guess this one is dead...I will be removing it from my active games...send me a PM if it starts up again...was really enjoying it!
Oh, ok. Good thing lol
Observation: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Why do the dice hate us, by Crom!
Observation (16/3): 1d20 ⇒ 17
Kern stops to listen, but the sight that had just unfolded before him had the warrior slightly rattled.
"Indeed, my thoughts exactly. Lets go, but cautiously..we still do not know what we are getting ourselves into!'
"We go, but you princess must stay here and hide! We will come back with her, or make the creatures pay in blood."
Observation 16(3): 1d20 ⇒ 8 1d20 ⇒ 17
Gaius points vaguely over in one direction which helps Kern narrow down the location of the screams, but he still cannot pinpoint it. He looks over to Signey for any insight she may have.
Just 1 more success..Gaius are you not suppose to roll 2 d20's?
"Indeed, I shall watch over you as well M'lady. You shall be the bringer of light to a dark place, and we shall be your avenging warriors. Now then, anyone else care to join us?"
"Well now what? Do we descend to our Doom to rescue this damsel, or cut our losses and take the prince and his bride out of here? For myself, I would hunt this beast and remove its foul stench from the land. What say you?"
Kern hefts his blade as he turns to see what the others have to say.
Survival (17/3): 1d20 ⇒ 17 1d20 ⇒ 5
Observation (16/3): 1d20 ⇒ 9 1d20 ⇒ 6
Note: Kern reduces the difficulty challenge by 1 due to Hunter background, I think
Once the prince is tended, Kern starts to cast about to find any trace of where these fiends might have taken the girl. He listens to the tale with half and ear, and when Signey speaks, he stops and look towards her.
"I am not sure we can do much against such evil, but I am not willing to leave an innocent girl in their clutches. Let us track these beasts and at lease see where they are and if the girl is still alive."
Healing (9/2)
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
With some knowledge of battlefield first aid, Kern assists Signey in trying to keep the prince alive.
Not sure if there is an 'assist' action, but I have 1 success to add to the pot!
"By Crom!", the warrior breaths as he sees the ruined body of the prince. He assists Signey in anyway possible, attempting to save the poor man who obviously fought hard to live...taking many a foe with him. Kern is impressed with the prince's fortitude and skill.
Observation (16/3): 1d20 ⇒ 11 1d20 ⇒ 5
Looks like the prince was here. I will look for tracks and see if I can tell where he has gone."
Tracking (17/4): 1d20 ⇒ 8 1d20 ⇒ 11
Wow, ok...I did not see that!! Thanks for the update. I was thinking more of shortening our trip to the others, rather than needing to find the tracks (as per Tracking Trait), but this is fine too...I don't want to rush anything and miss some fun encounters..lol
Grunting, Kern takes hold of one of the mounts and pulls himself up into the saddle.
Before he mounts, Kern searches the jumble of tracks to ensure they go in the correct direction.
Asking the group - I can use tracking to find a shortcut to get to the main party, but it will cost either 2 Momentum or 2 Doom to do. What are your thoughts?
Also talents like Born Wild and Hunter can help with food and water when you are in the wilderness.
Kern scouts the area and makes sure noting is trying to sneak up on them.
Do I get to roll for parry against the attack against me? If so I will add it below before my attack
Acting quickly as Gauis attempts to bury his ax in the leaders skull, Kern flips his ax up and attempts to disembowel the closest foe.
Melee 15(5) Reach 2: 2d20 ⇒ (11, 11) = 22 1 hit plus +1 Momentum (?)
Damage: 7d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 5, 3, 1, 4) = 23 4 damage plus 2 effects for vicious (+2) and intense (+1) = 7 total damage
Kern walks towards the two groups and stops beside Ahmergane.
"Well now this is a pretty picture. You know if any harm comes to the lass you will die, right? So lets make this simple...take what you want, but leave the girl to us. What do you say?"
Smiling, Kern looks the woman over.
"You are pretty lass, I'll give you that, but now is not the time for such thoughts. I am just cautious is all...who knows it might be a trap. Lets be wary as we join our impulsive friends."
Kern disengages his arm from Signey's as they approach the location where the screaming came from.
