Background:

Most people enter a life of crime as a necessity. They are forced there through their circumstances. Maybe they were orphaned at a young age and they join a gang as a means to survive on the streets. Possibly they were a buisnessman who lost everything in a market crash and have to turn to pirating to support their families. Whatever the reasoning, most do not willingly throw themselves against the law unless they have something very wrong with them.

Most people are this way. Johnathan Fletcher is not like most people.

Born to a corporate middle-manager in AbadarCorp and his wife on Absalom Station, John had an easy early life. His father's wealth meant that John and his mother rarely wanted for anything. Wealth also meant education, which gave John access to the best schools on Absalom Station, furthering his understandings of technology and how it works. In his free time outside of school he engrossed himself with tinkering with computers.

The easy life left John wanting, though. While his computers and inventions were great and being fed with a silver spoon made his life easier than most on the station, he wanted more. He wanted adventure and romance like he read in books or played in video games. He wanted to be the hero of a grand story, not another corporate pawn like his father, no matter how easy that life was. So, when he finished his schooling he left home, against his father's wishes, looking for adventure.

Knowing nothing but structure his entire life, he joined the Hellknights, specifically a smaller order named The Order of the Eclipse, who dealt with corruption in a more clandestine manner. With them he learned how to move unseen and defend himself. He learned to use the shadows to ferret out corruption where ever it was and destroy it. He worked in their recon division, scouting out corruption for the shock troopers to sweep in and cut out the corruption with precision like a scappel to a tumor. Finally, John felt that he was a hero in a story.

But this is not the story of John the strict, and rigid law-abiding Hellknight. This is about John the Outlaw.

While on a mission for the Order, John was sent to infiltrate a criminal organization called Midnight Stars on Absalom Station with ties to the Golden League. Since the faction was on Absalom Station, the hellknights had to keep things discreet, so they sent John in disguise to find out where the Midnight Start's headquarters were. John spent several months in the under-belly of Absalom Station slowly gaining information on the group before he was finally brought into their confidence.

He began to work for them to further gain their trust. At first it they gave him small jobs, delivering packages and letters between cells. As he proved himself, the jobs got more interesting and he got to know them a little more. He learned that they fashioned themselves as noble scoundrels. They were mostly followers of Desna stealing medical supplies and food for the people in the bad parts of Absalom Station who couldn't afford them. Their leader was an ex-Desnan war-preist named Jayda Kinnean who had left the clergy when she learned that they were more interested in gaining credits than helping travelers.

The more time he spent with the Midnight Stars, the more and more he saw that they weren't evil. While the means by which they were helping people was illegal, the end result was good. Also, he slowly found himself falling for their leader. Slowly, but surely he stopped sending out reports to the Order of the Eclipse. He began using his military training to help the Midnight Stars gain more and more supplies for the sick.

For a while, all seemed well.

The Order of the Eclipse had not given up on the Midnight Stars, though. They tracked their movements through another sleeper agent within the group that had reported that John had switched over to the other side. They launched a strike force while John was out collecting more supplies and decimated the Midnight Stars. John returned to the hideout to find that he was the last one out of the group to survive.

Since the events, John's been hiding out in the underground of Absalom Station, trying to avoid the wrath of the Hellknights while keeping the ideals of the Midnight Stars alive.
