Keeyan leans back and chugs more of the ale as Sanga starts singing. He's tempted to create a jug of the Fireball Whiskey, but knows that the hangover the next day might be worse than tonight's singing!

When her singing comes to a pause he quickly fills a mug and passes it. "Just a little to wet your throat. Wouldn't want such a singing voice to get parched!"

Keeyan digs one of his rations out and nods to the halfling. I did some reading online after I bought these and wish I'd found some of the French ones. You know they put wine and bon-bons in theirs? I wonder how well it lasts though. Can you imagine opening the wine only to find it turned to vinegar 'cause it wasn't stored right!?!"

"Requests? Anything actually edible? I'm thinking that I want to pick up some canned fruit in actual juice at our next stop. Peaches maybe. Haven't had any in.... Well, must have been too long since I can't even remember!"

He casts his orison again to top off cups and settles back down. "If you don't mind my asking, what's your name and what brings your group out here? I do gotta say that you all are at least as interesting of a mix as we are!"

Keeyan glances to the halfling, surprised at the words. "Trade rations? Mine are really nothing special. Trail rations that could probably survive half the life span of an elf and not lose a bit of flavor. Nuts, dried fruit, something that resembles meat I think. Basically a cheap knock off of the military MRE's. Why would you want to trade? Bought two a few weeks ago and have avoided eating them so far!"

Keeyan looks up at the slab of meat and rises. "You had a successful hunt? I'll take a little bit then. We haven't been hunting yet so we've just got rations. Not exactly gourmet quality if you know what I mean."

Looking at the bones as he pulls a small portion from the slab he tries to identify the animal. Know-Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 "Venison?" He moves back to where he had been sitting and takes a taste.

Keeyan smiles as Edie corrects his words with her actions.

Hearing the crunch as he is filling mugs, Keeyan moves over to check out Klyto's hand. "A Cure Light Wounds might help a little for pain, but I'm afraid I don't have the more powerful magic needed to adjust the bones and joints back. Might just have to splint it for now and carefully work it each day until it's better." He glances at Sanga, "Friend Sanga, I think the rest of us will likely pass on the hand shake. I need my hands for any spell casting!"

Keeyan accepts the (painful) handshake, obviously wincing when the half-orc nearly separates the fingers from the hand. He looks for a place to sit, massaging and trying to flex his hand again. "Ouch! You've got quite the energetic handshake there friend. I think I'll need a bit of a pain killer for that, if you don't mind...."

If there's any real damage he'll cast CLW to repair.

Once he gets settled he sits his holy symbol mug down and carefully casts Create Ale to fill it. He takes a long drink from it, then glances at his new friend. "Perhaps you'd like a bit? If you've got a mug, Cayden Cailean can provide a drink for a truly heroic singer such as yourself!"

Having recently partied with a tribe of orcs, maybe the singing didn't sound toooooo terrible! Keeyan moves forward smiling. "Yes, New Friends. And with safety of numbers perhaps we can relax and party just a little. I am Keeyan Rayahn, priest of Cayden Cailean. May we join your group for the evening?"

Considering how important the reaction is, Keeyan uses his Prescience ability for a glimpse of the future, and an adjustment if possible....

Prescience roll: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Keeyan remembers the pain of the lance that had sliced him open and at first just wants to stay away from anyone.... But, "You've got a good point. Some friends in the area could be good."

Keeyan grins at Bella, hoping that she's kidding. When Edie adds her words he gets thoughtful. "Well, I didn't really have any tragedy, other than perhaps my loss of innocence and world view when I saw the squalor of New York, the rich and the poor.... It opened my eyes to the way of this world."

"As for a call to adventure!?! How about the love of the adventure? Learning things! Expanding your mind? I started as a wizard, specializing in divination because I wanted to know everything at once. But then I learned more about what everything really meant. Then I realized that there were other facets to magic and realized that I could be a Cleric of Cayden Cailean. And I can use my magic to help others and teach others about magic. But.... I also need to earn enough so I can do what I want, and that also leads to adventuring!"

