Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Sorry guys, I'm afraid I have to bow out at this point. All of you have a great time, though!

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh tumbles and leaps over to where Philip is.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Landing next to Philip, Josh begins speaking. "I agree with Phil. These weapons are good quality, no doubt better than what we can find in the marketplace there, however, all of us are going to need some form of protection if we're gonna fight Grox. I can wear anything light-studded leather will probably be best-and a buckler or light shield would be good as well. If you have that kind of money, I would certainly appreciate if we went into town stock up on some gear first."

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Yeah, I just don't really have anything to do for now. Just for reference, Josh is out practicing his sword and tumbling right now. I'm thinking of multiclassing into the ACG Swashbuckler once I've got my second level of bard.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

With a final flourish, Josh whacks off an imaginary goblin's head. "Kyah!" he screams, and then turns around and tosses his blade in the air, deftly catching it. "I like it, Robin. Maybe you can show me how to use it a bit better?" Josh says, turning to Robin.

I know you're gonna say "No," to this, Schro, but can I swap around stats a little bit? The way I'm envisioning Josh now is still a charming swashbuckler, except his more a swashbuckler than a textbook. I was thinking swap my Cha for Int, and my Int for Dex. Yes, I know it's a bit late in the game for that, but what do you think?

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Gadzooks, 7 posts since the last time I checked!

Josh heads outside again, looking for likely branches for Phil and Lyd to use as staves. Casually, he starts jumping and tumbling over to the forest.

Taking 10 on the roll.

Landing at the edge of the trees, he searches for any likely branches.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Cool. Josh is practicing tumbling and such outside :)

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh nods at Miya's suggestion. "Good idea, Miya. You and Luc had some fighting prowess before the event, though me, Lydia, and Philip had none. Sparring would help out a ton."

Turning to Philip, Josh takes out a penknife from his vest. "Here. This ought to help you trim a branch. While you guys are making your staves, I'll practice some of my own skills outside."

Giving a friendly wave to everyone, Josh heads just outside the cabin, leaving the door open. Taking a deep breath, Josh starts tumbling around, doing cartwheels and midair antics.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Unfortunately, he falls flat on his face. Swearing, he tries again.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

A bit better, but not much. "Let's try this again," Josh mutters, and tries yet again.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

This time, Josh successfully performs midair tumbles and cartwheels. Smiling at his success, he goes back inside.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh nods at Miya, and, with another blinding smile, turns to Robin. "And I'll be the one writing it! he says.

"My friends, unless you have any more questions to ask poor old Robin-his mind is almost certainty befuddled by our talk of interdimensional travel-we should probably be in our way. This ogre sounds like a nuisance that should be disposed of ASAP, and the sooner we go, the sooner we beat Grox and the sooner that we do that, the sooner we can find a way to get home.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh looks at the weapons laid out in a row.. Tentatively, he grabs the shortsword. As soon as he grabs it, Josh knows that the gladius was meant for him. Giving the blade a few experimental swings, the young aasimar quickly gets used to the weight of the blade.

Turning to Miya, Josh grins impishly. "Wanna spar? he asks with a bright white smile.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh rubs his shoulders and replies "Well, I took some fencing classes when I was 16. I was pretty good at it, though not enough to beat a trained swordsman." Josh's eyes light up. "However, I would guess that when we touched the power well, our bodies weren't the only things to enhance. Our minds probably did as well-and with them, our expertise with weapons. I'm pretty sure that I know a LOT more than I did in the other world."

Turning to Phil, Josh says "As demonstrated by Adam's miraculous recovery, we have probably picked up some talents that we didn't even have to begin with."

Josh sits down and begins to think, and delves into the fantasy world that he escapes to when he needs to process things. Goblins. CR 1/3. 1 HD. BAB +1. AC 16. Ogre. CR 3. 4 HD. BAB +4. Dang. I guess reciting these roleplaying facts to myself to escape isn't good now. I'm in that world now. Only way to go is forward.

Looking up and smiling weakly, Josh turns to Robin and asks "Any of that wine left? I need a stiff drink right now."

