*nudge* Anyone out there?

Kavrik stands as the boat gets closer, then straps his shield to his back and grabs some of the rope. "Ready to go whenever you folks are. Anyone a decent free-climber to set the ropes?"

"I guess we will see what awaits us when we arrive. Expect the worst and hope for the best." Kavrik takes out his whetstone and begins sharpening his longsword.

Lets get on the damn boat and get this trek going!

Kavrik leaves some coins on the table, grabs his huge shield from it;s resting place against the wall and joins the rest as they head down to the docks to find the waiting vessel.

Kavrik sets his massive shield against the wall and grabs a seat as the food comes out. "The food is much appreciated, it has been a long day for me and this will more than suffice."
Turning to the others: "Is this a base of operations for you? A nice place to rest your head at the end of the day. How far is the trip to Thistletop? What kind of skills do the rest of you bring to this hunting party, some are a little bit more obvious than others." He meets the gaze of the large Shoanti tribesman.

"I see your points but just know that my concern is for the safety of the innocent folk here. If the rest of you believe that getting to Thistletop by boat is the best way then let us proceed and remove the head before the claws reach out and cut deeply again."

"As long as getting us there by boat means that we don't miss any potential bands of raiding goblins on the way. I have seen the devastation that this town suffered even with your blades and skills here to help out. If we sail on by another raid and the town is attacked again then what chance does the town have? We may have chosen a life of violence and danger but there are many innocents here that would have that life forced upon them." Kavrik wait for some response from either the group or mayor to support his speech.

Kavrik moves a step forward. "If Thistletop is where we need to go then let us go put an end to this threat."

Kavrik steps forward offering his arm in greeting to those who have just arrived. You see he wears darkened chain mail armor and has a shield that seems to be almost as tall as he is slung across his back but he moves as if it wasn't even there. "I have had more than my share of days of discomfort on military duty so I suspect that this will not prove to be an impediment to me. The name is Kavrik Doln and I would gladly offer my sword and shield to making this a safer place."

Kavrik looks around at those who have just come into the mayor's office taking a few extra moments to observe the giant Shoanti man.
"So you are one of the crews that is hunting the scourge that has affected this town? If you would have another blade to assist you in this task I would be more than willing to spill some goblin blood."

Kavrik wanders into town, hearing of the recent goblin attacks and now seeing the aftermath of the vermin's assault. His sizable frame, black hair and pale skin make his lineage apparent and a few of the townsfolk cross the street or enter buildings as he walks down the road. Kavrik calls out to a few and finally finds one willing to talk and give directions to the mayor's office. "hmm, folks seem to be a bit jumpy around here."
After a short walk he arrives in front, removes his dark grey helmet before climbing the few steps into the front door. "I really must see if I can get this armor and shield painted, the last thing I need to do is draw unwanted attention to myself."He steps in to the mayor's office, nodding to the Varisian standing off to the side.
"From the looks of it, you have had some rough times as of late. I understand that you may be looking for some extra help with the vermin control in the area."

How do you want to introduce the characters into the story?

Kavrik was raised in Cheliax, the son of a minor noble. He grew up admiring the fine military formations and impressive figures of the Hellknights, looking only to join their ranks when he became of age. After being accepted into the ranks of the Hellknight Armigers and spending 2 years doing the grunt work he was finally accepted into ranks of the knights. During his first assignment he was ordered to remove some farmers from their homes because they could not pay their debts. The farmers and neighbors raised arms against the trained knights and instead of just defending themselves and quelling this small rebellion, he was ordered to kill them, their families and burn their houses to the ground. Kavrik just couldn't fathom having to murder entire families and in order to try and prevent this slaughter actually ended up assaulting his superior and two other knights but the task was accomplished regardless of his actions. After this encounter Kavrik knew he had to run and so run he did, all the way to Sandpoint.
Kavrik is trying to keep a low profile to avoid being recognized by any Chelish agents but considering what happened with those families his conscience demands that he right the wrong he was part of by helping those in need.
