Hugo looks more than a little bit uncomfortable as he arrives in his vest and top-hat. Miraculously, they fit the large half-orc rather well. It's really quite the turn-around when compared to his previous day's appearance. The only real remnants are the various springs and gadgets sticking partway out of his pockets as well as the ragged pack that jingles and clanks as he walks. It's hard to miss the burly man as he walks, somewhat awkwardly in the new clothing, up to meet the others. His deep voice rumbles out in an embarrased mumble. "Sorry I'm late... I.. had some issues with... um... dressing." The half-orc tosses his pack at the nearest open bunk, which sails over it entirely and clatters to the ground with a crash that causes him to wince. He takes formation without going to pick it up.
The burly half-orc looks extremely uncomfortable and out of place at the meeting with the Viscount Inspector. He almost seems as though he expects to be told that there was some mistake and they meant to send the invitation to someone else entirely. Though he appears fairly well-kept and relatively well-groomed, he is obviously far from wealthy. His clothes are patched and repaired in more places than they are whole, it seems and his shoes appear to be tied with a twisted piece of wiring instead of your typical laces. The remarkable thing about him and perhaps his only redeeming quality at first glance might be the abundance of strange little mechanical devices hooked to his belt and piled up in his pack. Made from mismatched and awkward-fitting parts, it's unclear how they might work at all, except for the tiny little fire-gems intended to power them. Someone with a keen eye might notice that one of the devices features some kind of pulley or belt fashioned from the very shoe-laces that should be attached to his feet. Despite his poor clothing and equipment, it's clear that he takes what care he can with his appearance. He's not dirty, just poor. Or, more likely, he spends his extra coin on gadgets instead of new clothing. On the street, Hugo falls into his comfort zone and inspects the area for any technological threats. This is the mostly-complete stat-block for Lazyclownfish's submission. Since you extended the deadline, I plan to read a bit more thoroughly before writing his background up. He's a half-orc Scavenger Investigator who will eventually take Steamsuit Pilot levels. The basic idea is that he's a struggling inventor who is a bit beat down by the stigma of his race and build, but who finally finds a way out of his rut by getting into the RHC. Not the ideal way to go in his mind, but one he's committed to since it gets him somewhere, finally (and also because the RHC has resources he couldn't dream of having access to for his inventions). I'll flesh the concept out on Saturday. |
