Why I have the feeling I selected the worst skill checks chain for the party <_< hopefully still ok in the end but ... well, gotta see

Oh hell I've taken the bad route, thought at first glance it wasn't very clear

He is absolutely bad at any of these sequences, so he can only pray for divine luck. But he has to try otherwise many dwarves might die.

Somebody has to take the plunge, so he decides to try first. He can't say for sure he will succeed, but it doesn't matter.

There's some of the skills I'll be able to do individually, but hopefully I won't need to do it, not as versatile there

Jens has been paid to not leave anyone else stranded there, and that's what he will be doing despite the worse risks he might suffer as a result.

" The Pathfinder Society pays me well enough that regardless of the added risk, I'm leaving nobody behind. Rescuing the prisoners, or even you, nobody behind. You don't need to sacrifice yourself to try to recover your honor. Your brain was enslaved, not your fault. You will be able to "atone", if there's even a need to atone, by living your best life and fight as so it doesn't happen again. "

Given the duergar resists fire quite a bit, he switches his tack. At the expense of brute damage, he has the ability to turn elemental damage into any of the four basic elements if required.

Admixture school : https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/arcane-schools/paizo-a rcane-schools/classic-arcane-schools/evocation/admixture/ I switch from Fire to Acid damage, Burning Arc is still reflex save DC 19 for half, deals 7 less damage than the Fire version

Damn, the SR. No nothing to ignore Spell Resistance sadly, so I suppose next time I'll do either something else or hoping to roll better on my 1d20+7

Now that he clearly sees the silhouette of the hiding enemy, he doesn't hesitate to point at the exact square. So he advises his teammates while not hesitating to dish some punishment of his own.

" Whoever this nice duergar might be, exactly there. Bash, pelt with arrows, dump every pain you might throw. Probably the last serious threat, or so I hope. Hell I'm cursed if this isn't. "

He casts Burning Arc. Reflex save DC 19 for half

" Well ... I didn't really want to do that, but that leaves me with no choice. This invisibility is really bothering me and I prepared almost nothing but evocation spells. Glad I had some get out of jail scrolls hidden in my spring-loaded wrist sheaths ... "

He doesn't hide his annoyance, but he wants it to be done as soon as possible. He lets a set of five scrolls written in the same page out of his left wrist and starts to read one of them.

Using a scroll of See Invisibility, lasts 30 minutes given the minimum caster level 3. Four scrolls out of five remaining. The other sheath houses two scrolls of haste

" Wherever you are, duergar, hide and seek is finished. "

He doesn't like casting for nothing, but he got fooled by an image. Nothing he can really do about it. But he doesn't give a single damn about releasing everything he has now. He might pay for it later, but he doesn't care, his second-string spells will have to do. Given that Dolamite estimated the location of the invisible culprit, that's where he's aiming at. If it succeeds, great, if it misses then he accepts it.

My last memorized fireball, aiming to take grey in the radius but as such so it doesn't impact The Amazing Vanzetti either, Reflex save DC 20 again

Fireball: 9d6 + 21 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 4, 5, 1, 3, 4, 1) + 21 = 46

He sees one of the duergars is still alive. The other is already well-covered, so he hesitates on which one he should target. After a couple of seconds of thinking, he ends up deciding to throw another fireball towards one of them, as he's thinking, the less pressure on Dornarnus, the better, until changing of decision again as he sees he can't aim the spell without collateral damaging the others in the process.

Trying to fireball Red, Reflex save DC 20 again

Oh basically I'm not a regular PbP player, I only more recently picked it up (you can look at when I created my website account and the amount of posts I have all around) so I usually only depict if there's a slide map

I suppose I can do it at some point for future games

He tries to analyze where throwing his fireball is the safest to do. Old Ironfin is throwing in melee with one of the duergars and he doesn't like the idea of including the bulette as a collateral damage, unless he can do it at such an angle it doesn't cause a problem.

Fireball on Green and Red, and trying to include Yellow in unless Old Ironfin is inside the radius

Fireball damage: 9d6 + 21 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 1, 4, 4, 4, 2, 4) + 21 = 48

Reflex save DC 20 for half, empowered makes it 72 damage

Jens looks relatively unconcerned about the news of more duergars appearing. What he pays more attention though is the idea of slaying someone using enchantment magic to enslave Dornarnus.

