood and leather sheath, and the huntsman roars as he swings it down in a wide arc at the small air elemental near his quartering companion.

Falchion Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Falchion Damage: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2) + 5 = 8

Male

Understood. :)

Male

Though at first surprised by the appearance of an air elemental rather than a natural predator of some time like a bear or even a dire wolf, Khalaros growls and takes off at a run to try to challenge the creatue!

However he holds back a bit when he sees his companions firing off ranged attacks, and then when he feels close enough, he lets fly with his handaxe!

Appreciate letting me get my first round action in. I won't take advantage of your good will, and will simply double move, and then move 30' more in the second round before attacking.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If he hits:
Handaxe Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male

Thanks Auggie. And thanks, Ox.
:)

Male

Ok...I'm dumb, apparently. How do I create a character token for this?

Male

"If that will help you sleep tonight, Malik..." Khalaros gives the innkeeper an arched eyebrow, "...sure. It's a calf bone."

The huntsman then moves to Kazell and Viatrix where he eyes the steed and murmurs, "That's a good horse..." Khal trails off as he surveys the area where the mount had noticed the path, careful not to disturb the area any more than necessary.

Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

The half-orc scowls after several minutes, knowing the eyes of his companions were on him. Finally, he withdraws and shakes his head, frustrated. "Nothing. I mean, there's something there, but I can make no sense of this. I am sorry, my friends."

Male

Khalaros moves at a moderate pace absolutely focused on the area in question, eyes and ears open. The half-orc even pauses here and there to sniff the air, and pick up leaves and twigs that are suspect. He glances at the others and sees them equally engaged.

"Even the smallest thing might be important, so if you see anything out of the ordinary, bring it up." His voice is always deeper than one might assume it to be, considering his build is more slender than many orcs or even half-orcs.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Male

Khal stands off to the side, arms crossed over his chest, looking over at the pigs and frowning at the smell of the beasts.

The mention of the missing girl is obviously more interesting to the half-orc than that of the missing soldiers, and Khalaros' attitude goes from distracted irritation to focused attention. He turns to take in the conversation between Kazell and Grim and Leesah. He liked them, mostly...and the loss of their child, any child for that matter, was hurtful.

How do our knowledge rolls play in here? Did any of us know anything?

Male

Khalaros gives the quarterling a grin and a nod, "Glad to have you along, Vee. Mayhaps Malik will give a pint or two on the house when we're done!"

With that, the huntsman hurries off at a jog, his aim to catch up to the innkeeper and Kazell before they found Augustus. Best to find him with the group rather than alone. The man just put Khal's nerves on edge...not that he was a bad sort, but he just always struck the barbarian as...odd.

"Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up sometimes..." he mutters to himself, then involuntarily shudders.

Male

Sorry for your loss. Sincerely.

Male

I sent Viatrix a private message to say that we've started. :D

Male

So, not sure if the character is active yet, but where might Khalaros find Viatrix? :D

Male

Regardless of the results, Khal responds in the negative to the Brigadier General

Khalaros shakes his head slowly, as if thinking, and says, "No. Can't say that I have, Malik. "The huntsman moves slowly across the inn, politely pardoning himself as he passes soldiers, and stacks the wood to the side of the fireplace.

The half-orc listens as the innkeeper addresses Bartholomew and nods, as much to himself as them. "I'll get my gear and meet you in a bit. I'll see if I can rustle up Viatrix along the way."

With that, Khal nods to the room, and moves outside, taking long stides to the small house that doubles as his Mother's home as well as her apothecary.

Inside, he collects his pack and straps on his studded leather, then slings his quiver and bow over his back. He pauses at the mantle over the cottage's small fireplace, seeing his father's falchion hanging there. His falchion, now. It's hilt was curved and unadorned, and the pommel of the weapon was weathered and looked well-used, but the huntsman knew the truth of what lay inside the aged sheath...A cold iron blade with a wickedly sharp edge that seemed never to dull.

Khalaros takes down the blade, almost reverently, and straps it on as well. He then hurries out the door and keeps an eye out for Viatrix as he tries to catch up to Malik and Bartholomew.

Male

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 18
If somehow Knowledge:Nature could be applied, and I doubt it does, that adds +3

Male

The door to the Burning Thirst bumps loudly open and a dark-haired, well-muscled half-orc backs into the Tavern with a almost a dozen wooden logs stacked in his arms. He is dressed in woodsman garb, with a plain but servicable tunic over leather breeches and well-used, sturdy boots. "Hey, Mister Malik? I've got your wood here, probably enough for the day. I was thinking to get an early start so maybe later I can do some hunting while I'm out scrounging up plants and whatnot for my Moth..."

The young man trails off as he turns and sees the assembled soldiers confronting the innkeeper. "...ther. Everything ok here?" Wary, Khalaros makes no sudden moves and stops in his tracks, sizing up the situation.

Male

Understood. Just didn't want to stomp on any toes...'cept maybe the soldierss' toes. lol

Male

Is bringing in firewood for the hearth a good reason? I figure that being a barbaric, ranger-type, Khal gets up early on most days.

Agreed. We aren't even an active game at this point. Real Life First and all that. Be there for your grandfather. We'll be here when you can be here.

Male

Also, Khalaros is ready.

Male

Aw, sorry, Viatrix. We had a similar situation a couple of months ago with my Father-in-Law who passed away. Never easy.

* friendly hug *

Male

I'll have the final touches done on Khalaros tomorrow.

Silly question, perhaps, but for flavor: Do the sides have nicknames or distinguishing emblems or crests? i.e. The Redcoats for the British army, or anything like that? Something the common folk use to differentiate them?

I guess I'll dot in with the Tengu... never played one before, so should be interesting. And if she dies because she is too squishy, then I have a backup character already made. :)

Just realized I never replied to this. I think you picking this race is rather cool. First of her kind in the area/uniqueness. Tengu are roughly equatable to Kenku in D&D, yes?

I really like how this group, both in-character and out, is shaping up. Feels very much like a table-top group, and I look forward to gaming with you all. (For a long time, I hope!)

Reforging sounds cool, story and rp-wise, but the cold iron material factor concerns me. I would assume that would raise the dc quite high.

Ok. Looking for an opinion here. No wrong answers.

I've currently got Khalaros starting with a falchion which happens to be MW and made of cold iron, a gift from a starting trait.

I like it. No issues.

However, being realistic, I'm considering swapping it out for a similarly structured scimitar instead, as after first level, Khal will be going the two weapon ranger route. While a two handed weapon is always nice and will be useful for his first two levels, I'd hate to have this excellent weapon and have him not use it once he gains his weapon style.

Thoughts?

CS is done. Backstory still being written.

Quick Summary Version: Khal is the son of an orc father and a half-elf mother, and it shows, and he has some strong elf-like features. Up until this point in his life he's lived and learned his father's ways, but when his father went off with a mercenary company to join the war effort, (Ahh, but which side, eh?), Khalaros and his mother moved to Burrowdar, mostly for her safety. She has some skill with herbalism as has opened a small shop from which she sells simple potions and curatives. Khalaros often ventures off into the woods looking for components for her while he hunts for rabbits and venison, and he sometimes sells the skins in town. During the winter he has acted at a bouncer and laborer at the local tavern as needed. (If that's ok with Malik)

Mr Nevets here, and this will be my login for this game, as Khalaros.
