Read the guide about the Hexcrafter Magus and decided to play one for a pirate game. Tanked my Cha, but took traits to use Int for Diplomacy and Intimidate.
The Hexcrafter abilities are great, and I really like playing up the curse aspect of it as a Pirate Captain scaring his crew, but my favorite part about it has been roleplaying the low Cha but high social skill bonuses. So he talks a lot with convoluted speech patterns and knows how to manipulate the flow of a conversation to get people to agree with him even when they don't mean to, but anyone that spends more than five minutes with him absolutely despises him.
It has created a fun dynamic where his reputation is a fearsome murderous pirate lord, but the rest of the party knows that he's a bag of hot air and ignore him when he talks or openly belittle him when he's trying to play on his reputation for petty things. They let him be the leader because he's still extremely competent at managing their image and political maneuvering, but since he can't intimidate or trick them and values their help too much to kill them he has to put up with their constant disrespect and ridicule.
After awhile he actually grew really fond of them and when his number two (another PC who plays along with my antics) got her own ship he wouldn't go sailing again until he found a new first mate to make fun of his plans and question his intelligence.
