Hilarious. Where did you find it?

I used to drive myself crazy trying to think of "catchy" titles that would make me sound creative and exciting. Sometimes I just couldn't, though, and sometimes I'd put in an obviously stupid title, knowing the editors would select an appropriate one.

What was this "obviously stupid" title?

I missed it, but apparently it's going to also be run on Sci-fi Channel and USA Network (in my area, anyway), if you get either of those.

Well done sir. Good to hear he's all right.

How do you get ToEE out of those questions and answers? ToEE was never hinted at GenCon, but Undermountain, which features a prominent inn called the Yawning Portal and is the entrance to Undermountain's dungeons, was mentioned.

Where was Undermountain mentioned at GenCon? If anything from the snippets mentioned above, I'm guessing its Castle Greyhawk and the inn is some place in the eponymous City.

I would have said the Flounder Pounder, but that was covered in the DMG2.

I hope not.

I'd love an AoW hardcover, but this has been blown-up into such a big surprise that I would be slightly dissappointed.

I don't think an Age of Worms hardcover would qualify as a big secret at all. Besides that, its already been written and there are plenty of people down the ladder that could do it instead.

A public, well-written rebuttal and criticism of BADD and its methods can be found here

I think you two are referring to the efforts of one Patricia Pulling and her organization BADD (Bothered About D&D). You can find a very well written treatise outlining and rebutting her ideas and methods here:

Frankly speaking, 'neat' does not invoke images of Greyhawk, so I think we can scratch that one off the list.

Other things James would call "neat" (NOTE: List is NOT all-inclusive):

Lizards that run on their hind legs.
Magic Shell ice cream topping
Kate Beckinsale
Redwood trees
Remote-control dinosaurs and spiders
Best Buy Tuesdays (that's tomorrow! Yay!)
Abalone sandwiches
Tormenting people with secrets

So Erik is working on a project involving Kate Beckinsale covered in Magic Shell ice cream topping (mmm) eating an abalone sandwich (ick) in a redwood tree while stomping bipedal lizards with a remote-control dinosaur or spider that she purchased at Best Buy on a Tuesday. And harboring a dark secret. Neat!

Speaking as someone who missed out on 1e and 2e, I'd find something Greyhawk beyond awesome. Even more so than the preceding paragraph.

Thanks for any help!

I've got all 4 parts of the map. I don't recall which one came with issue #121, but they're all blank white on the reverse side. Also, Wil Save was the last page of that issue, so they hadn't gotten around to reprinting the cover art yet. Where did you hear this rumor?

skull island - so you mean Isle of the Ape is going to be involved? ;)

That was my first impression. Then I remembered that the Isle of the Ape is stuck on a demiplane tucked somewhere on the 163,987th level of Castle Greyhawk, and not actually in the ocean. *sigh* I'll get my Oonga someday...

Count me in for that as well. I'm sick of waiting until the subscribers get their latest issue for my FLGS to get the CURRENT one. Methinks its time to subscribe.

Savages in the ocean? Sounds kinda like a possible Skull Island-like scenario. Or something like a Return to the Isle of Dread adventure? No giant monkeys there (alas, poor forgotten Oonga) but plenty of dinosaurs. I'd much rather see that than plain old pirates. Even ninja pirates. Riding dinosaurs.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Dragon Warrior, the Final Fantasy's we got through VI, and Ultima's VI, VII parts 1 and 2, but my all time favorite cRPG is Betrayal at Krondor. It didn't have the greatest graphics, but it had an awesome storyline and interesting combat mechanics. Plus, it had oodles of hidden treasure chests you had to solve a riddle to open.

I guess I'll throw in the Baldur's Gate series as well, since its what sparked my interest in D&D all over again.

I don't think WotC owns Paizo--they license Dungeon and Dragon magazine to Paizo, but they don't OWN it, unless I'm way off mark.

WoTC doesn't own Paizo, but they do own the magazines and the content within (I guess). Apparently Paizo has the rights to republish anything within, as evidenced by the Dragon Compendium and Shackled City hardcover.