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Alchemist seems more up more Philip's alley, though.

Possibly because he brewed beer in real life.

But then again, Alchemist could still be fun!

BOOM!!!

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 6
"Miya, I think we should help him out. We need to learn as much about this region as we can, and a little field experience would help," Josh answers.

Turning to Philip, Josh says "I'm not much as a science buff as you, but maybe when we have some more time we could work on a theory together, get to the root of the problem."

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Again, sorry for interfering and going out of bounds. I'm completely new to PbP, so criticism-if it's constructive-is always appreciated.

You're right, though, we should fully retcon that. It would take months, if not years, to come up with a theory even relatively as credible.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh returns Luc's hug. "Nice... to... see you too, man...In the meantime... your grip is a bit strong..." After breaking out of Luc's bear hug, Josh turns to Miya.

Pulling out his rune, he puts it on the table. "The way I see it," Josh says, "We all came here through some otherworldly force, some interdimensional meddler. Don't look at me like I'm crazy. What other reason would there be for the dimensional fabric ripping within three months of the first event, and then depositing both targets in the same day?!? If we're gonna get back, we have got to find the guy who did this. We should probably snoop for rumors in towns, investigate ruins-that's my forte-and see if we can find even a legend of the sort of being who has this kind of power."

Turning around, Josh sees Adam and his twisted ankle. "Adam! You're hurt!" Josh exclaims, and goes over to see the extent of the damage. Instinctively, Josh reaches out and touches Adam. ”Loforni,” Josh whispers, and a blue light glows from his bronzed hand, healing Adam’s wounds.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Josh looks at Adam’s wounds, most of them now completely healed. ”What… The…. Hell?!” he exclaims.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

On second thought, I think I'll multiclass into Alchemist, probably with cognogens and chiurgionist.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh shakes his head. "I wouldn't be surprised that cross-dimensional travel screwed with the time matrix. As for why do they think you're dead? Some terrorist bombed the library. You were the only casualties."

Knowledge (science): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Josh takes out a notebook and a pencil out of his vest pocket and begins sketching out equations. "The time flux could be accounted for because of passing between universe. According to popular multicosmological theoretical scientists, each universe has time consistent with the rest of the universes. Passing through the polyuniversal core, which has no fixed time, complicates this. That means that even though each universe is technically in sync with one another, passage through the polyuniversal core throws that off, depositing beings in a random time locale..." Josh trails off, lost in his thoughts.

Snapping back to reality, Josh explains to the group "The fact that I arrived at this time locale with you guys is beyond coincidental. It's almost statistically impossible. The polyuniversal core depositing us here on the same day goes against all laws of it, as theorized by multiple scientists. Something greater is at work here."

Alright, that might seem like that's stretching it, but an 18 intelligence is actually classified as genius in old books.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Philip, would you mind if I multiclassed into Evocationist at some point? You wouldn't be getting tons of blast spells, and I would love to use my high intelligence. I'm only asking because I don't want to intrude upon your territory without permission.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Josh's jaw hit the floor when Miya opened the door. Although she had changed, she was still clearly Miya. "Mi...Miya! Josh stuttered out joyfully. You notice that the tips of his hair seem to be... flickering.

"Luc! Philip! Lydia! Adam!" A big, dopey grin splits Josh's face wide open, and atop his head, his hair seems to be on fire.

Walking inside, he turns to Miya and answers "Yeah, I was. But that's when everything started getting batsh*t crazy." Turning to the rest of the group, Josh begins to recount his tale. "Alright, the whole reason I was in Greece in the first place was in investigate a curious phenomenon. Shrines containing carvings of the celestials and fiends of every culture were found in Agrinion. Me and my chaperons were assigned to an Iranian dig site. One day, while I was collecting samples in one of the shrines, while reminiscing about you guys, I pricked my finger on a carving of a Peri-an Iranian angel. That's when things started to go really crazy. From the point of where I pricked my finger, my blood started running down the carving and... glowing. Then it got to the pedestal in the center of the room, and an unseen rune started glowing. Time slowed down, colors flooded my vision... And that's when I blacked out."

