Thing is you need to decide whether you want to be good at hitting or be good at spells. Being good at both simultaneously while multiclassing is impossible.
Alternatively, you could just go straight Mesmerist. You don't get much out of Swashbuckler tbh.
Sorry if I didn’t explain myself well, we already started, at level 1, and I’m a gnome Mouser. I’m trying to decide if at 2nd or 3rd level it would be worth dual classing into Mesmerist.
The group consists of a mage, cleric, rogue, a damage output fighter, and myself (a mouser).
Though I’m not putting out a lot of damage because of my size, I’m kind of tanky and try to use my underfoot assault as much as possible.
My thoughts with the mesmerist is I can be a stronger support/tank fighter with the crowd control abilities.
I was looking at using the hypnotic stare which helps our mage and cleric, use spells like command to have a target approach me, which by walking past the rest of the party would trigger AoO, then use meek facade on myself to hold agro giving everyone else another attack, then possibly getting my underfoot assault off and using painful stare.
Obviously if it’s a big fight it’s less viable, but if it’s one large target, or even in a large fight to take out the enemy’s leader it might be affective.
So, that’s one scenario which could end up being very situational. So, I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas that might make it worth dual classing?
I was thinking Mesmerist because of how I play the character already and he already has a high Charisma.
