About Jack Garey
Jacob 'Jack' Garey has been raised in a small, agrarian village which is notable for two reasons;
#1 It's one of the major seats of the mystery cult of Halcamora, goddess of wine and exotic tastes. The clerics take an active role in cultivating the crops in the area surrounding the monastery, and over time a village has grown around due to natural influx.
#2 Their produce is exemplary.
Those who show themselves as hard workers are offered clerical training as a potential reward for their labours, which includes Jack. Is currently being taught by an older priest (who wants to both refine his own tastes and increase his student's understanding of the necessity of teamwork, cooperation, and patience), and so he keeps on sending Jack on expeditions far afield for more and more exotic ingredients for his increasingly esoteric palate.
As he is not the sharpest spoon in the shed, he relies on locals to help him out, frequently in return for him doing farmwork or minor hunting, which is how he has grown into his skills. However, as his master keeps on sending him on long and arduous missions, he has come to realize that it might be better to grease some palms and let others do some lifting for you. Jack, simply put, hopes that applying for a membership in the Grand Exchange would be just the thing for taking care of business.
