This is the first time I'll announce our upcoming app, Combat Counter Mobile for Android (and eventually iOS, I hope) by Treasure Trove Software. I thought this might be a good opportunity to ask people what features they'd like to see in a hand-held app for GM's (or whomever be the Keeper of the Initiative in your gaming group). So far I've either implemented or am working towards the following:

- Initiative and round count
- Hit point counter option for all combatants
- Condition tracking and effect durations
- Enter combatants in any order and sort descending or ascending.
- Choose static initiative values or use bonus + die roll.
- Option to re-roll initiative each round (Ex: 2nd edition)
- Condensed stat block entry including Ability Scores, Armor Class, attack bonus, relevant skills, saving throws, etc.
- Save and load encounter data to file system
- Support for multiple rule sets: 2e, 3.x, 4th, Pathfinder, and possibly d6 (ala Shadowrun) and d10 (ala Whitewolf) systems.

Two preliminary screenshots:

Any other suggestions folks would be willing to offer?

Agreed, I'd like to hear an official ruling on this. Under the Racial Heritage feat, you could choose Werewolf since it's a humanoid race - CE Medium humanoid (human, shapechanger). Werewolves are lycanthropes, and therefore it seems this would be the deciding factor. Does taking Racial Heritage > Werewolf then entitle you to take Aspect of the Beast?

Ok, I see what you're saying now. That makes sense. I still think the character concept is a good build and I'm going to go ahead with it, I just needed clarification on that.

So the Long Limbs ability merely allows you to deliver a touch spell (melee touch attack) as a standard action on your turn, and that's it. No threatened area increase whatsoever. The ability is cool in my book nonetheless. Thanks guys.

In reading through the thread Skylancer refers to, it seems that Produce Flame is a special case that's different from other touch spells.

That being said, I guess the main question I have is not whether certain spells threaten (as I'm led to believe that melee touch spells do, when held), but rather, whether the Long Limbs Sorcerer ability does or does not extend your threat range, and if so, under which circumstances.

The word "otherwise" in the Long Limbs description would indicate that it DOES extend your threat range while holding a charge, but not in regards to any other attack type.

However, if touch spells NEVER threaten for AoOs and can only be used as standard action attacks, then the Long Limbs ability in fact would not increase your threat range at all. But then, why would the word 'otherwise' be in the ability description?

Any thoughts?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I just want to make absolutely sure of something having to do with a character build I'm working on - a 3rd level Sorcerer with the Aberrant Bloodline gains the Long Limbs (Ex) ability, which reads: "At 3rd level, your reach increases by 5 feet whenever you are making a melee touch attack. This ability does not otherwise increase your threatened area."

From an AoO threatened area perspective, I would guess this to mean that the character WOULD threaten 10 ft. away while 'holding a charge' with a melee touch spell, but would ONLY threaten the normal 5 ft. with all other attacks. Since the rule is that you threaten any space into which you can make a melee attack, I would think this to be the case. I had originally assumed he could only deliver touch spells at distance, but wouldn't threaten into those additional squares with said touch spells.

I haven't heard anything conclusive about whether the APG spells are even in the spell database, but I've searched for them in the feed and haven't seen any. As soon as they are they should appear in SpellMaster as well.

The generator pulls the RSS feed directly from the db, so everything in the database's RSS feed is everything that should appear in the generator. I've just initiated contact with Mike and will let you know what he says!

Mauril, keeping track of which spells have been selected over the course of a session is definitely something I'm going to add. It's a bit of a complicated head game, but I'm working on it :) And by domain spells are you referring to the specific domain powers that clerics get with each domain choice? As above, it would be somewhat redundant to keep up my own database when there's already such a great one in existence, but I'll make it a point to ask Mike about that too (assuming that is in fact what you meant. Please clarify if I'm mistaken.)

It's new from Treasure Trove Software and it's completely free. I literally just posted this ten minutes ago. Have a look and let me know what you think. As always, comments and suggestions are more than welcome:

There's a feat called Monkey Lunge in the Sargava, the Lost Colony Companion which is essentially the "Improved Lunge" and negates the -2 to AC when using Lunge.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments. I've been busy with other things for quite awhile, but I'm back working on updates and bugfixes for the generator. If anyone has any other issues, bugs, or change suggestions, feel free to post on this thread and I will get to them when I can.

@N. Jolly + Chris Parker - the number of alternate feat spaces will be increased from 4 to 14 in the new version. I know for myself, with the release of the APG there are several feats my characters will be taking that aren't in the Core Rulebook.

@Ryan Costello - working on a way to implement the dual favored class feature for half-elves.

@Salty - I believe the number of feats given to wizards is correct (ie., I don't think it gives them an extra bonus feat instead of Scribe Scroll) but you're right, the Scribe Scroll box should be checked in the Feats section, instead of including Scribe Scroll in the Class Features the way it does now. Also, I'm unable to reproduce the "Custom Prestige Class" issue you're having. Whenever I type in a prestige class name, it renders to the final character sheet...

@Murlynd - not sure what you're getting at in terms of weapon proficiencies... the weapons section isn't finished, so I'm not aware of any character class being given any proficiencies whatsoever. Please explain and I'd be glad to resolve the issue. Hopefully I'll be including a house rules toggle of some sort as you suggested.

@PoorWanderingOne - nice catch. Working on the minimum 1 skill point per level issue.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

To answer the posed questions:

D.Griff - Healing Surges is a house rule my gaming group uses. We did a short 4E campaign and that was one of the rules we liked, so we brought it over. Basically what we do is, as a full-round action in combat (or anytime outside of combat) you can use a healing surge for your hit die + Con bonus. Even if your Con bonus is +0, everyone gets 1 healing surge at minimum.

D.G. + George K. - Whichever class you choose in the primary character class section (the radio buttons) is assumed to be your favored class, and so the HP/SP slider total is always equal to the number of levels you take of that class.

AngrySpirit - I've been thinking about that, actually. I wonder if Paizo would even be interested in promoting it. I'll have to get with them about it.

N. Jolly + Chris P. - duly noted. More alternate feat slots added to my to-do list.

Arnim Thayer - Traits are just recorded by hand for now, below the feats section... including actual stat changes based on traits is something I will hopefully get to down the line.

winter5101 - Good thinking, that would be an interesting add-on. Listed.

Any additional comments, questions, feedback or suggestions - always welcome!

I originally started working on this for the benefit of my gaming group, but I thought other Pathfinder players out there might get some good use out of it as well. Keep in mind it is a work in progress, but I welcome any suggestions or comments.

Does this convert to the Beta Playtest rules or to the newly released Core Rulebook rules?
