Personally, I think HWalsh's rewrite has one VERY important benefit to it: reading comprehension. We cannot assume that every person reading this book has a college education. A (hopefully) not insignificant number of people picking up the book are going to be kids who go: "Oh, wow! That Book has a unicorn/dragon/whatever is trendy on it and it looks SO COOL!"

The preponderance of polysyllabic gobbledegook is stilted and open to abuse. By keeping this simple you're more likely to get the "Don't be a jerk" across instead of "Why can't you understand this simple Sociology doctoral thesis, you doubleplus ungood plastatic deplorable?"

tl;dr:

Don't assume that you're writing for people who have the same background as you in political speech. Insisting on in-group social science terminology can be just as off-putting as any slur-laden tirade.

Something in an adventure path or similar that can help with Linguistic immersion:

What does Taldan or Tien common sound like? What are common accents for various regions?

What does a Vudrani accent in Varisian sound like?

"Lost Tongues" or adventures that can spring from artifacts like the real-life Voynich Manuscript.

What effects do long-lived speakers of things like Common or Elvish have on other, more fluidly changing languages like Goblin?

I always find out about these things too late to participate....

Though if you make playable Griffons, consider making them just as bizarre as the ponies to "naturalists". That is, these are griffons from the same place as the Sleipnirs, et al.

+2 STR +2 WIS -2 CHA? Mighty muscles and acute senses, but terrible tempers make them brusque.

If they have the same gliding-to-flight thing as Pegasi, they tend to be just as irritated if they can't actually fly.
