With a belly full of mutton and a pebble or two in his cheek, Kalgrin head bobs, and eventually nods off.

Kalgrin enjoys what mutton he can collect and uses minimal amounts of ale to wash it down. A bit awkward, but he keeps two loves literally in hand. In one he holds his food and in the other, he cups a handful of pebbles. It somehow makes him more at ease and closer to Torag.

A lover of food, he fights urges against it, yet offers the following to the group:

"Probably best that we not leave any scraps behind. If you think it best to not stuff yourself, or find the food not to your liking, I think I will be able to find a way to be helpful for clearing the plates."

He takes to his food again but keeps a watchful eye for what food might be most likely to remain. As he looks about, he also keeps his eyes open for anything that might be about in the shadows. With his sight in the dark a bit better than the others, he takes it upon himself to keep unofficial watch. Not that others aren't, but he feels his birth leaves him better suited.

have you been staying in the Kaer for the last 30 days? Everyone else left within a week of the kaer opening.

Yikes! I didn't view this as the first time he was out, but there is a period of adjustment. Admittedly I missed that it was in fact 30 days. I thought it was the first week.

"Kratos is right." Ibram states gruffly. "Even if we make it to the next village before night, who's to say it hadn't met the same fate as this one? We can clear out much of the dead in an hour and hold out in the most defensible building until the next day."

Just a suggestion of course. Ehehe. Knowledge: Engineering check to find the sturdiest and most defensible building in town: 1d20+9

Kalgrin adds "Clearly there is something afoot that is going to require our utmost attention and preparedness. Now, a lack of sun light has never slowed this dwarf, but wiser words may have never been spoken - we need to hold out here. Should day break find us well rested, I suggest we set out on foot."

Don't mind the fluff

It is great stuff. I love the read. Keep it up!

Hey Kalgrin...you should probably go forward with the assumption that we are not pooling our funds for a wand. Just my 2 cp :)

I'll operate under that assumption. :) It was a good idea, but in the end it probably won't make much difference, and we won't have to worry about an equitable division of resources.

if the group wants to pool there funds in game and buy a wand that is fine

Thank you Lord.

If anyone wants to convert your healing scrolls to healing wand charges, please let me know. Thanks.

Kalgrin is looking forward to helping those in need and hopes that it involves a fair amount of underground. He thinks the trek as described is far from a fetchingly good start, yet it is a start.

He considers and ponders Alfrik's closing words. "I do hope we fair well" he mumbles to himself, but so would have preferred a hope for a fruitful trip rather than a fairwell.

Lord Thas, I still haven't completed outfitting my character because I am awaiting your thoughts on whether or not I can accept money from other characters for the purchase of a wand with healing spells in lieu of us each investing in scrolls. You see, we are a frugal bunch. :) Thanks.

I gather my things in preparation for the journey. I am curious as to how long we will be gone, if we will be returning, or if this will be my final journey before I "more closely" serve Torag. As always, I resolve to worry not, but to be a fine example of what it means to be a disciple of Torag.

I have made the most of these last few days, and I am ready. I don't have much in the way of loose ends to resolve, so after prayer, I set out and make my way early, and take the long way so as to have an extended walk among the stones that have when thrown up and collect along the sides of the road.

That's weird. Why did my avatar change? What have you done? :)

Color me shocked when I truly did stumble upon a spell! I have never seen that before. Pretty funny!

Our party size is rather large. It looks like some of us have bought cure potions. Should we consider pooling our money for a Wand of Cure Light Wounds that Kalgrin could use?

A gift for me! Oh, you shouldn't have! :)

I think it is a great idea if Lord will go for it.

I like your idea about the War College outfitting us even better. Ever seen a blue dwarf? I'm going to start holding my breath... Oh, apparently I've discovered the spell to transform into a smurf!

Here ya guys go. here is the OOC thread

Dotting this myself. I am nearly done polishing my character. I pretty much need just a few more magic items and then to total it up.

Thanks for the advice everyone - I think I incorporated it all!

Hi Kalgrin,

Looks good so far. One thing I'll point out is that you don't get those 4th and 5th level spells yet. You only get them when your Cleric level is high enough to cast those 4th and 5th level spells (i.e. 7th level for 4th level spells and 9th level for 5th level spells).

Keon,

Thank you for the feedback!

Oh bummer... I wasn't sure of that. I did look. :) I found nothing that said I didn't get access to them. I saw only that I received them as bonus. I wonder if this is something that just everyone knows, and wasn't spelled out in detail in the rules.

I am fleshing out background at the moment, and then on to gear. As a Cleric, do I need material components for my spells such that I should carry and make sure I provision them? I am open to suggested changes to anything on my character as I don't have the experience to know this or that is good or bad in practice. I am particularly interested in thoughts on gear, as this is where I will soon be fleshing out my character.

I feel your pain. You could also try copying the entire thing before pressing save. Works better for me than having it on a different window.

Good idea!

I entered in a far bit, but I have more detail to provide. I think I should be finished by tomorrow.

Feel free to comment on any and all aspects. I welcome advice.

Looking at some of your profiles, I already know that I am going to change the formating of mine.

I (aka Hadley Scrimrot) am getting there.... I did decide to go with the Dwarven Cleric. What I don't finish tonight I should be able to finish tomorrow during the day.

This is my first character I've created since 1st ed so if something looks funny, please ask, and I'll let you know what inventive algorithm I used to arrive at the numbers. :) Taking much longer to create the character than I anticipated.

Edit:
Argh!! I am about to jump off the roof. For some reason it didn't save my profile updates and all is lost. Grrrr. And it won't let me step back far enough in browser history to recover it. Now I know to enter all information offline, and then cut and paste. A horribly tough lesson to learn. I need to step away.
