I have a group that's getting a bit bored with the standard 4 classes. They're asking me if there are classes that could be skipped in lieu of some more interesting support roles in more recent books. What base classes do you feel, if left out, would portent failure for the group? What base classes do you think could be skipped? Lastly, are there any you feel could be multiclassed, such as the rogue, and not get them into trouble?

I'm also a little worried about allowing a druid and ranger in the campaign after briefly skimming through the modules and not seeing much in the way of wilderness scenarios.

No, I didn't count the beholder in the list. I see now what you mean about possibly not encountering everything, but our group has a tendency to be thorough :) After all, missed rooms means missed loot. Plus, I give XP after every encounter. It allows me to announce XP, apply it in DM Genie to all characters, and move on.

Thanks for the responses.

I ask because I have gift certificates there :)

Will we be able to order it from amazon?

I'm starting a campaign with the Shackled City and I may end up with 6 characters. I was concerned with XP, so I tallied it up for Life's Bazaar as if there were the normal 4 charactes. By the time the adventure was over, I came up with 5th level characters! The module says you'll "approach 3rd level." Why are people saying that there isn't enough XP? Am I counting something wrong? I can show my work if necessary.
