About Jubrayl Ibor Ardoc

Grotesquely fat, Jubrayl spends most of his days feasting, studying his grease-smeared spellbook, and leaching his body. He typically lounges about working in clay when his funds do not allow him to hire a litter to carry his bulk around Absalom, but has been known to move quickly when his life is on the line.

While many of his fellow Pathfinders wonder how he could pass the physical requirements to join the Society [in truth it was only possible with several magical scrolls provided by his wealthy family, perhaps to be rid of him at last], Jubrayl's bloated form hides a potent musculature. Many are the rib bones cracked beneath those hands to free the marrow to his jaws, and the quantity of meats and cheeses carried within his robes (many long forgotten) would bend the back of a lesser man.

Jubrayl's birth was at the one hand quite fortuitous, born to a wealthy and powerful family dominated by men. Less fortuitous was the result of his girth at birth: his mother's death (at least, so he is told). While in later years this would instill a somewhat morbid curiosity in him, it did little to deter him from jovially relishing life. While that outlook assisted him greatly in pushing the boundaries of magic, it also left him dreadfully bored with his family's golem-making business. Magical creations should have more Life he felt, or at the least Un-Life.

In his youth he enjoyed the privilege his family's position gave him, and often bullied those around, for food or gold or favors. When he overstepped several bounds at once though [pursuing an adolescent crush on a noble's wife], he was punished and sent to Ankar-Te by his family. The undead section of the city had many mausoleums (inhabited by both dead and undead) that required careful tending by one conversant with magic.

Fulfilling his family's obligations proved quite enjoyable for Jubrayl however, and he learned a great deal of both necromancy and the Ankar-Te's residents' homelands. Bardic tales of exploring ancient tombs led to his first interest in joining the Pathfinder Society. His family recognized that interest [as well as a chance to quell his developing fascination with digging up his mother for animation], and furnished him with enough gold, magic, and Qadiran contacts to ensure his entrance.
