"I don't have low regard for people" said Katra in response to Cheshire's statement "I just don't sugarcoat what I have to say to worry about other people's opinions like other races do." At Sarya's comments, Katra said "I was just putting my opinion forward and explaining my reasoning. Didn't mean offense; in fact, I'm sure I said that twice. I will add, though, that I don't think any of you would necessarily make a bad leader, but I know and trust my brother and he's pretty trustworthy." "As far as not knowing Elves, I know that the typical tactic for Elves is shoot and move. It makes sense for your people, but we're not a Elves."

Note that I agree with you, but the problem is that no one has stepped up to offer to be the General, as it were, so Katra's just bulling her way through things, cause we really haven't had a post fight conversation and discussion about how things are going...before this one, other than "let's do better next time!" or "We all survived!". I'm not saying you're wrong, mind, I just think that you're bringing up the issue a lot of thrown-together parties have: we don't have a in charge person. With that in mind, see below: At Cheshire's question about forming a shield wall, Katra says "Forming a shield wall entirely depends on the man to your left and right; what hand do they swing their axe with? Are they significantly taller or shorter than you? Are they wielding a buckler or a tower shield?" As the discussion drifted to tactics, Katra shook her head and said "No, our problem is that we lack a general. It's all well and good to discuss tactics as a committee, but when the time comes we need someone to make the calls that need to be made. An army run by committee is a very Human idea, and Human ideas don't really last." She looked around, then added "No offense Orthos." "I vote for my brother. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and, more importantly, he's a Dwarf." After her last sentence, she held up her hand and said "No offense to you fey folk and Humans, but our people spend decades thinking about tactics, and I can't see an Elf spending decades doing any one thing, and most Gnomes are downright crazy (no offense). Besides, I think that most people here are willing to follow him, myself included."

Action 2: At Sarya's discussion of tactics, Katra says "So let's say they had reinforcements. Would that have changed the need to attack them? Should we have let them just march to where the refugees are located and murder them because we were outnumbered?" Katra shook her head and said "I say that the outcome would have been the same: either we fight them or we let them kill the refugees, regardless of the number of enemies there were." Katra let the rant subside, then continued with "I've said it twice now: we need to move the refugees to either a camp of our own creation, or to one of the major cities in the area. It's clear the Hobs know about the local landmarks in the woods and are checking them. Leaving a bunch of scared people alone at a location the enemy is going to find is a recipe for disaster. Moving towards a goal will also help keep them motivated, and once we get rid of them, we'll be able to move more freely and then we can start ambushing the Hob patrols with more impunity."

Brought to consciousness by Orthos' magic, Katra picks up her hammer and then stands, only to see that the enemies are all fallen. As before, a feeling of warmth suffuses her body from her hammer, and she says "Well, that's done then. Good work everyone!"

Sorry about the delay. I was without internet most of the weekend. Getting caught up now and will have a post shortly. EDIT: well, that's not great. AVENGE ME CONE! Death Save; using Inspiration: 1d20 ⇒ 21d20 ⇒ 8

Action 1: Katra was about to say some less than encouraging things to the survivors they were working hard to save, but then Cheshire began speaking, and even she had to admit that she could not have done better. Action 2: Every time the group had encountered enemies and she had not moved to engage them first, the group as a whole had suffered. In her mind, the situation was clear: She should always take point in any conflict. Thus, with a roar, she charged the Captain.

Katra was less than thrilled. She had taken one of the Centaur's apples, and after eating about half of it, had spent the entire combat forcing herself to throw up. Fortunately, Dwarves are rather resistant to poison, but it was still not a pleasant experience. She gave the horseman a kick and said "This is why we don't just immediately trust people. Ask questions first." She then kicked it again for good measure.