Kern shakes his head at the others as they run forward. He looks over at Signey and offers her his arm.
"Shall we?"
Soooo...whats happening? Any updates??
Actually you want a low roll.
You roll 2d20 and compare the individual rolls to your modified skill. The modified skill number (which is your target number) is the total of the attribute and experience. For example, my survival target number is 17 (Awareness Attribute=13 + Skill=4 equals 17). So any roll on the 2d20 under 17 is a success. If I roll a 1 it counts as 2 successes, so on my roll above I actually got 4 successes (not the 2 that I posted).
You always roll a minimum of 2d20, but sometimes abilities and such may allow you to roll more.
So on your roll Domi, your Target Number (TN) for Willpower would be 8, and your TN for Survival would be 12. You would need to roll below those Target Numbers (TN) to succeed. You need to roll one more d20 for each test and hope they are below your TN
I hope that made sense... :-)
Discipline (7): 2d20 ⇒ (12, 19) = 31
Survival-tracking-1 (18): 2d20 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Looking over the field of dead, it reminds Kern of the slaughter of his own people by the Picts. He turns away from the sight, slightly shaken by the whole affair.
To take his mind off the dead, he casts around to locate any tracks that might give them some idea where the army has gone, and where the envoys fled.
Lore (TN-7): 2d20 ⇒ (17, 8) = 25
Warfare (TN-8): 2d20 ⇒ (7, 5) = 12
"The army will travel to the oasis for there is no place else for them to resupply. I think we should stay away from that place for a few days at least. Let us hunt this treasure first...gather up as much water you can carry and let us go!"
It depends on your stat level. Look below for the rule.
Attribute Bonus
8 or less None
9 +1§
10 or 11 +2§
12 or 13 +3§
14 or 15 +4§
16 or more +5§
To determine the damage bonus for a given type of attack, compare the associated attribute for that type of attack to the table above.
TYPE OF DAMAGE BONUS
Melee = Brawn
Ranged = Awareness
Threaten = Personality
So for Kern, his bonus melee damage would be +3 for a Brawn of 13.
Kern sneers at Amar, but does nothing more. He rests on a rock as he watches others scurry around. He has already procured food and water before he came to this cleft in the landscape, so waits until they have finished their scavenging before heading off up the wadi.
Observation (TN=08): 2d20 ⇒ (17, 18) = 35
Well nothing observed, but also no complication...figures in a game I need low rolls I roll high...lol
Grunting in response to the Aquilonian's comments, Kern takes his hands off his axe handle and looks to the Khorajan for his response to Gauis' query. He still eyes Ahmargane with cold, dead eyes.
Kern looks to the two warriros and the girl who have invaded his area. Looking them over he pegs the girl as some sort of camp follower for one of the "princes", while the one warrior looks to be a real killer, the other seems too "soft" for warfare, but the blood on him tells a different tale.
"I am Kern apCul. I was a member of the Crimson Hand, and it would seem the last surviving one at that. By Crom do you call me a coward? I will gut you and leave you on this field for the crows to feast upon!"
He looks angrily at Ahmargane as he speaks.
What is your nationality Ahmargane? Would we be able to tell from your speech or clothing? Kern is most definitely a Cimmerian by his looks, speech and demeanor..lol
The Crimson Hand mercenary band is no more. Kern looked about him and realized that he was the last warrior standing in this part of the battlefield. The main battle had washed over their position, and now the troops of Satabus were scattered and retreating, which as he watched turns to a route.
Not wanting to bring horsemen to his position, Kern gathers up some equipment and rations, along with several water skins and heads towards the dry wadi not far from the battlefield. If he can just make it to the ravines he should be O.K. Others seem to be thinking along the same lines as him, for across the battlefield others are making their way to the same place.
He arrives and stops to take a deep drink and clear the taste of battle and defeat from his mouth. The others straggle in and some move on while others take time to check their equipment and examine the battle before deciding what to do next.
Crom! (better than a dot!)
I will keep the axe and forgo the rest. I will get weapon and armor stats up on my alias.
Here is my submission for this game with avatar. The background is at the bottom of the character sheet...hope it is ok.
