Several questions here;

Are reach weapons worthless in regards to Attacks of Opportunity, ie. If my character is wielding a whip and an enemy enters/passes a square i threaten, do I actually get an AoO, or not?

Secondly; can I perform a trip as an AoO?

My group is currently doing Second Darkness and we are running evil characters (more or less a first mistake, but that's what the DM wanted to go with). I am trying to figure out exactly the route that I want to go with my character in this particular setting. We are already level two, so changes to the core class cannot be made at this time.

Character Stats:
My character is a tiefling sorcerer with the draconic bloodline. The fiendish heritage feat was taken to change the stat bonuses to +Dex/+Cha/-Wis. Stats were rolled, points buy was not used:

Str:14
Dex:16/18
Con:16
Int:15
Wis:15/13
Cha:18/20

Traits: Magical Knack/Rich Parents/Researching the Blot

I prefer to focus on character flavor rather than optimization; not saying that I play useless characters and can't max things out; but I don't want to be a damn cookie cutter and I put a lot into character background because it's the most entertaining aspect for me personally.

I had been considering taking two levels of antipaladin for the purpose of picking up Unholy Resilience(cheesy, I know; don't hurt me) and proficiency with armor and martial weapons. As the character worships Dahak and believes herself to be a descendant of a Hellfire Wyrm, from a flavor standpoint it was great, it would also have meshed well with dragon disciple and put the strength and con bonuses to good use-but in the interest of avoiding party conflict I have chosen not to pursue this course of action as the GM's interpretation of the antipaladin class would put me at odds with the rest of the group, and I don't want to deal with conflict or to cause issues that makes things not fun for everbody else. Now any reason beyond flavor and the high hit die makes DD seem useless. If I could have used the battle sorcerer variant from 3.5 my problems would be non-existent but we are restricted to just Pathfinder materials.

Setting up the character to be a mindless blaster is easy enough. But I'm majorly indecisive about what I want to do with this character in the end and at the expense of sounding like an idiot I'm asking for guidance on where to go from here.

I was recently involved in a discussion with some of the players in my group and something came up that seemed off.

The DM mentioned something about having a character with a 27 strength after buffs. I asked him how he was able to manage such a feat. He said that he was using both a Belt of Giant Strength +4 and a potion of Bull's Strength.

This does not seem correct to my knowledge. The belt of Giant Strength and Bull's Strength both provide a +4 enhancement bonus. I could see the Bull's Strength overriding the belt if the belt was +2, but because they are the same type of bonus, they should not stack atop of each other; after all, isn't this why an arcane caster can't use Mage Armor while wearing something like a mithril breastplate?

The only bonus that i know of for certain that stacks with its same type is dodge, but my DM insists that because the enhancement bonus is from a different source it will also apply.

If someone could clear up the confusion here, I would greatly appreciate it.

This is my first time posting here, hope that someone can answer my questions before i leave for tonight's game.

Last week our DM declared that we were switching to Pathfinder rules; he was kind enough to buy me a copy of the Rulebook.

I've been updating my character to the new system, but I have a few quick questions as I'm unsure about how they work.

The first is in regards to Skills and Class skills. I understand that class skills now grant a +3 bonus as long as you possess a skill rank in them, but nowhere (that I have seen) does it address any special rules in regards to Cross-Class skills.

Is there still a restriction to half HD and ranks costing double, or is it the same as just buying a class skill, without the +3 bonus? Or can you simply not take skills that are not class skills anymore?

My second question was in regard to Linguistics. They appear to have removed the limit to the number of languages a character can learn based on their Intelligence modifier, is this correct?

Thank you for your time.
