Three times every year the Gateway Rite of Passage is held. Anywhere between four and ten of the young adults of the town travel to the ancient temple outside of the town and spend a full 'day' there. It's a symbolic ritual, saying that they are willing to put the community ahead of themselves, even if it's rarely true.

It also makes one an adult, allowing marriage, starting of businesses, moving past apprenticeship, travel to the surface, and other things of that sort.

That's what brings the small group - mostly from one Drow family - here on this day. Night. Whatever it might be. Inside they go.

Temple Map

Everyone please check to see if you can see the crude map. You don't have to place yourselves on it - yet. Black are the walls - there is not a full roof, just a partial one. Yellow are windows - intact windows. Orange is the altar, brown are the few pews left, grey is the door.

Stay for 24 hours, walk back to town. Easy.

Oh, and don't worry about roles. Play what you want, and I'll adapt for what you have!

I'm starting up a 4e game that will take place entirely in the Underdark. No surface games for these adventurers. Dark, deep, dangers from level 1!

I'll have more details on the start once the discussion thread pops up, after I see player interest.

I'm ok with a bigger group. Two slots are reserved for Rosey and Fabes if they want them, but I'll take 4 to 6 more people. I'll be using Rosey's posting rules, and initially, google docs for the maps, though I hope to use a better map source once I can wrap my head around map making programs! :)

Simple one, I hope. What mapping programs or system do you use and why? I'm thinking about running one myself and the maps are the only thing holding me back, so I thought I'd ask the GMs out there for advice.

Thanks for any answers,

Amy.

I've looked and looked though all three core books and I can't find an answer, so I thought I'd ask you all.

When a monster crits, what does it do for damage?? Max damage like a PC, or double base damage or what? Does anyone know, and do the books actually say. If so, where?

Thanks in advance.