"I'm fascinated with the stuff that Klyto plans to do with the metals and such, but that doesn't really get my interest, except knowing about it not doing it. I hope my explanation isn't too much of a disappointment. It is the real me...." ??

"What are your plans for the future? Are we all going to reach some point where you say 'OK. That's it for me! I've reached my goal of whatever so I'm leaving? If so, let us know so it won't be such a shock!"

Keeyan listens to Bella and Edie and shakes his head sadly. "Sad to hear all that. The first eighty years of my childhood was pretty easy. My parents are both accomplished magi and traveled a lot. They took me along to see the planes, or at least the 'safe' ones. When we got to earth I was shocked at how the humans treated each other and the other races. All they seemed to care about was accumulating wealth, and not just enough to live on! My parents had enough coin to live on, and to help others when they needed it."

"Anyway, we moved away from New York looking for slightly less dense populations. Then I found a job where I could earn a living wage.... Geek squad! Terribly boring though. Mostly try to undo the stupid mistakes that people did to their electronic things. I've quit that and applied to assist Professor Sen at the University. He's the wizard that helped me with my 'Fireball' wand."

"I know. And I have read stories of great wizards that learned to cast their spells in armor. Or maybe it was some very powerfully enchanted armor, I don't know. Maybe in a few decades I'll change my mind and try to figure that out too. But for now, maybe the Mage Armor spell. But the only Heavy Metal I'll be doing is the music!"

Keeyan considers Bella's question for a moment, obviously trying to frame his reply right. "Well, it's kind of like.... my cell phone isn't so much a source for my magic. It's a focus. I can.... cast without it, but there's a chance that the spell will fail. And the phone does let me cast one unprepared spell each day. Oh, And I have the Wand App on it."

"Really, it's like before technology when wizards used big heavy books, and wands or rings or something as a focus. Or they had a familiar."

"And the other, well, I've always liked to party.... and I just felt a connection to Cayden Cailean. He's kind of misunderstood by a lot of folks you know. He's a hero and rewards heroic behavior from his followers. The partying is a celebration of heroes! So anyway, I felt the connection so I prayed to him. And he accepted me as a cleric. I think the two are a good mix. Once I get strong enough I will become a Mystic Theurge, using Divine and Arcane power together."

Keeyan will gladly accept some healing from Bella's Hex. CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

"No need. Just a little sleep and I'll be fine for the morning. Besides, I've still got a couple of those in my bag." 2 Coca CloWa and 2 LaCures.

I was just trying to get some money from the little jerks! Wake us up! Stab me with a lance!

Edie was hurt too wasn't she?

Keeyan nods at the idea of sleep. He is far more mentally taxed than physical, but....

Probably should do the healing first though? I was still down 9. Anybody else? Does Bella have healing hex or something? I'll use my CLW app if needed. Don't want to use potions.

Keeyan quietly casts Detect Magic, Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21, pulls his "Fireball" wand out again and moves to about 20' from Klyto and the returned halfling. "What's the count in the bag?"

Not "aiming" the wand at anyone, but just holding so it is obvious in hand again.

Keeyan watches as the lances are taken away and some minor bindings are placed on the halflings. He glances at the wand and shrugs. Tired of playing the part he tries to do a mean grin at the halflings, "You know, it's been several days since I've 'burned' anyone. But I guess I don't really want to waste charges from this anyway. Antiques like this are hard to re-charge." He tucks it safely away again, then takes a few steps back to lean against a tree.

Keeyan watches for just a moment, then directs the other two to dismount. "Get comfortable. Your friend should be back soon with money to pay for the pain. Then you can get on your way. I would say that I don't want to use this, but...."

Keeyan looks hard at the halfling offering to go get some money. Maybe, but.... He slowly draws his wand. "Yeah. And your friends will be staying well guarded. If everything works out they won't be burnt to blackened bones by the time you get back. Now strip off your equipment! Quickly!!!"

Aiming at the one that mentioned a question Keeyan answers, "I said healing the damage that you caused would cost. I'd be just as happy having your heads on your lances to scare off future attackers, and letting your dogs go free. So what payment can you offer better than that!?!"