Personally, I think Paizo acquiring the rights to Greyhawk would be a godsend. I didn't get into D&D until the early 3e days, and picked up the FR books due mostly to it being the only setting I was familiar with (mostly through various computer games). It was Dungeon's "30 greatest adventures" article last year that piqued my interest in Greyhawk (though paying $30+ for the latest FR sourcebook that was nice to look at but an indescribably dull read helped too), and I've found it to not only have an incredibly rich history, but also amazing flexibility. I wish there was more to be had, and I'd really like to see Paizo's stamp on the material, but I'll keep buying Dungeon and Dragon as long as the 'Hawk gets the love.

Just wanted to remind everyone that just because your query was rejected before the meeting does NOT necessarily mean that there was something horribly wrong with it. While that's certainly true for some, it could also be that it was simply too close to something we're running, we're sick to death of a given monster/plotline, etc.

James -

Any word on which monsters/plotlines you're sick of this go-round? I figured I'd ask before submitting another evil cultist half-dragon wererat borg adventure query.

For a long time I have been using the Tors, in the southern part of Yeomanry as the location of the original B2 module, I've been looking for the original source on this and can't find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me the orignal source of this as the location for the module??

Thanks

IIRC, B2: the Keep on the Borderlands was either set in the Known World or was completely setting nonspecific (if that's even a word), not Greyhawk. I do believe Return to the KotB places it in the Yeomanry, though. I don't recall seeing it on the poster map either, but I don't have that section handy at the moment.

Quite possibly, but the question is will they be reviewing all submissions up to that date? It's been about 4 months since the last meeting (though that seems to be the average, and the guys were all caught up then I believe).

I sure hope so.

0 for 3 this round. Black Tuesday has been unkind to us.
But yet, I am at peace, for I have learned from my numerous errors how to correctly compose a query (I hope). Unfortunately, the serenity is fated to end, as I have a pair ready to go. :\

Gatekeeper is strictly a Dungeon thing, and it's only for queries and submissions - requested manuscripts still go to the normal addresses. Dungeon@paizo.com remains a valid address, but all submissions sent there get forwarded to Gatekeeper anyway, so it's more efficient to just send your stuff straight there.

*Whew* Good to know. I'm sitting on 3 queries, all sent to the gatekeeper address. For a while I was fretting that I'd possibly sent them into a proverbial black hole after all.

Ccongrats on the promotions! You guys are doing an awesome job at Dungeon. Keep up the good work!

Lucky size 13 here.

BV210 wrote:
12. Corollary question, when it seems most of us males wear between 10 1/2 and 12, why do the shoe stores stock 4 of those sizes and 712 of size 7?

Its to create an artificial collectible shoe market. As with miniatures, sizes 7-9½ are "common", 10-12 "uncommon", and 6½ and 13 being "rare". It should be noted that 12½s are not sold in stores, and can only be obtained by buying a complete set and mailing in your proofs of purchase + 3.95 s/h.

I'm wondering, though, if there is anyone here with something that should have made the summer meeting who is still waiting for an answer?

Boy I sure hope not :\

This may just be coincidence of timing, but it appears that the staff waits to hold a submissions meeting until after all the replies from the last one have gone out. I'm still waiting on responsed for June, July, and August, the last of which should have (barely) made the cutoff date. As busy as things have been, I suspect the next meeting will be sometime around February and cover up through December (though much of this is wishful thinking on my part).

Still waiting for word on my 3 proposals. With luck I should have another 2 in by the end of the month as well.

On that note, can anyone tell me if queries for backdrops/cities of adventure go into the pile with adventure queries, or are they evaluated in separate meetings?

Koldoon wrote:
You gotta wonder how the pile is organized... since both G-cubed and the Wereplatypus have heard, it can't be alphabetical. It's also possible they are responded to in backward order (most recent submitted)....

I don't think they are responded to in backward order either. I have 3 in the pile, the earliest was back in June and one just barely made the cutoff date. I haven't heard back about any of them yet. It would be interesting to know how the submissions response process works, but I'm sure Paizo has to keep SOME trade secrets...
