All, I'm having trouble keeping up with this game, so I'm regretfully going to have to drop out. It is a really good game, and I feel I'm doing a disservice to y'all by not being able to keep up. Work has gotten pretty bananas and I'm having trouble finding the time. Good gaming, y'all, and GM Fanguar, thanks for running this. You're a fantastic GM.
Juliet nods, and prepares herself for the next step, into what could perhaps be a dangerous and even deadly moment; this Araseby had killed warriors more skillful than her for sure. "Very well. May fortune be with us."
Juliet nodded already practicing Preach's preaching, and inched forwards, following behind Messer, far enough to hopefully not be seen, but close enough to close the gap quickly if needed. Beside her, Mathilde floated, wordless, and looked about for threats.
"Is it common to see our kind allied with fae?" Juliet asked, more than a bit rhetorically. "I'd think not. Isn't it more likely we are who we say we are? And that it is in the best interests of the Duchess if we spirit her away from here, before Asrabey can do what he plans?"
Yeah totally. Ours brought home Covid in March. This is thankfully just a nasty cold.
Now I've got a bit of cold (darn contagious kids!). Hope to get caught up on things this weekend.

"Gods," Juliet murmurs, standing and taking in the scene around them, frozen still as the others spring into action. "Did it just... whip some fire about it? And is that..." Shaking her head, the mystic forces herself into a run, following the others. It was, after all, not every day one got the opportunity to run through a portal.
"Hmmm," Juliet says, thinking out loud. "If the maintenance worker is willing, I think it is a good idea. Regardless, I agree we should get into the sewer as soon as possible." While the idea of descending into a sewer filled Juliet with a little bit of trepidation, it was certainly something she was pretty sure she'd never done before!
Juliet shrugs, arriving at the same conclusion as most the others. "Be careful then. I believe you will." Turning to Alsah, the Mystic looks befuddled. "Indeed, what was his name? It was an unusual one..."
Perhaps it was experience from her past lives, perhaps she was just naturally gifted at divining the motives of others - but Juliet had a gift for spotting deception as it happened. She stared at the military man wondering they should give him the weaponry he sought, willing to consider doing so if he was genuine.
There was something about the man, a flash of a reminder from a past life, perhaps, but Juliet could not quite will the memory into existence. Instead, she slowly pushes her way through the crowd, looking each tiefling up and down, hoping to find their missing Dannoran. If they wouldn't come to her, she'd go to them. As she looks over the tieflings, she addresses the military man. "Seems to me that we have the same goals here - to root out Risuri traitors that would plunge our nations into another war. Unless you're actively aiding the traitors? Wouldn't that make you treasonous to your nation as well?"
"And for what it is worth," Juliet adds, "We are very sorry for the discomfort. I shall personally ask for some renumerance to be made from our government to the people of this island." Juliet doubted anything would come from her request, but it was the thought that counts, right?
While they talk, Juliet continues to surveil the crowd, making note of the tieflings, and then looking for potential threats.
Pointing to the tieflings she's identified, she calls them out. "You, you, you, you, you, you, and you - please step forward."
We've got relatively mild cases, according to our doc, and it has totally wiped me out for days. Our daughter, under five and therefore unvaxxed, brought it home from school. We knew we were in trouble when she'd just look at us cough everywhere. <cry/laugh emoji here> At any rate, feeling better today and getting back to things.
My whole family, including me, is down with covid at the moment. Hope to be back soon.
Juliet takes in the scene. Utter chaos. Juliet's face pinches, an involuntary twinge as Wodeham approaches them. "I'm sorry, we're here to look for a specific Danoran. But we'll help you if we can. It looks like you have a big job here. Were we more successful than was planned for?" The unspoken assumption being, that if not, this aspect of the mission was planned poorly, and more thought should have gone into securing prisoners. Peering into the dim light of the stables, Juliet looks for a man matching their description.
Juliet, drawn to the window, is silent for a minute or two, lost in the scene playing out by the ships. The screams, the fire... Shaking her head, she turns the others. "Whether or not they are this Arasbey, they're definitely a high elf. Do you see how the tongues of the still burning fires take the shapes of hands? Probably a Vekeshi Mystic to boot." A shiver of anticipation runs up Juliet's back. To meet another Mystic and one as famed as Arasbey, that would be something memorable. If he didn't kill them all of course. "He probably works for the Unseen Court. The Duchess has served as the Risuri liaison to the Unseen Court for the last several decades, right?" Turning to the prisoner, Juliet kneels to the prisoner's level, giving them an empathetic look. "Listen to my colleague here. Let's end this madness. We'll put in a good word for you, get you some proper food, good treatment."
Juliet casts a sideways glance at the soldier tasked with assisting her. Tall, young, doesn't look to bright. Eh, he'd be useful either way. --- Once they've got a moment with one of the prisoners, nods to her phantom. "Be scary. Or as scary as you can be, at least."