Sorry about not posting folks. As you may have seen me post in other threads, I was supposed to have internet at my new place on Friday, but Centurylink decided that I didn't really need it, and instead should wait til today. I'm going to do some catching up and then get a post up tonight.
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Action One: In response to Sarya's comment about the smart thing to do, Katra says "The smart thing to do isn't to all our comrades and friends to be murdered by filthy goblins." Katra also rested and allowed her wounds to heal some. Hit Die: 1d8 ⇒ 1 Action Two: Katra's eyes widened as the Centaur entered the clearing, her hand going for her weapon. After he spoke, she said "You got any useful skills? If so, we can bring you back with us. If not, probably best you go your own way."
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
As if she can read Sarya's mind, Katra shoots her an 'I told you so' look before turning her attention back to the Hobgoblins. "Thanks for the food, gobbos." she says mockingly. Stares intently at the one who shot her until his aura reveals itself, then moves into melee with him, swinging her hammer at his face. Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Action 3: "Again, I think we need to move further into the woods and make our own camp; either that, or we should plan to head towards one of the major cities, but whichever we're going to do, we should plan to do it today." As the food discussion took place, Katra said "I will give my portion to the refugees." Action 4: "Sarya asks a good question: who is driving this wagon."
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Katra doesn't say anything else when she gets to Kundvathalas. Scooping his wolven form into her arms, she moves him to where the other bodies were buried and begins to dig. As she does, she begins speaking in Dwarven: Dwarven:
"You, who are not of the people, have fought in the service of all." "Take your rest now, and ease your weary bones." "You have fallen so that others may stand." "And your light, though diminished, will guide us through dark caverns towards the sky." "May you ever stand in the land of your people, and know that you have the gratitude of those who you paid the price to save." "When you meet your god, tell him that you stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Dwarves and did not turn in the face of danger." "Should he deny you entry, tell him that he is unworthy of your sacrifice, as your soul is worth the weight of 22." As she lowers his body down, she pulls off her cloak pin and tosses it into the pit, saying "Proof that what you have said is real."
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Katra does not heed the man's advice; instead, she moves to each of the group members to check on them. When she reaches her brother, she is glad to see he still breathes. Turning back to Orthos, Katra says "Where did you come from, how many do you have with you, and what is your supply status like? We have a group of refugees that we are looking after, and while we would happily add you to our group, our supply situation is a bit precarious at the moment."

I switched to thunderwave to try and damage multiple enemies cause I had a couple of rounds of not hitting, plus by the time I did it was just me and Sarya. Katra stirred at the voice and then her eyes blinked and showed that there was a Human standing over here. She was surprised to be alive, and then she felt the now familiar pulse of tingling warmth from her hammer, which invigorated her. "And who are you, that you would call us friend? What happened to the accursed?"
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
I think we had some positioning issues and I should have moved over to the skeletons sooner, but I didn't want to leave Sarya fighting the skin thing alone. Katra summons more thunder hoping to drop the skeletons. Thunderclap: DC 12 Con Save: 1d6 ⇒ 3
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Now that Sarya was no longer next to her, Katra slammed her hammer into the ground and an explosion of force rips through the 3 skeletons next to her. Thunderclap: DC 12 Con Save: 1d6 ⇒ 5 force damage on a failed save.
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
I'll shield the first attack against me this round. Katra swung at the one threatening Sarya, hoping to bring one low. I'll target an injured one if there is one. Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
If it gets hit and drops: "I need to you not be next to me. I am going to unleash the magic of my hammer against them, and I don't want to harm you as well."
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
Katra turned just in time to see CHeshire die. She knew they would be coming for them next. She moved towards the fallen, planning to using herself to distract the skeletons from killing their downed companions. She ended her movement directly to the right of the southernmost skeleton. I know I provoke. She then turned her hammer on the creature, hoping that it fell. Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Okay, I'm gonna have to learn Eldritch Blast next level. I don't have any ranged spells! Katra rushes forward, making some progress but hampered by the dense foliage. Just double-moving diagonally 4 squares towards him.
HP: 19 (19) | AC: 16 | Saves: Str: +1; Dex: +0; Con: +3; Int: -1; Wis: +4; Cha: +4 Inspiration: [ ]
"Ha! As if a Hobgoblin could handle someone as pretty as me! Well, catch me if you can!" Katra then turns and runs down the cleared path for a bit before crashing into the woods and forming a battle line with her brother and Sarya.
