The problem is that the characters who jump into pits of goblins cannot come out alive, if a boss hits 4 times and crits them they cannot be alive, if they fireball next to a boss room and the boss hears that they have time to prepare for the pc's to come in, that kind of thing.

To me it seems they want to roll their faces and win fights without any team work or thought behind their actions.

Yes, I made it a rule already that the group cannot keep the dead persons gear unless its a special item from the book itself.

So far, I have given them what is in the book with 25 point buy, 3 traits with 5 people total. They are all doing well in terms of fights, but boss fights can be challenging, and are optimized. If I gave them more gold than whats already in the book on top of that, it could really skew the fights to being too easy is what im afraid of. I have been a player in these types of games where it is too easy and it is extremely boring and unchallenging.

In a RotRL game I am running, a couple of my players make a lot of stupid decisions in times of stealth or battle in general. It makes them die frequently enough for them to complain about dying and blame it on gold in particular. Right now I have a rule that if you die you keep all the wealth you had previously on your character, not more and not less, as to not die and come back more powerful than everyone else in the party because I think it promotes suicide.

Thoughts on just giving out wealth per level for people who die and instantly get more money than players who have not died once the entire campaign? Their attitudes have shifted to not caring about their character at all (they said so) "because they will most likely die", they want their instant gratification gold or have this poor attitude. What should I do as a DM?

Thank you for all your answers so far

I'm starting a RoTRL group. I want them to have a drawback for their characters based on the 7 deadly sins for reasons in the book. There are already a couple such as envy, avarice (greed), and pride.

Can any of you help think of some for the rest of the flaws? :)

Thank you in advance!

My question is does this reveal invisible creatures? It's very vague.
If so, I think its incredibly broken. Especially since it can become a familiar.

Spell Sight (Su)
A zoog’s eyes radiate normal light in a 15-foot cone and increase the light level by one step for an additional 15 feet beyond that area. Any magic effect in this area glows faintly. This glow does not reveal the magic effect’s school or strength. A zoog can quell or renew this light as a swift action.

Hello, my pc's wondered if there was a check to understand what is happening to Eliege Losandro and what the Book of Nights actually is.

Are there checks to these? Did I miss something?

MY Pc's will be entering spurhorn soon. I have read over spurhorn and the sheer amount of rooms to set up seems a little daunting of a task. Do they go to all 48 rooms of this place? Do I have to set up every single one including the top towers or how did you handle it?

So, I have been gaming with a player for about a year and ahalf now. He used to be my DM and even in the game he ran he hardly prepared etc. Once that game was done, I made my own and have been running it about 4 months. Needless to say, he has a hard time paying attention. Always asks whats going on, plays other games or reads while in the session and so on. I have talked to him about it and he seemingly continues to do it. Example : character of his died, and I offered to help him make a new one. It has been a week and he has done nothing with it, and the game is today. He is too busy playing video games to make one.

So i'm pretty fed up with it, he is nice and I don't really want to kick him but he is very unreliable and im not sure what to do. Any advice?

What dragons hate each other the most? I.E what are the opposites?

Thanks for the replies.

anyone?

I'm building a Goliath druid with the rage domain, and I am running into Rage round problems considering that I count for half barbarian in terms of levels. Are there Feats or traits to bump my Barbarian level to equal my druid level or close to it?

There are feats like Extra rage, and Recovered Rage as well but am looking for more options.

Yeah..quite confusing.

So, giant form I says : When you cast this spell you can assume the form of any Large HUMANOID creature of the giant subtype (those are: frost giant, fire giant, cyclops, ettin, hill giant, ogre, stone giant, or troll).

It states you can only turn into humanoids with the giant subtype.

Giant form II says : This spell functions as giant form I except that it also allows you to assume the form of ANY Huge creature of the giant subtype (cloud giant and storm giant are the only core Huge creatures with giant subtype). You gain the following abilities:

It states it acts as giant form I , but also says you can assume the form of ANY huge creature with the giant subtype.

Can you or can you not turn into an ONI, which is an Outsider with the giant subtype with giant form II?

Nice ideas to far, thanks.

So, i'm in a game and apparently the DM found it worthy to say onyx gems are a hard commodity to come by.

Is there a way to create onyx gems via spell besides blood money for example? (Was bannned) Or magic items that makes it not require the gem in the first place..example being Blackmarrow Altar?

Thanks in advance.

Well glitterdust is a 2nd level compared to first level, I don't have many slots for 2nd is my reasons.

No, the the bosses wouldn't know tactics of our party. And when we get the loot and he copy pastes it directly out of the PDF , suprisngly the locked gauntlet isn't there anymore. So I have a feeling he is doing it out of spite. We also use invisibility before going into rooms boss rooms, and this said boss had invisibility alarm being a cleric. Just fishy stuff.

So, I play a level 4 Wizard in the game I am in and use grease pretty often which helps with boss fights greatly.

Recently the DM is now using Locked Gauntlet on every boss, is there a way to get around this?

is there a way to defend it?

anyone?