"Nope! You attacked us at night. Wounded a couple of us. It is going to COST! for the healing required. I suggest a quick answer before we finish and kill the three of you. I'll count to three while I load my bow.... Two.... !!"

Ready crossbow and aim at the stuck one....

Moving up by Klyto Keeyan holds his phone in one hand and intones arcane words, then send a mass of goo at the mount of one of the halflings.

Casting Adhesive Spittle on the mount of Blue. DC14 reflex save or he is stuck in place. If he saves he moves at half speed and takes other conditions similar effect to Tanglefoot Bag. Duration is 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 rounds.

I should be at -10. My roll for CLW was bad, but it can't be 0!

Seeing the melee having moved away from the vehicle Keeyan rolls out and back to his feet. He quietly casts a spell to decrease the pain of his injury, then yells a taunt. "I said we'd mount your heads on your lances, once we kill you. So don't run off! I'm right over here if you want to try again at me!"

Move action to stand, then cast cast CLW. (Bless exchanged) Windy Escape ready just in case any of them decide to charge me with another lance attack....

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Thanks! Drop and roll under the van for cover, then dismiss the fog. Set up a hex and pound by Bella and Klyto....

Keeyan considers his situation as any wizard type might do when confronted with a mounted enemy that just stabbed him with a lance.... He falls backward and rolls under the van.

Would that be a withdraw action? 5' step with a fall down? Not sure.

How do you work ending the Obscuring Mist spell? The spell description lists the Duration as 1 min./level (D). The (D) means that it is dismiss-able, standard action that does not provoke. Can I do that after I've rolled under the van?

I can't move myself. I think the Obscuring Mist is on top of me....

Didn't intend to say otherwise. Was mentioning for everybody. Actually a reach weapon can be used, but since you can't see the enemy it would be fighting blind.... unless you have some way to see through the mist. Had that with a different character! Incredibly powerful for rogue types!

"Ow!" "How was I supposed to know this jerk would charge blindly in here where we're going to kill him!"

"Let's be sure to mount them all on their stupid lances once they're dead! Let any new fools know better!"

I hate to say this, but don't forget the 20% miss chance for cover. Obscuring Mist Also, Reach weapons are a problem since you cannot see beyond 5'....

Well, we could have started up the vehicle and run them over.... Yes. Darkvision 60'.

Once the cloud obscures site Keeyan slips out through the door, stepping away from the vehicle. He listens mostly for sounds of an approaching rider, but watches too since he does have darkvision.

If one comes close enough and attacks, immediate action is Adoration from the Love subdomain. Will save DC13 to ignore the effect.

Hearing an object strike the vehicle Keeyan scans for enemies. Seeing riders closing he quickly speaks the words of a spell to blanket the area with dense fog.

"I see three riders closing fast. Wake up everyone!"

In case the link has issues, Obscuring Mist. 20' radius, 20' high cloud blocking all sight beyond 5'. Duration is 1 minute.

Did I see what they are riding? (or what they are?)

Keeyan does hear mention of "TMI for the guys".... and blushes a little before ducking his head back into the book. He might have mumbled something, or chuckled?, but it was very quiet.

Seeing the unexpected "Presto Cooker" Keeyan casts Detect Magic and scans the whole vehicle. Confronted with a variety of auras he returns to his seat and the set of manuals. Flipping through and finding the information about "Accessories" he settles back for some light reading, until he nods off....

"Don't all of us have darkvision? No humans here.... Sleeping in the seat is surprisingly not as uncomfortable as I might have imagined...."

"Even if you rested I don't think you should take the whole night. Maybe just a short nap before dawn so you're fully rested? I didn't use any magic and don't need to change any spells out. But, I would prefer my watch to be the last for the night. I still need to do my prayers and such in the morning if I can."

Keeyan watches for any dangers ahead, but doesn't interfere with Klyto's direction.

Survival?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

When the road gets too rough to hold the book still Keeyan sighs, closes it and puts it away. He watches the road ahead and the ditch on his side of the vehicle.