Juliet had never smoked a cigar, to her knowledge at least. It was possible - even probable - that one of her past lives had done so. Either way, it would be a new experience, and one to be treasured. She tucked the cigar away in her pack, voice soft. "Thank you." Turning to her companions, Juliet nods. "A fine idea. Where do we find the prisoners?"
"Yes," Juliet says, her voice shaking with adrenaline. "Let's wait for landfall, report, and then venture into the area once it is more secure." Closing her eyes, Juliet centers herself, a few seconds passing by. The assault, while certainly exciting, was nothing she wished to repeat; the screams of the men at the base of the lighthouse ring in her ears. "I'd like to know why the Duchess felt this gambit would work..."
While the others exchange fire, Juliet works, continuing to barricade the lighthouse and buttress its bottom floor. Looking around, she panics a bit as she realizes Alex isn't there - hopefully the agent would be able to find a spot to hide...
Mathilde coalesces inside her summoning circle giving Juliet an inscrutable look, one that could be as much why am I back so soon as why did you send me a way so quickly. "No time," Juliet snaps at her former self, "Soldiers amassing outside these walls. Scare them." The phantom floats to a nearby window and then puts her head through it, yelling, "They're raising us to kill you all! Run!" before screaming and pulling herself back into the lighthouse.
Mathilde looks to Juliet and shrugs as if to say, What do you expect? I was a weaver.

Juliet withdraws into the lighthouse. She was neither stealthy nor one that could fight a pitched battle at range. Instead, once inside and safe, Juliet begins the process of summoning her phantom former self. Mathilde would be back on this side of the veil soon.
Juliet continues her work, hauling, stacking, and reinforcing barricades, huffing, sweaty work.
Following Preach's lead, Juliet works alongside him at the lighthouse, pulling crates and barrels to and hither, working quickly, silently.
While Preach yells at the approaching Risuri traitors, Juliet continues working on their makeshift barricade, trying to buttress as much as possible with any debris located nearby.
Nodding, Juliet takes her place besides Preach, working with the agent to barricade the door. The room spins, Juliet sweats as she works. "Uh, I'll take some healing, Alsah."
The guard drops and Juliet sprints once again, past Messer and up the stairs, squeezing past Bryn into the room. She skirts around the mage, raising her scythe to strike...
Juliet shifts into the doorway, partially to block their enemy from fleeing through it, partially to divert his attention from Messer's attack. Snarling, she lashes out again with her scythe.
Circling around the villain in the fight with Messer, Juliet shoves the haft of her scythe at their enemy's head, hoping to knock him senseless.
Legs and arms pumping, Juliet moves as quickly as she's able, back up the ramp and to the main deck, ending up near to Messer. Breathing heavily, she grips her scythe, ready to strike.
Juliet rears back to strike again at her enemy, and then he simply... drops to the ground, lightly snoring. Not one to think too much on things, Juliet runs up the ramp, around her comrades, towards the terrorists who were still awake.
Juliet scowls. They were dancing around each other, almost a comedy of incompetence - were the stakes not so high, it would be funny. Rearing back her scythe again, Juliet sends the haft towards her enemy's nose...
The pain flooded Juliet's senses, a feeling that, well, while new, the woman knew would be best never felt again. Swinging the haft of her scythe around, she tried to cut her enemy down, only to land the scythe's pointy end in the cobbles at the man's feet.
I had a death in the family and will be leaving town, trying to tie up some loose ends at work, etc. over the next week. Posting may be slow going for a bit.
The glaive's blade whooshes by Juliet's face - Whoa! - and Juliet ducks inside the man's reach, drawing her scythe and swinging the back end of the head at the man. She'd best put this man down quick, or she'd be reborn again. Her attack is rushed, her swing way wide. Dammnit!
Juliet moves alongside Alsah, flexing her hands in anticipation of the fight to come. "I'll come with you," she whispers, and readies a silent and impermanent disabling mental attack on the nearest guard.
I agree. Time for some d8 diplomacy (scythe damage :) I'd vote for splitting. Maybe we take them all out without raising the alarm?
Juliet stands behind Adam and strikes the pose of one of Preach's subordinates, shaking her head in agreement and casting looks about for any "enemies." It is perhaps, given the devas lack of (this) life-experience, convincing.
Juliet nods to the guard - thanks - as they walk into the inner fort, trying to put as much a calm face on as possible. "Maybe we should just keep walking towards the sea gate? Not check in with Boggs at all?"
Juliet stops, eyes closed, and Mathilde vanishes, sent back beyond the veil. "Thought she might raise some questions." Turning towards the lighthouse, Juliet surveys the scene, hand drifting towards her scythe. "Be prepared to fight. They may ask for a password or something similar."
Juliet flips her cloakhood up and starts towards the seagate. "I'm not a good liar. Best someone else does the deception," she murmurs, her eyes darting about under her cloak as they move.
I'm also having problems with my work computer, which is the computer I use for my PBPs. Hope to have everything resolved by this weekend. The stealth plan seems fine to me though.
I'm back and catching up on life/work. Sorry for the radio silence - turned out I didn't have internet after all, which was pretty lovely actually. I hope to get caught up today/tomorrow.
