Hoshi stands still watching the strange undead creatures approach, drawing her pistol and choosing the one nearer to herself for her first attack, encouraging everyone to follow suit.

Hoshi looks over the device and any controls she can find. "This is some kind of new Magitech. Very strange."

After the pulse, Hoshi's hair changes color to include a number of stripes of different colors not normally found in human ancestries. Anyone familiar with her early music videos recognizes her look from her early days as a budding music icon. She is also missing a tattoo that was on her right forearm, a violin with musical notes pouring out of it in the shape of an infinity sign.

"Anyone know what those were?" Hoshi asks as she gets out her medkit.

She treats her own wounds after everyone else is helped.

Hoshi slips into the room next to Zmiersh, points at the nearer goo and says, "Let's get that one first!" Then she shots her pistol, hoping the projectile harms something vital to its capabilities.

She casts about and spots two broken syringes. She collects them after being sure to secure them so the needles don't accidentally stick her or anyone else handling them.

Different PBP GMs seem to have different policies about how players are to make the recall knowledge rolls to account for the possibility that a critical failure leads to learning wrong information.

If a spoiler with a DC is provided, it usually means the players make their own rolls and any critical failure is waived, I assume to speed up play. Players are on the honor system not to look at the spoiler without making the DC on their roll.

Those that do not use spoilers usually ask either that the player request the GM make the roll and provide the bonus, or to put the roll under a spoiler and not look at the result.

I assume you prefer the former.

In future PBP games, I'll make it a point to ask about this in the discussion thread before games begin, but it would be nice if GMs would instead always indicate their preference.

Zmiersch seems to know what he's doing, so Hoshi merely tries to see if she can spot any natural hazards to avoid, just to double check his work and sharpen her own skills at observing nature.

We've just hit a run of unusually low rolls, all 11 or less. Things should pick up.

Hoshi has some skills relevant to the task, but she finds herself spending a lot of time keeping people focused and cooperating for efficient completion of the tasks.

"Zmiersch, you can do more than just keep watch. Maybe assist someone when they need an extra hand."

Hoshi has a medkit as part of her gear. She hopes neither her kit nor the one provided for the group will be needed, but she lets everyone know she has some medical training if anyone gets hurt.

After hearing Obozaya's and Hawthorne's ideas, Hoshi seconds Hawthorne's. "We're already here, so let's take care of the perimeter before scouting takes us afield."

We've had some bad news at home that's making it a bit of a struggle to get in the right frame of mind to post. (Our 12 year old tom cat has cancer; he's not suffering bad effects yet, but we don't want to put him through chemotherapy or surgery, so we're going to give him a steroid that may help slow the progression and make the most of the time we have left with him.)

So if you need to 'bot me, go ahead.

I said in my post that I wasn't sure if darkvision would help in a snowstorm, but I just read about a flight to an Antarctic station in the dark to rescue some researchers with a medical emergency, and the pilot used night vision goggles, so I guess they can help.

Before it's too late, I've made a few changes to my character. She now has the Keep on Keeping On Leadership style, which grants her battle medicine feat and a nice directive that allows her to do some healing during battle and enhance healing received by others.

I also had to adjust her gear to give her a medkit and lose the singing coil weapon as too bulky. She now just has a baton and a semi-auto pistol.

Her cash is now 8 credits.

"Hello all, I'm Hoshi Ibarra. If you think you recognize me from somewhere, you probably have seen and heard my performances on the Infosphere. I usually perform with another Starfinder, Jock Burtan. Our duo is called Syzygy. Check us out if you aren't familiar. Just remember to like and subscribe!"

Hoshi is human female she/her/hers. She is 5'7", 130 lb, attractive, with straight dark hair, brown eyes, light brown skin, with a few tattoos on her arms. She is wearing colorful quilted armor and a baton is her only evident weapon.

During the trip, she practices her synth-string, a reconfigurable string instrument that can be played like a violin or a guitar or even a cello/bass. She demonstrates how the instrument is also a weapon, called a singing coil, that can send a line of sound that ionizes the air and then sends a jolt of electricity along the line, producing a resonant chord that starts out pleasant and then turns dissonant, followed by a distinct crack.

She explains that she will not be fighting at the front if there is any combat, unless it is absolutely needed. She will assist others in various ways with shouted warnings, supportive burns on enemies when they become wounded, and coordinated movements. She is also a trained diplomat and will do what she can to insure any communications with strangers make the best impression possible.