Keeyan hears Klyto's question and starts looking around, then notices Edie scoot past everyone into the station. He shrugs and gets back up into the vehicle.... "I'm not sure where it is, but she's up and gone!"

Once it is obvious that Edie is awake, Keeyan does his best to disappear until she is out of the vehicle and headed inside. Once safe for that issue he scoots back up in his seat. He considers the snacks that he purchased and decides to open the corn crunchies now. They crunched really loudly and some people might get upset....

Once settled he opens the vehicle manual to the page that he had marked. While it technically wasn't magic he did find a lot of the information quite interesting. Maybe he could take a course at the university later?

Keeyan is startled by Bella's return. He turns to her, a bit sheepish. "She won't wake up! Could she be that tired? I haven't scanned for magic. Maybe she got cursed somehow?"

Keeyan looks at the quarterstaff, and back at where Edie is and shakes his head. "I should've gotten her phone number.... Then I could just call her from a 'safe' distance!"

Stepping up to the frame of the front door he sticks his head in and calls out, loudly but not quite yelling...."Edie! We're at a station. Probably the last for hours! Wake up! Pit stop! And check your messages. I think I heard your phone make a noise!"

He stays ready to jump out if he thinks that he sees an incoming attack....

Keeyan comes back from the store with a full bag of Snickers, Corn Crunchies and Cheese Puffs. He also has some paper towels stuffed in to wipe his fingers after he sucks the orange dust (from the Cheese Puffs) off of the tips. The bag 'clanks' a bit when he lowers it to the floor from two bottles of S'Mores Flavor cappuccino. He is sucking on a medium size, iced latte. "Won't have any of these where we're going!"

"Klyto, I'll stay with the vehicle now if you need to go!"

Keeyan looks up from the book, slowly realizing where he is. He can barely move his legs, which start hurting immediately once he forces them to flex. "Ow! Why do I feel like I'm over a hundred years old! I'm only 85!!! Ow! And I have to go to the bathroom, and maybe get a couple chocolate bars! And a double-sweet mocha latte! Don't drive off without me!!!"

"Hmm.... The manual? Sure. It would tell me how to operate things in this vehicle. Maybe even do some maintenance if needed!"

He searches for a latch to open what passes for a glove box and opens it. "Fun! At least two hours worth of reading materials. Now just to adjust the seat to something comfortable for reading...."

Actually a good idea for Keeyan. Keep him busy reading something!

Keeyan scans the dashboard, "Where's the big red button? It could be fun!?! Turbo boost? Or maybe rocket power? Or weapons!"

"Shot gun!" Keeyan climbs up in the front passenger seat of the big vehicle. "Actually I think this thing would be fun to drive, but my license wouldn't cover it. Maybe in the future I'll take some time to get licensed for trucks, buses and combat vehicles! And maybe training for fork lifts and cranes. Never know when we might have a job that needs something like that!"

Obviously excited and ready to roll....

Keeyan hears the bird squaking and shakes his head, "Need to teach that bird to drink!"

Keeyan just grins, "There'll be no burnt flesh from that wand! It's the one I got from the orcs. It took me a day working at the universary, where hopefully I'll get a job in the future, to figure out what it really did. I didn't want to risk it, considering the command word! But for me, a cleric of Cayden Cailean! now I just need to figure out how to cast the spell by myself!"

Keeyan looks the.... vehicle.... car is just the wrong word! over, and turns to Klyto and the mechanic. "Wow! Yeah, this is SO much better. I just can't.... Wait! Something for your next party maybe? Just as a Thank You!"

He pulls a wand case out of his pouch and aims at the floor slightly to one side of the mechanic. "Hoping you like whiskey? Fireball!" He grins as the jug of whiskey settles on the floor beside the mechanic "Enjoy!" and tucks the wand away again.

I'm ready

Keeyan thinks for a minute, "Yeah. I've got a few vacation days I want to burn before I submit my resignation anyway.... Wednesday sounds fine!"

As they leave he quietly adds, "Are we renting a vehicle again? We won't need heavy mining equipment or be hauling ore this time, so maybe just a sedan? Or should we take a bus to the closest stop and rent a car there.... ??"