Hello, I play a conjuration wizard that summons monsters and have come across banishment. Does Summon monsters with dimensional anchor protect it vs banishment? If not, is there a way to protect it vs. it?

Will grease work on an incoporeal? And if not, if it was used in conjunction with the metamagic feat/rod ectoplasmic would it work then?

Thanks!

So if a fire elemental hits a ghost / incoporeal creature, can it catch on fire via burn?

Can you use rapid shot, haste, etc to give you more attacks to your normal d6+ die Kinetic blast? Or does it only give more attacks to the 1d8 kinetic blast? Or only if you use Flurry of Devastation?

Currently have a player in a group of mine who is level 7 with electricity doing d20+12 4d6+14 to 8d6+18 against touch AC 3 to 4 times in one round doing about 80 points+ of damage. Something felt off, so I decided to ask the experts.

Ohh I like that, thank you Taks.

So, I just got into a game that's running the Mummy's Mask AP. The current party is level 5 so I missed the introduction of characters. I've read the players guide and all but I still seem to have some writers block on how my character will be where the group is and why he is there.

I decided to take the Mummy-Cursed trait that reads

One of your ancestors ran afoul of a mummy’s curse while exploring an ancient tomb. This curse was passed down to later generations of your family, but over time, your line has become more resistant to curses. You’ve come to explore its untouched necropolis, and while you hope you won’t have to face a real undead mummy, at least you have some defense if you do.

I decided to make a Arcanist because the team needed a Arcane spellcaster,
he is Elf and really old. I was thinking on the lines of he wants to find a way to end the curse of his lineage for his children and grandchildren before he dies or grows too old to do anything about it.Maybe traveling from Sothis to Wati to either end the curse of find answers about it?

Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

as the title says, does cold weather outfit give you bonuses to fortitude saves vs cold spells?

Thank you!

So, I am an unchained rogue and I went with the scout archetype. At level 4 there is a ability called "Scout's Charge". It reads as follows..

Scout’s Charge (Ex)

At 4th level, whenever a scout makes a charge, her attack deals sneak attack damage as if the target were flat-footed. Foes with uncanny dodge are immune to this ability.

This ability replaces uncanny dodge.

Does this mean the target is actually Flat-Footed? Or does it mean I just get the sneak attack damage?

Thanks.

Does this spell work in snowy areas? Like the plants coming from beneath the snow?

What stat array should I use for the Arcane Enlightenment caster build?

I was looking online and one of the guides said as follows

20 point buy: 7 str - 9 dex - 12 con - 13 int - 16 wis - 16 cha

What do you all think of it?

So Im thinking about making a Shaman for an upcoming game im going to play in.

Wanted to play a blaster / controller style, most likely Heavens to start off as until the wandering spirit.

Does anyone have any past experiences and or advice on the class?

Thanks!

So it says this for sacred armor :

These bonuses stack with any existing bonuses the armor might have, to a maximum of +5.

Does that mean, if I currently have a +5 bonus on my armor and use Sacred armor it's useless? Or does that mean I get Both?

The "Stacking" and "Maximum" wording is throwing me off.

Falchion is a two handed weapon.

I appreciate all your input though!

Diachronos wrote:
Just curious, but... how did you end up with 13 feats at level 12 as a warpriest?

Human / Human favored class bonus

Sacred weapon increased your d4's to a d10 at 10th level without sacrificing a feat for exotic weapons.

And I have all those spells listed.

Any Feat recommendations though?

Thanks for the answers.

I know that you can't grapple as an AoO unless you have grab or something because normally its a standard action. But what about trip, sunder, and disarm since all it says is in place of a melee attack in the description?

True, but if I had said something after the game for instance. He would still be alive compared to dead for the 2 extra actions that he could not normally take. For something this grand of a scenario, I felt like waiting for the after would be cheating in order to stay alive.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

You can definitely do a swift on your turn and then do an immediate, since an immediate takes up your next swift; but no, you're not a jerk at all.

We all do the same at our table - for good or ill - pointing out, "Did you remember your -2 from sickened?" "Did you remember to add +2 from flanking?" etc. Sometimes we give each other a hard time about it, but it's always in good fun.

Just last session one of our players was helping the GM with the mythic power attack rules for a mythic foe we were facing and included the bit that he could spend a point of mythic power to negate the attack roll penalty. We all jokingly gave him a hard time about it, but it was right for him to have done so.

Your friend needs to not get upset over the rules of the game, and I'm sure he hasn't been upset any of those times you've pointed out something helpful. When you sit down at the gaming table and agree to play PF, the social contract is that we're all agreeing to use and abide by this rule structure.

Thats not true, it says specifically here.

"Using an immediate action on your turn is the same as using a swift action and counts as your swift action for that turn.
You cannot use another immediate action or a swift action until after your next turn if you have used an immediate action when it is not currently your
turn (effectively, using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn).
You also cannot use an immediate action if you are flat-footed."

Maybe I should have specified he did both on his turn.

But thank you for your post!

A swashbuckler in the group used mythic surge - immediate action, Charmed Life -immediate, and another swift action that I forgot the name of in one round.
