Backstory

Jak was born on a mining outpost orbiting a dying red giant. Life there was short, brutal, and transactional—measured in quotas and oxygen credits. Jak had hopes of going to the naval academy but despite his superior academics he failed to gain admission. Out of desperation to he joined the marines. The Corps didn’t promise glory; it promised purpose and just as important a way off world. For Jak, that was enough.
He spent the next 16 years making The Corps his home reaching the rank of Sargent. He was a member of the Void Hunters a unit specializing in boarding actions. As a result he became fluent in violence. It hardened him, reshaped him into something that could endure the constant conflict between stars.
