![]() Ok sounds good. This is all assuming Arian is in square HI14-15 which is where I thought he was based upon the descriptions above having been in IJ15-16 and then moving a 5' step up and to the left. For the next few seconds, four more creatures continue to appear and sink beneath the surface. Vrak lock temock theock leshka meck. Only look if you can understand Terran:
Surround the large two footed creature below the surface and await my command to rise and attack. Smug Arbiter:
Four more rounds of summoning and dropping beneath the surface in squares MN 11-12. On the fifth round, they all move to surround Arian in positions G14, G15, H13, I13, H16, I16, J14, J15. They are all 5' below the ground. Meanwhile, Jezebel moves to square K13 on the ceiling and readies an action to cast a spell when the earth elementals appear. On the sixth round they will all rise in unison using 5' steps due to earth glide and begin attacking. The rising will trigger Jezebel's readied action to cast haste on four of them specifically the ones in HI13 and J14-15.

In the sixth round the earth elementals step up out of the ground surrounding Arian and attack. Four of them attacking much faster than they should be able to after you hear Jezebel's voice cast a spell from much closer to Arian right as they appear. For several seconds, creatures keep appearing and disappearing into the earth. You count a total of eight creatures over the course of the fight. A voice calls out Vlack mock! All of a sudden the creatures burst from the ground surrounding Arian and begin a frenzied pounding of rocky limbs as Jezebel's voice rings out with chanting near the ceiling above Arian, several of the creatures attacks becoming much faster. You guys are up! Sorry for the delay. I'm still a bit under the weather. Smug Arbiter: I'm not feeling too hot and am on pain meds so I'm a bit loopy, could you check my math? ![]()
![]() If you guys are doing the same thing then do you want to fast forward a bit? Jezebel is going to be summoning for the next few rounds at least. Jezebel's voice rings out over the battlefield again and another rocky creature appears before sliding into the ground. Arbiter: Summon earth elemental in N9 who sinks into the ground. ![]()
![]() Yep all of them are now kaput! Nice shots. You hear Jasmine's voice ring out again and another rocky looking creature appears before sinking into the ground. Elemental appears in M10 before sinking into the ground. Smug Arbiter:
Same as before, summon a small earth elemental in M10 who immediately sinks into the ground. You all are up. ![]()
![]() That definitely drops him Arian. Smug Arbiter:
Jezebel continues assembling her army. Summon mastery to summon an earth elemental in square N10 that immediately sinks into the ground. Jezebel's voice again rings out over the field in a strange language. Vatock reckshek bok, lok tek retock! You again see a creature, this time looking something like a small cougar with eyes of opals, sink into the ground. Smug Arbiter:

You all are up! ![]()
![]() Smug Arbiter: Didn't mean to be argumentative if it was coming across that way. It just doesn't make even a little bit of sense to me. I can understand having that in there to make it so I can't drop a Trex on someone from a mile up, but to have to fly back down to the ground to summon an air elemental is the height of idiocy in design. Let's table this for now as I haven't summoned anything in the air besides the eagles and for the match I will summon flying creatures near the ground. This can be discussed by all the arbiters on the discussion thread. ![]()
![]() Nowhere does it say anything about weight. Not even the definition of surface mentions weight. For instance could I summon a flying creature on the surface of a cloud? By your definition of surface that would apply. As it is the outermost layer of an object or body. or for instance the surface of an underwater pocket of warm water? again that would apply. ![]()
![]() I didn't go again, that was an addendum to my above actions because Sleet pointed out, correctly, that I cannot summon directly into the ground. However there is a debate now where he is saying that creatures must be summoned on the ground...period...regardless of if they are swimming or flying creatures. For instance I couldn't summon an air elemental in the air, I would have to summon it on the ground and then it would fly in the air or I would have to summon a water elemental on the surface of the water (which still doesn't make sense since the surface of the water by his definition wouldn't be a stable surface) and then have the water elemental swim down to wherever it was going. He is interpreting the line "Creatures cannot be summoned into an environment that does not support them" to mean physically supporting and not environmentally supporting like an aquatic creature in water or a flying creature in the air. ![]()
![]() Smug Arbiter: Can you give me a link to that ruling? Because nowhere does it say that it must be summoned "on a stable surface" it specifically says they must be summoned "into an environment that supports them" Aquatic creatures are supported in an aquatic environment, flying creatures are supported in an air environment. You are looking at support from a weight perspective, not support in a perspective of able to exist in. I think that is a holdover from a previous edition because that language is not in the summon monster spell. ![]()
![]() Smug Arbiter:
Due to the fact that Earth Elementals have earth glide, summoning one into the earth should be a perfectly acceptable location. If that is the case then one could not summon anything in water. Now the only issue I can see here is line of effect but I'm not even sure if that would be a problem as there is some debate on whether a conjuration spell is similar to teleporting which can go around line of effect. That said, I will ere on the side of RAW and say that it doesn't work to summon without line of effect in which case. Added descriptor from above, all other actions the same. A creature that looks like a small bear made entirely out of earth and stone with two gemstones for eyes appears briefly before sinking below the earth. ![]()

If you can see square H20 from where you are then you see:
At the same time, you see the frightened creature in the corner dissipate into black smoke and vanish. The elemental misses it's attack of opportunity and misses it's fortitude save and then attempts to trip you again.

![]() Ok so I looked up the rules for movement and you were right although they are weird. If the creature is running (which it would probably do if frightened) then it can only move in a straight line, but the frightened rules also say it "flees as best it can" which you pointed out and the best it can would be a double move so I will move it to H20 as you suggested. ![]()
![]() Yeah, sorry about that. I read that line on my phone and was like "ok don't forget the -4" and then that's exactly what I did lol. Sorry again.
