Greetings. I am reporting my first sessions as a GM, and have a question -

Quote:

GM Credit

GMs earn GM credits, Achievement Points, and a Chronicle the first time they GM an adventure. Any subsequent GM sessions earn GM credits and AcP, but no chronicle unless the adventure has the repeatable tag. Chronicles earned by GMing must be assigned to characters when received, but do not need to be applied until later. See Applying Chronicles for more details. GMs have a few special rules for assigning and applying chronicles:

Chronicles earned from GMing provide full rewards. That includes all Treasure Bundles/Gold, XP, Reputation, Downtime Days, and access to items and boons.
GMs can choose not to receive a Chronicle for any game they run, deferring it to a future run.
GMs can assign Chronicles to characters currently playing another adventure. In this case, apply the Chronicle after the character completes their current adventure.
Chronicles earned by GMing and playing count equally for the one Chronicle per character rule.
When a chronicle is assigned to a character who is below the minimum level of the adventure, treat it as if the GM had played a pregenerated character at the minimum level of the adventure.
The GM can chose any combination of checkboxes / boons / rewards that could have been earned by a player.

Does this mean that my PC can only benefit from the treasure bundles and downtime once for this chronicle? In which case, why even assign it to a PC if I also intend to play the adventure with that PC?

K then, so 35gp + 60gp + 65gp = 155gp for a shiny +1 Striking Nexus Staff of Air...

Fine by me. :) Thanks.

So I'm a PFS newb trying to wade through all the rules related to my Nexus Staff.

My current working hypothesis is as follows:
.

1- I start at level 1 with my Makeshift Nexus Staff (that's pretty much a given, as it says so in the CRB).

2- At 2nd level, I can pay 38.5gp to have a +1 Potency Rune added to my staff (a common, standard availability item which I can pay The Society to affix for me).

3a- At 3rd level, I can craft my Makeshift Staff into a Staff of Air with a DC18 Crafting check and 60gp in materials after purchasing a 3gp formula from The Society (also, a common, standard availability item).
3b- I then pay The Society 3.5gp to transfer the Potency Rune to my Staff of Air.

4- At 4th level, I can pay 71.5gp to have a Striking Rune added to my staff.

5- From this point forward, I can upgrade my Staff of Air, Striking, and Potency Runes to higher level version by paying the difference in cost?

You don't have to play a PFS character in the AP bit can get PFS credit for the AP.

Yes, this I know. But what if the players want to play their PFS characters?

I suppose I could just have them play copies, leveling them as they go with the understanding that their PFS original will still be at the present level afterwords? Sort of an opportunity to explore how their character will develop at higher levels before committing to a build in Organized Play...

So, a follow-up question: How to integrate Adventure Paths into Pathfinder Society.
Specifically, APs usually run as a single, multi-session adventure spanning levels 1-10 (ie Abomination Vaults). But all the parts only offer 12xp each, at most leveling a character 3 levels. So how to handle the level disparity? Di I start the AP with over-level characters that will be able to handle the final challenges? Do I start them off at level 1 and somehow downgrade the later challenges to their low level? Or do I somehow break the parts up so they're in the right level range for each chronicle?

So, I'm trying to gather a group of Society agents in my local region. Obviously, they'll all be starting out at level 1.
Looking over all of the available content for organized play, I'm curious if anyone has compiled lists of related content that could be used to provide cohesive story arcs for players as they level.
By this I mean: the Trouble in Otari adventure from the beginner box, The Road from Otari bounty, and the Abomination Vault AP all cluster around the Otari/Absalom area and can be combined into a cohesive arc. What other content occurs in the same area and could be included?
Meanwhile The Whitefang Wyrm and Quest for the Frozen Flame seem related by geography, but what other content could be bundled with them?
What other content shares story arcs? HELLPPPPPPPPP......

Hmm, I'm a PF2e newb, so take my musing with a grain of salt.

When I started theory-crafting a Gunslinger character, the whole class entry gave me the "1889 Wild West" vibe. Fair enough, all of the Ways and most of the Feats evoked a Boot Hill scenario in my imagination.

When I started equipping my hypothetical Gunslinger, I found the weapons options to be firmly rooted in the "1789 Colonial" period. The only character image I could muster for the class was the cutlass and cap-gun wielding pirate with a brace of loaded muskets strapped across his chest.

Therein lies the disconnect, for me. The class exists without the gear to support it. There are a few items that come close (Blunderbuss, Air Repeaters, and the Slide Pistol). The Air Repeaters are classic, Revolutionary War-era Girandoni air guns, while the Slide Pistol is effectively a single-action revolver. The disconnect lies in the gap between the Reload, Capacity, and Repeating traits.
In my opinion Gunslingers will only come into their own when appropriate mid- to late-1880's style firearms are introduced, effectively creating a "double-action" trait. Weapons with a Capacity need to be Reload 0 for the purpose of Interacting to chamber the next round while still taking the usual amount of time to reload the empty cylinder to maintain a balance. And there needs to be appropriate Capacity trait long guns. Both the pump shotgun and the lever rifle were invented in the early- to mid-1800's and were ubiquitous by 1890.