" No need for the warnings, I kind of expect more reinforements. But appreciated. Assuming you now have permanent control of yourself, whether you stay safe or want to help us, I don't mind either. Just that if it's the latter, you don't nee doverdo it. We're there to rescue the dwarven survivors, and this includes you. "

I can spend 5 PP from Absalom to there, to call on a cleric or a wizard, but now the problem would be whether Break Enchantment would be enough or if you need something else

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

As far as Jens is concerned, he might be able to understand whether he's brainwashed or convinced otherwise to forsake his mission.

Regardless, he will throw his fireball again against the duergers without even thinking. Dornarnus is far enough from the worst of the impact, he estimates that the most that he might suffer is slight burns, nothing else.

DC reflex saves for the fireball haven't changed, at 20

Fireball damage: 9d6 + 21 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 1, 4, 6, 6, 1, 2) + 21 = 48

He looks at the wand, nothing he hasn't already seen yet.

He will try to yell at the creature, there's nothing to lose by trying. He's just doing it by instinct since he has no formal training in.

" At least there's an opportunity. Might succeed or not, but if Old Ironfin is a bulette and hates the duergars, there's a reason that we might use to our own benefit."

He doesn't feel as concerned , at the very worst, they will do without the creature. At the very best they will have more allies, for him this is a no-lose situation.

Jens knows they're on a timer, but he tries to be as tactful as he might reasonably be given the circumstances. So he's not pressing the issue, at least initially.

"There has been a raid on the Dwarves of Jormundun. They have asked us to track back a band of duergar slavers, defeat them and free who they captured. Any help you could offer us would be very welcome, though I can't blame you at all if you choose to stay neutral in that matter, as it doesn't involve you directly. "

He just only hopes that his approach isn't seen as insulting to Felgriss.

He doesn't mind spending quite a bit on making sure he's fashionable with who needs to be convinced, including using some perfume to put on the final touch on it, unless the mongrelmen are totally unconvinced by the usefulness of the liquid.

This is assuming the Cologne works, if not then feel free to remove the +2 bonus afterwards

" I know you have to man the gate there, but we're really busy. We need to chase a group of duergars and rescue one of our allies in the process, as fast as possible. Could we meet with your leader ? "

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23

Need some help there !

Jens sees one of the bulettes slashed out, one remaining. He still has enough spells without caring too much for the moment, just won't throw his best one again right off the bat and chooses to release an arc of flames which normally would target two others but there's no one else left.

Burning Arc, no secondary target, main on Red, Reflex save DC19 for half

Burning Arc damage: 7d6 + 17 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 1, 4, 5, 3) + 17 = 44

Using a template just in case of, but I verified, I can catch bot bulettes, just barely with the fireball as they're on the limits of the two edges of the template

Jens pulls no punches, he will deal with bad resources later, but he doesn't fancy the idea of getting mauled by two jumping bulettes whose only goal would be likely to gobble him.

Empowered Fireball, Reflex save DC 20 for half

Fireball damage: 9d6 + 21 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 5, 1, 1, 1) + 21 = 47

Empowered version of the spell would then do 70 damage

Breakdown of the bonuses : +2 damage per spell damage dice, Orc (+1/level) and Draconic (Gold) (+1/level) so +18 there
+3 (1 damage every two wizard levels, I have six there)
So static bonus of +21 in total
Number of spell dices :
6 levels of wizard + Spell Specialization (2 dices) + Varisian Tattoo (1 dice)

He fully expects to get aggroed by the two bulettes after that aggressive maneuver.

He took some time before really thinking about it because he had absolutely no idea what to ask. After some deep slumber, he finally decides to ask suit :

" Could we summon some help for the mission if we do need to ? "

That's the main concern he has, anything else looks more secondary.

Jens tries to put his best convincing looks through a mixture of his aristocratic mannerism (without being too boorish) and isn't beneath spending quite a bit on consumables to try to be more convincing. Only after that he's asking various questions around.

Casting Raiment of Command through a scroll, I can't cast it through the wizard class as Illusion is the Thassilonian opposite of Wrath (Evocation), so using it through Sorcerer which doesn't have that limitation. I don't need to roll UMD since I have 12 charisma. https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/r/raiment-of-command/