Josh continues his story. "When I woke up, I was in a stone room with six wells-one was glowing. Going over to it to take a sample, I stuck my hand in it. Although the liquid evaporated after it came out of the well, I managed to get this:" Josh pulls out a smooth stone with a carving of a rune on it. "This is the exact same rune that I found on the pedestal in the dig site. Coincidence? I think not. Anyways, I blacked out after I fished the rune out of the well. I woke up in a tree. And that brings us here."

Josh grimaces. "And I think I heard those 'things' when I woke up, Miya. They passed under the tree I was in. And, I hate to tell you guys this, though you would learn it if we got home... You have been dead for three months."

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

When nobody answers, Josh sighs. "Please, let me in! I haven't had food in days, and I must have shelter before dark, or else I'm afraid I will perish from the dread creatures that I heard when I awoke."Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 Josh's words flow like a soothing river out of his mouth-he never had much eloquency before.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

I'll just assume that everything is going on at the same time, so I'll take the leap and put my spoiler in the public :P

Josh sleepily blinked his eyes open, his chest slowly rising and falling. The birds were chirping, and the sweet scent of flowers filled the air and wafted its way into Josh's lungs.
Josh felt more at peace than he ever had been. He felt locked in in a way that Josh never felt before. He would've been content to lie there forever if he didn't look down. That definitely jolted Josh awake.

Memories flooded Josh's mind. The dig site. The shrine. The room. It made him very alert, and even moreso when he heard monstrous voices ambling underneath his perch. Looking around, Josh finds a small cottage, and the scenery surrounding it. Trying to get a closer look, he puts his hand over his eyes to block out the bright glare of the sun. Interestingly, that only magnified it.

Josh yanked his hand away from his eyes. Looking at it with morbid curiosity, he finds that it has turned a metallic sheen of bronze. Well, Josh thought to himself as he slumped against the trunk of the tree,There's another surprise to add to today's long, long list.

Clambering down from the tree, Josh instinctively slips into the shadows. Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 For some reason, Josh doesn't want the owners of the strange voices finding him-although he isn't sure if his amateur attempt will conceal him. Slowly, he creeps toward the cabin, hoping to find answers there.

That is what happened. Now what is happening.

As Josh creeps through the verdant forest, he decides that the creatures are gone and that it's okay to stop sneaking. Looking around, he spies a massive wolf loping through the forest. Josh instinctively identified it-Canus dirus, a dire wolf. Long extinct. Shaking his head, Josh finally admitted it: he was in a whole 'nother world.

Finally out of the forest, Josh strides over to the wooden cabin and knocks on the door. "Hello?" he asks tentatively. "Anybody there?"

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Hm. I wonder what Schrodinger is planning maniacally for the time difference...

Wow, natural one on my first roll. I wonder how that bodes for the future.

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Giving everyone a heads up: based on posting times as seen over here, I am in a radically different time zone than the rest of you.

Also, it's deadly quiet in gameplay. Hope somebody will post soon...

As Yihdra, the Goddess of Paradoxes would say: Yaaaaaay!!!

Male Emberkin Commoner 1/Archaeologist 1

Hi! I'm assuming that it's okay that I post here...

Does that mean that I'n in?!?!

Okay.. Is it okay if I post in gameplay?

Alright, I'm pretty sure everything is airtight. Please tell me if there's something I need to fix. (I fixed my HP, BTW.)

One little caveat, however: I was wondering if I could take the Arcane Duelist archetype as well. I was thinking that the Arcane Duelist performances would instead use rounds of Archaeologist's Luck instead of Bardic Performance.

I know that it replaces Bardic Knowledge-but I can always take more ranks in Knowledge skills because all of them are class.

Is this okay?

Yeah, I modified it in my profile.

Planning on increasing Dex to 14, increasing Con to 12, and keeping Str 10.

@Miya: World Traveler is a trait, not a feat. Also, taking Scion of Humanity as a race trait qualified me for both.

Quick note: I have an insanely high diplomacy and a decent bluff skill, so I would make an amazing party face.

When does the recruitment end?
