My game group is debating how to interpret the footnote at the bottom of the 'Armor Composition and DR' table, where the footnote says "Brilliant energy weapons bypass any DR provided by armor. In addition, DR from armor is halved if a creature is grappled or entangled, and does not apply when a creature is helpless or pinned."

One faction interprets this as being completely about Brilliant energy, including the second sentence. The implication being that the grappled/entangled/helpless/pinned DR reduction applies only to Brilliant energy attacks. The fact that Brilliant energy already bypasses armor (from the first sentence) makes the second sentence redundant is seen as an error, so the second sentence should just be ignored.

The other faction believes that the main point of the footnote is reduction of DR (as opposed to being mainly about Be attacks) and that the second sentence should be read as true for all attacks against grappled/entangled/helpless/pinned opponents regardless of attack type.

Which is true? Although consensus opinion will be welcome I really would love to have an official response to settle the issue.

Thanks!

Yes, I would pay for this ruleset, as would my players. We've been eagerly awaiting the day when we can play Pathfinder via FGII.

I had a lengthier reply to this, but it seems gone now... weird.

Anyway, I was basically saying you can download the free D20_JPG ruleset and download and apply the Pathfinder extension (both available on the FG website).

What I'm hoping for is the two companies to work out licensing so modules can be created for use IN FG II

I have heard that Paizo and Smiteworks have run into some sort of problem in their negotiations, but that some sort of limited agreement may yet be salvaged. While I am hopeful that they can work something out, I am less optimistic than I was at one time. This is sad, because my players have become interested in Pathfinder but since we are a Fantasy Grounds VTT group I don't want to start using a system that isn't fully supported (modules, bestiary, etc) on our chosen VTT. Thus, for at lest a few of us, FG support is an issue that is preventing us (mostly me, the GM) from purchasing Paizo products - and not just the FG Pathfinder ruleset! This is not out of spite, but simply because I don't have the resources to invest in a game system that I won't actually be able to use.
