Racial Traits
Size: Halflings are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.

Fearless: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by halfling luck.

Halfling Luck: Halflings receive a +1 racial bonus on all saving throws.

Sure-Footed: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks.

Weapon Familiarity: Halflings are proficient with slings and treat any weapon with the word “halfling” in its name as a martial weapon.

Keen Senses: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.

Traits and Drawbacks

Local urban legends and bits of strange historical rumors have long fascinated you—who knows what amazing truths about Kintargo’s past have been lost forever to the redactors of House Thrune? What caused Professor Mangvhune of the Alabaster Academy to become the city’s most infamous serial killer? Who were the dragons Adrakash, Ithanothaur, and Rivozair, and what were their ties to Kintargo? Why do the Devil’s Bells of the Temple of Asmodeus seem to ring at random times, and is there a pattern to the peals? Who were the Silver Ravens who defended Kintargo during the Chelish Civil War, and why did they vanish so soon after that war’s resolution? So many mysteries, and who better than you to find the answers?
Pick one of the questions above as your focus.

Your choice of focus grants you a +1 trait bonus in a particular Knowledge skill check associated with that focus (pick one of the two options provided below for your question). That Knowledge skill is always a class skill for you. Once per day, when you attempt a Knowledge skill check in either of the types associated with your focus, you can roll twice and take the better result as your actual result.
Silver Ravens: Knowledge (history).

Freed Slave (Halfling): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy and Knowledge (nobility) checks and Knowledge (nobility) is a class skill for you.

Class Abilities
Finesse Training (Ex): At 1st level, a rogue gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat. At 3rd level, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse (Short Sword). Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to the damage roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her Strength modifier to the damage roll, she does not add her Dexterity modifier.

Sneak Attack: +2d6

Trapfinding: A rogue adds 1/2 her level on Perception checks to locate traps and on Disable Device checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

Evasion: A rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she succeeds at a Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Danger Sense (Ex) +1: At 3rd level, a rogue gains a +1 bonus on Reflex saves to avoid traps and a +1 dodge bonus to AC against attacks made by traps. In addition, she gains a +1 bonus on Perception checks to avoid being surprised by a foe. These bonuses increase by 1 every 3 rogue levels thereafter (to a maximum of +6 at 18th level). This ability counts as trap sense for the purpose of any feat or class prerequisite, and can be replaced by any archetype class feature that replaces trap sense. The bonuses gained from this ability stack with those gained from trap sense (from another class).

Rogue Talents
Coax Information: A rogue with this talent can use Bluff or Diplomacy in place of Intimidate to force an opponent to act friendly toward her. When the duration of the attitude shift ends, that opponents' attitude toward the rogue returns to its previous level, rather than dropping one level.


Childlike: You can take 10 on Bluff checks to convince others you are telling the truth, so long as your story makes you appear innocent. You gain a +2 bonus on Disguise skill checks to pose as a human child, and ignore the check penalties for disguising yourself as a different race and age category while doing so.

Bonded Mind: As long as you can see each other, you and an ally who also has this feat can trade nonverbal messages. These function as the message spell, except that you don't need to whisper or point, and you cannot be overheard.

This hides his quick wit and reflexes when he delves into the seedy underbelly of Kintargo in his search for the city's secrets.

Life for a Halfling in Cheliax is hardly ever nice.

Jules was born to a servant family in a noble house in Egorian. Groomed to serving nobles in their any need with grueling demands from birth, Jules soon learned to use the nature of the nobles to get by with looking innocent. It was an oppressed life but Jules made sure it was at least comfortable.

I was performing my duties. Every day the lady of the house would wake and expect me at her bed with the mornings garments, breakfast, and never to make eye contact. This was made more difficult by the fact that she expected a three course breakfast. The cow. Mother and Father tended to the cleaning and kitchen. Serving the human servants in the rooms but I was special apparently. Cute enough to serve the lady specifically.

The worst thing of this duty was her Imp. It always grinned and stared. I think it always wanted to eat me.

This day was no different from the day I was finally physically able to serve the house but it was today that the Imp decided to try and get me in trouble. I was readying breakfast near the bed as the lady always awoke at the same time. The platter was placed on the nightstand as I had turned to make sure the morning garments were meticulously placed for the cow. When suddenly there was a crash and the breakfast was covering the floor. I only caught a little green flash as the Imp hopped back on its post at the last moment.

The lady shot awake and without thinking backhanded me while screaming, “What do you think you’re doing you brainless child! You could have killed me! I bet you had been intending to!”

I wasn’t allowed to cry. Mother had made that very clear in her training. It would only egg them on. I stood as the berating began and soon she towered over me with cries for explanation. I did the only thing I could think to do. I pointed at her trusted imp and said meekly, “Very sorry madam. I tripped over your pet. I was terribly clumsy please forgive me.”

Shockingly she stopped immediately and looked at me confused. She looked over to the imp, who was slackjawed, and turned back to me before clearing her throat while considering for a moment.

“Well, I… Stupid child watch where you’re going from now on.” She said matter-of-factly but the yelling had stopped and that was all I cared. From then on the imp continued to make my time serving hell while causing accidents only to be driven mad at my ability at talking my way out of them. I became rather adept at lying to my innocence for the lady. I could at least thank him for that.

You know what they say. Best of a bad situation…

Years had passed. The game had gone on. Constant threats of death lose effect after years of them you just kinda get used to them. That is… until it happens. Mother had been doing her job. Dinner was being served. But I guess the imp had gotten tired of me and decided to try a new way to get to me. Her. I had no idea where he had been the last day or two as I saw to the lady. I only knew he reappeared the third. I thought nothing of it. He would sometimes jaunt off for whatever whim he enjoyed. Dinner went as normal…. Until the guest keeled over foaming at the mouth.

Screams erupted and a search of the house was conducted. They found a vial of poison in Mother’s belongings but she couldn’t have been the culprit. There was no telling the nobility though. She wasn’t a person, just a belonging. She was summarily executed. We were all forced to watch. She professed innocence on deaf ears except for mine. As the axe fell I caught the eyes of the imp. He winked. That bastard had set her up.

The next few days were a blur of hate and plotting. I knew all of the rotations and the schedules. I knew where to get him when he would least expect it. I never knew I could hate so much until I crept up behind the foul thing and strangled him with a piece of rope I took from the gardeners.

After the deed was done I had the horrid realization that she would notice him gone. I hid its vile body in a cupboard and ran. I escaped the grounds and never looked back. Once out I was quickly fouind by another halfing. She said she knew my look and had people that could help. Apparently I was quite the fish out of water.

The Network hid me. They helped me get out of Egorian and adapt to life outside of the manor and teach me skills to survive in the streets. I was finally free. My only regret was leaving father behind.

This month
Everyone needs heroes and every city has secrets.

I had found myself in Kintargo. It was a nice city even if it was still in Cheliax. It was far from Egorian and I made it home. I found work where I could and my upbringing made me rather adept at forgery and there were so many secrets to find in this city where history was so heavily edited. I knew how it all worked you see. Beauracracy is a blessing and curse. I was comfortable here. Then Martial law hit. It made my job so much more busy but so much more lucrative. That said I only ever did my work to help the downtrodden. Still news of the rebellion had spread through the underworld and subsequently across my desk. It was Time. Finally we could throw off the redactionists and Thrune rule. I had heard the Silver Ravens needed people and sought a contact. He would be at the next protest. Wearing a black glove…