@Hulking Hurler - that is ... freakin' awesome.

Thank you all. So much meat to chew.

That's awesome, all. Thank you for the wealth of answers.
My wizard will definitely be taking advantage of his free Legal Lore.
I'm less sure of what my Gunslinger will be taking, but I will ponder at length.

Well, Earn Income and Recall Knowledge literally are the only two actions derived from Lore.
So, to put my question a different way - why should my Field Commissioned character take Lore Legal over Lore Mercantile? None of the bonus Lore categories seem to have much bearing on a session of PFS.
Like I said, I'm a newb. Do things like Legal Lore, Scouting Lore, or Scribing Lore ever even come up in a session?

So, I'm a newb. I have to ask - what actual use is Lore in a Pathfinder Society context?
I mean, my character with Expert Survival skill, Experienced Tracker, and Terrain Expertise - what does being Trained in Hunting Lore bring to my character?
Or, my character with Legendary Diplomacy and Master Society - what would having Expert Legal Lore add?

My question would be - Can we play 1E games using 2E PFS characters & rules by updating the critters and traps to 2E stat blocks?

I'm surprised no one has asked this question yet - Are there Iconic character sheet PDFs of other genders? For example, I have a player who wants to play the Iconic Ranger (or Wizard) but doesn't identify as male. Is there an alternate?

Add Marker Detailed

Password is listed above

Start TYPING (don't copy paste) the location where it says enter a location. The map is pretty good about finding a place when it pops it up, but is terrible about it if the location isn't in it's database. If the location is complicated, copy paste it in then go put a space in between the first and second letter or something. I don't know why that works but it does (can you tell i had to do that for a few locations)

The key things to get are location, and website: somewhere your group keeps their braaaains. The meetup, warhorn, or whatever you use to plan.

PM me or put a post here, Hey wolf I'm at location using this website put me on the map. I have no life.

I'm trying to resurrect the CNY Pathfinder Society. Larger Than Life and Comix Zones are no longer active supporters. I hope to swing by Legacy some time this week.

Thanks for those responses.

On Paired Shot- yes, I knew it should be -10 for the additional Strike, I just brain-cramped.

On Dance of Thunder- I get that MAP could work normally if the others work normally. And I can see the benefit of the feat in getting what amounts to 9 total actions for a turn.

On Twin Shot Knockdown- I can see the benefit of the feat in giving the gunslinger a bonus ranged knockdown attempt for free. Seems a little weak for a level 10 feat.
I assume that I as the player just make the choice of which shot "comes first" at 0 MAP based on the accuracy of the gear?

Same for Two-Weapon Fusillade- Do I just choose which weapon is being fired at 0 MAP?

I have several questions about Gunslinger feats and multiple attack penalties.

Paired Shot-2A
Your shots hit simultaneously. Make two Strikes, one with each of your two ranged weapons, each using your current multiple attack penalty ... This counts as two attacks when calculating your multiple attack penalty.

This one seems fairly straight-forward: a gunslinger could Paired Shot and then Risky Reload, you would roll two attacks at 0 MAP, and then one at -5.
But then there's this-

Twin Shot Knockdown-2A
Make two Strikes against the same target, one with each of the required weapons.

OK, so no mention of MAP. Are both rolls made at 0 MAP, like Paired Shots? Are both rolls made at 0 MAP because the feat doesn't have the Attack trait? Is each attack made using the normal MAP calculation: 0 for the first, -5 for the second?
Now on to-

Dance of Thunder-3A
Take any of the following actions you choose in any order: Step, Strike against a target within your firearm’s first range increment, and Interact to reload. If you attempted a Strike and it succeeded, you can repeat these three actions again in any order. If you attempted a Strike in the second set and succeeded, you can repeat the actions one last time.

Again, no mention of MAP, and the feat doesn't have the Attack trait. Is each attack roll made at 0 MAP, or at normal 0/-5/-10 MAP?
Finally, there is-

Two-Weapon Fusillade-1A
You attack with both your weapons in a furious barrage. Strike twice, once with each weapon.

Still no mention of MAP and no Attack trait. Does each attack roll get the same MAP(a la Paired Shot), or is one at a -5 MAP due to two Strikes?

As a lifelong RPG player, having started with the Basic D&D box set in '82 and having played every edition of D&D and not a few non-D&D RPGs since, who received P2e for Christmas; I sit here reading this thread a month after its posting and wondering "so where is all the new-player, OGL-refugee welcoming effort?
I mean - I have my PFS number, but the closest recorded lodge is over 2 hours away and hasn't responded to my attempted contacts. It makes me wonder if they simply went dark during the pandemic and are now defunct. The few organized play games I find for Feb/March are states away.

It seems that it should be as simple as "Thank you for your order, newb. Now go _here_ to create a Pathfinder Society identity, then go _here_ to locate the closest local lodge. And look _here_ to find the next Organized Play event near you. Welcome to the Society, recruit. See you ate the table."
