Don't be foolish - we all have one of these pretties of course: Pallid Crystal.

Interesting idea, might have to get one for myself... The low end version would, by the book, cost 2000 x weight capacity (in hundreds of pounds), so 8000 for a normal person, maybe 10-12K with extra space for gear (and weight of the throne). You should probably have an adjustment for it following your directions instead of simply following the caster around, but I think that would be negligible at this point, as long as it takes a move action to move (normal speed). Low end: 10,000gp Price, 5,000gp Cost The high end version sounds great! Flying carpet sounds like a great place to start. A 5'x10' carpet with a 400lb capacity (barely enough!) costs 35,000gp. We can probably trip off 5000gp for the throne only being 5'x5' effectively. Teleporting twice a day as a secondary ability costs 49,000gp (at CL9). Carpets obey verbal commands, so don't take actions to move with (kind of like mounts). For defenses, lets add permanent entropic shield and, sure, emergency force sphere 1/day. Those are 6,000gp and 15,000gp respectively (as secondary abilities), if we don't set the CL equal to the flying/teleporting part. For offense, the wizard should be enough, but I like your style. At will Scorching Ray (CL 7 so from both dragon heads): 38,000gp High end: 138,000gp Price, 69,000 Cost - very affordable!
I happen to know that Uncle Besel's golems are programmed with great restraint - see how it didn't even attack these intruders until after the second time they attacked it? Of course, this sort of thing wouldn't be a problem if he let me install a few Ghasts or Skeletal Champions as guards, capable of thinking on their feet and determine the appropriate threat level. I hope you'll all support the idea at the next Bis District Referendum!

... I manage just fine, thank you very much.
Hey! - Some of us like our Corpulence thank you very much! And there's no such thing as a 'bloodmage initiate' - that's Bloatmage if you must, but Hemotheurge is the preferred and respectful term. Class Source - you might want to get the original flavor before you strip it all out.
I must say, I am extremely disappointed at this promotion of body image stereotypes. The cruel assumption that every Ardoc Brother should conform to this chiseled brawny look, instead of a more natural look is humiliating. Next thing you know every Ardoc Brother will come with a matching Iron Golem playmate. Some of us prefer flesh and blood companions you know! I'm going to take this up with Uncle Besel. I hear he does the family licensing.
This is the last time we open up Hemotheurge School to whiny, dumb, sorcerers. I told the others we needed clear education requirements for all applicants - (e.g. 5 ranks in Knowledge (arcana)) - but "Nooo... we can't discriminate against the less intelligent arcanists." Look at the sort of scum that gets in the door when you ease up on the restrictions! It's outrageous!
williamoak wrote: But is evocation really such a bad idea for a bloatmage? That +1 caster level sure could help! As a great man once said, "All too easy." There is no challenge to your skills in wasting your talents on such spells! Evocation works very very well - too well really. If you can keep it somewhat toned down, that'd be a very fun way to go. Just very easy to get carried away with evocation and kill everything before anyone else gets a chance to have fun.
Congratulations on your decision to become a Hemotheurge! You are fortunate and intelligent individual I can tell, who can see past all the prejudice our, uh, kind, receive from insignificant others. You've taken the first step into a better, more fatul.. er flatu.. er fabulous life! First, I hope you can secure a proper Kaer Magan instructor - accept no substitutes! Kaer Maga is a lovely city - you should see the view from the edge above the waterfalls. Eh... careful though - some.. pranksters like to push people off. Shouldn't be a problem for a dwarf like yourself though! Second, ignore all the ones telling you to shut your trap, that you're not good enough to lead! Pulling ultimate power out of your blood doesn't mean you can't be the life of the party. Plus, you gotta know how to put your lessers in their place. *cracks knuckles* (be disgusting! but be awesome at it!!!) Third, enjoy your time as an Initiate, it's the best part of your career - all the glory, none of the expectations! Trust me, the 'shortcuts' some birds try to sell you just aren't worth it. You need a few rounds under your belt first. Skip the cheese - be a real mage! Fourth, that Sin Magic stuff is pretty potent, be sure you're ready for it. (i.e. a Boon is required to use Thassilonian Magic in PFS) Fifth, obviously Necromancy is by far the most powerful of magics, but not everyone has the, uh, stomach for it. Transmutation is an excellent substitute, I cast quite a few myself - very useful to be able to cast lots more if I want! (Least effective on caster level - until disintegrate - but bloat pool is fantastic for transmutations, feather fall, spider climb, cat's/bull's/bear's, fly, etc.) Sixth, don't let your family boss you around! Even if they don't like your taste in pets... Nevermind. (a familiar can be a good choice - arcane bond for a spell is incredibly useful, but you can't bloat pool that spell, so there's no real synergy) Seventh, make sure you have a side gig. Even we run out of spells! Last... always keep a sandwich around - it's a hungry job but somebody's got to do it.

Let me clear it up right now. There is absolutely nothing illegitimate about my application to the Pathfinder Society. Everything is quite in order- nothing was forged as I'm sure you are implying. And I assure you 'normal noble life' can certainly include dangerous adventures that can result in gruesome deaths. My family even encouraged it! *grumbles* |
