Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

Jared Kaal is clearly no match for the bard, Rebel Red. He stands to him feet just in time to be slain.

"Ughhhhhh!!! You . . . suck . . . "

Round 2

"I should have guessed you were a dirty fighter! Well, I won't fall for that trick again!"

Jared Kaal, who is lying prone upon the ground bleeding badly, makes an attempt to stand up (move equivalent actions that provokes an AoO) . He then steps five feet forward and swings his longsword aimlessly at his opponent and thus clearly missing.

Longsword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

"You bastard! This is not fighting!"

Round 1

"What is this trickery?! I should have guessed you would find some way to cheat!"

Jared indeed charges forth and attacks.

Longsword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

AoO granted

"Enough of your singing! Prepare to die!"

Jared Kaal draws his blade and prepares to attack.

Red wrote:

"Give him a sword."

Red looks a little non-plussed, he tightens his own sword belt from its slightly jaunty fit to a more serious bearing.

"He's offered to see to it personally and I demand satisfaction."

"Bring me my blade and I will run you through with it, Bard! I'm not afraid of you!"

As Jared Kaal is locked away in the large cell on the corner, he gives you more threats that are not likely to be his last. "You will all suffer for this outrage! I will see to that personally. You will regret this decision for the rest of your life!"

Rebel Red wrote:
"Why is the forest giant behind bars?"

"I have always wondered that! I was just dutifully following my orders. If his lordship would have only shown a little more mercy to this poor homeless giant, poor Mongo would not have been imprisoned here so long, uncertain whether he would live, die, or ever see his homeland again."

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.
Mongo wrote:
"Mongo want go home too! Let Mongo out!"

Jared Kaal calls back to the giant, "Mongo, you know that I always wanted to free you. It was the orders of Lord Jarmaath that prevented me from doing so. If you ever do escape, which I hope you do, you want to take your revenge on Jarmaath and this Captain here. They are the real jailkeepers that you want to avenge!"

Red wrote:
"The amulet or your head, which are you losing in the next five heartbeats?"

Jared Kaal lets go but still glares in anger. He then whispers threateningly, "You will suffer for this!

I probably should have made sure you had possession of the amulet before I told you all about it, but let's just roll with it for role playing purposes.

Rebel Red wrote:
"Take his amulet, his protests are meaningless" - if no one moves for it, Red will simply take it himself.

Jared Reaches up and grabs Red's Hand as he reaches for his amulet. As he stares at the bard in the face he threatens, "Let go, Bard! You had great potential in working for us, but I see you have shown your true colors. You will regret the day that you ever crossed paths with the Kaal family!"

Tirion wrote:
"Take his amulet, I do not know what it does, but it is clearly magical. I do not yet know if it will allow him to communicate with his mother, but we do not want to risk that."

"Leave it! That is my family crest, and I do not trust it to you or your kind! You have no right to take that away from me!"

Bofus wrote:
He gives a big grin and jaunty salute to Jared before leaving.

"Scum like you will never get away with this!" Jared Kaal claims with disgust. "The Kaal family has very powerful friends and you don't want to know what happens to those who cross our paths!"

Rebel Red wrote:
Red smiles in appreciation of the former Magistrates composure, with that he pulls out the end of his rope and begins fashioning a noose.

"Hey! Nobody said anything about hanging! The paladin said that I would not be harmed if I did not resist. Are you folks going back on your word?!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

"Just you wait, Tiffy. I will be back and I will be stronger than ever and I really really mean it! One day very soon you will see the Kaal family in action!"

Once dressed, Jared Kaal awaits what is to be done with him.

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

Jared Kaal glares at each of you and replies in disgust, "You all should have kept out of this business! You had no right! You do not realize the crime you have committed against me. My mother will get me out of this and then you will really pay the price!"

The former magistrate puts down his sword and begins to get dressed.

Tiffiana wrote:
"Jib Jib, what are all of those people doing here?! I thought you said nobody would bother us here?"

"Shut up, Tiffy! These are not my guards! I don't know what is going on, but somebody better start making it clear right this instant!"

Although he has very little in the way of armor, or clothing for that matter, Jared Kaal stands up and reaches for his longsword in his scabbard, drawing it threateningly.

"Somebody want to explain what you are all doing here?!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

"What the Hell is going on?! I make it absolutely clear that I was not to be interrupted!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

Jared Kaal glares in anger at Lord Jarmaath as well as Bofus, Red, and the remaining heroes. "I can assure you, the Kaal Trading Emporium has nothing to sell to you." Without any further words, the magistrate departs the great hall.

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

I agree with my mother that, I too could use the telepathic bond to be in communication with the rest. We all know that my men are going to be at the front!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

Magistrate Kaal glares at the bard as the song is sung. "Are you, mocking the law, bard?! You do not know half of what these mercenaries are capable of! The gnome and the dwarf need not be the only ones to spend time in my prison!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.
Bofus wrote:
As he nears the Kaal Kontingent, he says jovially, "I know few mercenaries who can claim THAT much success, eh?" with a wink at the young Magistrate.

The young Jared Kaal glares in contempt at all of the attention the heroes are getting from the dignitaries present, but refuses to speak until Tirion addresses him.

Tirion Jörðhár wrote:
Looking at Magistrate Kaal and then at his mother briefly before turning back the Lord Jarmaath: It is sad that there are those here who do not wish out assistance. If those would prefer, we can tell the horde to find another black dragon, another green dragon, several new wyrmlords, and a new Ghostlord. I am sure that the horde would appreciate having these assets back. Personally, I would consider it a wise choice to strengthen the defenses of this wonderful city by eliminating those who would politically undermine the defenses of the city, but I am not a politician and the choice of who is welcomed in this meeting is not mine.

"If you think that it is not wise to question someone who is filled with the blood of a black dragon, gnome, then it is you who are the fool! If I had my way, I would just assume you be locked away in Brindol Prison with all the rogues that you associate with!"

Former Magistrate of Brindol now deceased.

"I beg you pardon, my Lord, but do we honestly have time to hear from these mercenaries when we have the Horde of the Red Hand pressing in on our borders?! Time is not in limitless supply!"
