WHO YOU LOST
Lover: Shag Lee Gentry, in for ten-to-twenty for arson
What did it: Vampires
Why couldn't you save them: In denial

HISTORY:

• They helped you at a critical point in your quest for revenge. Tell them what you needed help with.
Kavax'Kaotl: An unexpected ally in the middle of nowhere, you taught Jerry that not every "unnatural" is an enemy. (But frankly, most are.)

• They stood between you and what you needed to find out. Ask them why.
Charly Takahashi: Jerry approached you when he was tracking down some vampires. He couldn't find them, but he knew that you had probably seen the ones he was interested in. You weren't able or willing to help. Why is that? -- "Oh. HEY! You're that guy that tried to bull your way past that night there was a murder at St. John's Catholic Church," Charly points to Jerry as she recognizes him. "Why wouldn't I let you in? Well, I was a cop at the time and it was a murder scene. Of course, I wasn't about to let you in and contaminate everything! How was I supposed to know you from the murderer?"

Her animated explanation grinds to a halt as she looks at you with a quizzical look with beautiful eyes, or they would be if they weren't blood-red.

"Uh? Why are you looking at me like that? It's creepy."

• They also lost a friend or relative to these monsters. Ask them who it was.
Carlos Luis Garcia: You're up. Let's bond over a tragic vampire-related death. -- Vampires? Creatures that span generations and nations, it seems each part of their world has their own myth and this only brings more fear for the damned spawn. I lost my childhood crush to one, went back home to visit my parents after years of absence and I find something's off about her. One thing leads to another and we decide to 'catch up' by the lake... and I have to drown her in the nearby river. A strange topic to bring up friend, unless you've encountered similar.

• Relations, close or distant. Tell them exactly what.
Going to pass on this one, but if anyone wants to volunteer, go ahead.

• You saved their life, back when they were a pathetic newbie hunter. Ask them what you saved them from.
Sarah O’Callaghan: You were never really "pathetic," but Jerry did step in to help you out before certain death. What happened? -- Sarah's got a great habit of turning up at just the wrong moment, a while back she walked right into a bloodsucker lair Jerry was staking out. And if he weren't paying attention she'd have a lot more than just the bite marks and scars.

• You respect their hard-earned knowledge, and often come to them for advice.
Zeke Bjarnessen: Jerry and Zeke often run in the same circles. Zeke has been doing this for longer, so Jerry listens when Zeke talks.

• They showed you the ropes when you were learning how to fight.
Jessica Andrews: Jerry's quest for revenge summoned a literal angel of wrath. They feed off of each other's negative emotions. It's not a healthy relationship, but it gets the job(s) done.

• They saw you absolutely lose it and go berserk. Tell them what the situation was, and ask them how much collateral damage you caused.
Cheshire: Jerry had just lost a job at a prison before he was able to clear out the "unnaturals" that he knew were in there. Word got around, and a couple local denizens ambushed Jerry after a night of washing his frustration away with too much cheap beer. Jerry was more than ready for a fight, but his actions were well over the top. You saw the whole thing happen. What did you see? -- Oh, plenty. Not that he'd ever tell a soul, of course. After all, it was quite terrifying to see him rip into those poor, misguided fellows. All of the blood and broken bones... well, it was almost... monstrous of him, you might say. You'd better watch that--don't become what you fight and all that, right?

BACKGROUND
Jerry was a prison guard in the Midwest. He was good at his job, which meant he wasn't well liked by the inmates. That is, until Jerry found out that he was very well liked by one of the inmates, and he liked the inmate in return. When the other inmates discovered this, they were ready to turn on Jerry's beau in a heartbeat to lash out at one of the most least-liked correctional officers.

One gang in particular really wanted to see Jerry suffer. The dumb hick from Texas who ruled the pack -- Surprise! He's a vampire! -- really wanted to see Jerry suffer, so he sucked the blood right out of Jerry's lover right in front of him. Jerry was to be next, but the vampire and his crew of weirdos (that makes much more sense, now) underestimated Jerry's sheer grit and sense of not-putting-up-with-this-shit.

After Jerry's eyes were opened to the underside of the world, he cleared out the unnaturals from his current prison before getting transferred to other prisons in the area to clean them out, also. Eventually, he left his occupation as a correctional officer, driven by revenge and the need to take these new types of hoodlums out of decent society.
