Backstory:
Ambros grew up on the streets of Oppara. Possessed of neither a surfeit of strength nor wit, the young man relied on his silver tongue to get by, charming or bamboozling marks out of their hard-earned coin in order to make a living. As a con artist, Ambrus moved from town to town, leaving before his scams landed him in too much trouble. When the authorities began to catch wise to his patterns, however, Ambrus thought he could ply his trade across the border in Qadira.

This was a poor decision.

An attempt to bilk a merchant prince out of his fortune went awry, and Ambrus fled into the desert, pursued by the prince's underlings. He thought to lose them in a lush desert oasis, but he would find no succor there, as his pursuers caught up to him and dispensed swift and brutal justice. They buried Ambrus in a shallow grave, and there, the tale of his short life should have come to an end. But fate had other plans in store...

A decrepit ghoran that called Qadira home came to the oasis later that day. After 20 years, she was ready to regenerate, as she had done many times in the past. She planted her seed in the fertile soil before departing, confident that in several days' time, the seed would sprout and her consciousness would transfer over into the new body.

What she did not realize, though, was that she had planted her seed precisely where Ambros's body was buried. The seed took root within his still cooling corpse, and a curious thing occurred. Ambros's lingering spirit infused the seed with its essence, corrupting the mystic method by which ghorans normally pass on their own spirits into their seeds. Thus, several days later, when the newly formed ghoran emerged into the world, it was Ambros who had been reborn!

Needless to say, Ambros was quite shocked at not only being alive, but inhabiting a body far different than his previous one! His "skin" was made up of fibrous vines and rinds, his face was layered petals that flushed and fluttered at his whims, and his silhouette was distinctly feminine. Over the course of several anxiety-ridden days, Ambros began to come to terms with what had happened to him. He found that he had a connection to natural magic, able to sprout berries and fruits from his body, as well as exude a variety of aromas that could influence those around him.

Still a con artist at heart, Ambros began to scheme how best to use this new body as an advantage. He went full in on his new feminine appearance, adopting a feminine persona and the name Hyacinth. As Hyacinth, she found that her new-found abilities were well-suited to getting into the good graces of people, once they got past her strange appearance. She eventually made her way to Zimar where she gained a reputation as a sort of "bandit with a heart of gold," conning the rich and giving back to the poor of the city. How much of this was true and how much was part of the story that she had crafted to increase her own reputation is hard to say, but she succeeded in gaining the attention of the House of Fate and Fire, who offered her membership in their adventurer's guild.

Now, fully invested in the role of Hyacinth the adventurer, the ghoran seeks to further accumulate fame and fortune...

[spoiler=Questionnaire:
For what reason does your character become an adventurer? What motive keeps them going?

After Ambrus was reborn as Hyacinth, she realized her new strange new body was hardier than a human's and well-suited to manipulating others. She's positioned herself as an adventurer to garner goodwill from the public and help her acquire fame and fortune. Those who pay close attention though might realize that the ghoran doesn't actually do a lot of the work when adventuring, largely supporting her companions and letting them take the brunt of the danger.

How did your character first hear about the House of Fate and Fire?

Hyacinth learned of the guild shortly after arriving in Zimar. She quickly schemed how she could become a part of the guild.

Why did your character decide to join the House over other options available to them? (Feel free to come up with some liberties on this one, whether they were recruited or tried out for the guild) How does the House fit into your motives as an adventurer?

The House of Fate and Fire's roster contains an electic mix of people from strange ancestries. One of their leaders is a lamia! A ghoran is very rare sight in Taldor, and Hyacinth wanted to belong to a group where she wouldn't stand out as much.

The adventuring parties live in dormitory-style apartments. The rooms are quite spacious, and the living/kitchen area is shared. What does your room look like? What kind of roommate are you?

Though typical ghorans don't need much in the way of possessions, Hyacinth enjoys acquiring material wealth. Several trophies from her adventures are on display, and her closet is full of fancy outfits that accentuate her feminine form. There is a large picture window to allow plenty of nourishing sunlight into the room. She is friendly and gregarious to her roommates, the better to lull them into a false sense of security while she plots how it might benefit her to take advantage of them.

While Teladora insists that adventurers don't need as much rest as normal people, Layla disagrees. The lamia makes sure that all parties get at least a week of downtime between adventures unless they ask for less. What does your character do to unwind?

Hyacinth generally tries to keep abreast of happenings in the city of Zimar, as well spending time with the other members of the guild, wanting to be everybody's friend. When not being a social butterfly, she often spends long stretches of time standing in the sunlight, swaying gently to some unheard rhythm.
