Interesting question...

If the rules don't specify, I would say the character would need to specify slug or pellets on the ammo for a shotgun.

I assume we are talking modern day shotgun and not a blunderbuss which never shot slug loads?

I would say you would designate your specific target that round for the spell to effect.

If you wanted everyone in area of effect to be hit by a spell that normally isn't AOE then you would have to house rule it.

imo, it would probably be a percentage rounded down among targets with the DC of the spell rounded down as well.

So to say, againts 4 targets each dmg rolled would be 25% of intended for each target with a DC to resist 25%. Normal DC of 12 would become a DC 9.

I'd have to think on it more but I'd do this off the cuff for a player just attempting it.

Get him Pathfinder because that is what he asked for. I started with AD&D 2nd edition and was sucked in really fast. I go that same sense with 3.0 but not with 4th or Essentials.

When I picked up Pathfinder and started reading... all of that immense anticapation to play and test my character came back.

Might just be me though. My rec is to get him Pathfinder Core Rulebook.

Hello all,

I have a player playing an alchemist.

Here’s the scenario. He wants to use Feral Mutagen in concert with a True Strike Potion to Disarm an attacker. So, if I am thinking about this right his CMB would be 20 + BAB + Str Mod + Size Modifer within 1 round.

Now, I am not sure he can do this because drinking a potion is a standard action and an attack is also a standard action. Would he have to wait until next the round after he drank the potion unless he dropped a hero point to gain another standard action?

Also, as an aside, I looked over but couldn’t find if monster attacks (bite + 2 claws) counts as being armed for the alchemist when attacking or does he suffer the -4 hit penalty for trying to disarm while unarmed?

Many thanks for any responses.

I just started running second darkness and will be running another after. If anyone in Baton Rouge is looking for a Pathfinder game to join then feel free to email me. armsandfury at(nospam) gmail.com.

So after having time for more RPGs after my 2 sons grew up a little, I started back with 4th edition. I was excited to play again and had a lot of carrier over roleplaying ability that I infused 4th with. Ya, that lasted about 6 sessions.

Then, I started wondering why I was playing 40k with my D&D figures. Then some folks at my FLGS talked to me about Pathfinder. I read over some online reviews and read some of the core rulebook.

2 days later and the whole set of core books is at my house.

I wanted to share the enthusiasm I have for Pathfinder and remind each of you the first time you cracked open the books and realized that our RPG hadn't died.

Thanks Paizo
