I'm going to play Starfinder as an addition to Pathfinder, instead of as a separate game. Golarion isn't gone, it's just interdicted by gods-level magic in the form of a shell that appears to be generated in the Spire on Absalom Station.
Since the Gap, on the planet below, the city of Absalom is a ruin, with the Starstone Cathedral utterly destroyed. The people of Golarion don't know what happened to it. And they are afraid to go find out because most who go there never return. The Pathfinder Society now runs out of two chapterhouses, one in Almas, and the other in Korvosa. And the society, for reasons no one understands, from the top down, absolutely prohibits Pathfinders from exploring the ruins of Absalom. All contact with the other worlds of Golarion's system has been lost since the time of the Gap.
The rest of the setting will remain mostly as is, except that occasionally bewildered natives of Golarion appear in buildings in Absalom Station, and have to be retrained to be able to function in their new home.
I will be allowing all Pathfinder classes and races, as well as all Starfinder classes and races (with possible mods as I see how they play).

Just moving to Star Valley, and wondering if anyone at all plays PF there.

OK, "from time to time" can be forever! But I'm checking in. Our group is mostly LDS: myself, my daughter and her husband, my son, a couple of good friends, and the lone evangelical. We're in SE Idaho. For a couple more weeks...
So, is anyone here in Star Valley Wyoming? I'm moving again, and looking for a group.

Its probably just something to deal with because of how grapple rules got simplified (as much as possible, they were terrible in 3.5, and only slightly less complex now)
so just suspend disbelief!
Unfortunately, it's my character that's small, and keeps getting squeezed by bigger bullies who shouldn't even be able to catch me.

Weables wrote: of course it is. I think you may be confusing the touch attack to attempt a grapple, vs the grapple check itself...
Once you've managed to grab ahold of that fly...how much of a chance does it stand?
Its the hitting it in the first place that may be difficult, due to its size. that has no reflection on its CMD, and is dependant on its touch AC
edit: to extrapolate further, a housefly is far past diminutive for size, and likely has a 16-18 dex for agility.
That gives it a +4-6 AC for size, and a +3-4 for dex. a 17-20 Touch AC
so lets be generous, and say 17. Your average human gets a +0 to attack.
He has a 20% chance to hit the fly in the first place at best, sometimes needing a natural 20 to do so. but once he has that sucker grappled, its game over, automatic win.
Sounds right to me
If there's a touch attack as a precursor to grapple, it would work. But in RAW, there's no mention of succeeding at a touch attack first. And my group is wanting an official ruling because they think adding an extra die roll is dumb. I think being able to grapple a house fly is dumb. They mention that they know people who can do that. I argue that while there are people who can do that, they can't every time, and most average people can't. Et cetera, ad nauseum...
But from every thing I can find, Pathfinder doesn't have a touch attack before the grapple.
I know that this has been done to death more than once, but my question is the opposite of most of the rest.
Is it logical that a creature several sizes larger really has an easy time grappling the smaller creature?
In RAW, it would appear that an average human grappling a house fly is as easy as hitting the broad side of a barn with a rock at point blank range.
Really?!?
By any reasonable definition of the house fly's stats, it has a CMD of about 0.
edited to add: In the earlier editions of the game, it was necessary to hit with a touch attack as a precursor to a grapple. Can we get an official ruling?
*lightbulb* Ah! I feel a bit stupid... Almost as if I haven't been DMing for 25 years...
Thanks!
The spell Breath of Life brings a question:
It claims to be able to revive the newly dead, but the mechanic says: "If the healed creature’s hit point total is at a negative amount less than its Constitution score, it comes back to life and stabilizes at its new hit point total. If the creature’s hit point total is at a negative amount equal to or greater than its Constitution score, the creature remains dead." But the definition of dead IS having a negative amount equal to or greater than you CON score. So, in order for this spell to bring someone back to life, he can't be dead yet.
So, does this spell truly raise the dead, making the above mechanic wrong, or does it only act as a cure spell, making the claim of a difference wrong?
Or something else?
new question, same subject...
I ran a 2 session game a couple of weeks ago. We had so many people show up that we had to split both sessions into 2 tables. I reported them all, but only one table of each session shows up on the event report. And I didn't know just how to claim the GM reward, so didn't enter them. I gather that I can edit the two sessions that show up to add the GM's characters for their reward, but how do I add the entire second tables with their GMs?

Mwaa haaaaa haaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Who is saying that about Christina? Cause I have a lot of spare time on my hands right now, so I can come up there and stab their eyes out for you if you want. She's just a little girl for crying out loud. Every male in the store between 13 and 20. And a couple outside that range. She's currently got her eyes on one a couple years older than she is. But he's getting ready to leave town for a couple of years, so he's not a real threat until he gets back.

BTW, Tarkrashykk says "Hi". But not as much as some people. Yes Heathy I'm talking about you.
So how goes life in Idaho? The Bead Forest has started to sell RPG stuff, but right now it's limited to 4E and Magic. I'm trying to talk them into expanding their selection and setting up tables for open gaming. Cool! I'm glad you guys can get something going. I miss my friends down there, and the store. But I'm now a partner in The Dragon's Den here, and making a whole new set of friends. As for Pathfinder and the Bead forest, just tell them you know a store in Idaho that actually sells more Paizo games than from that other company. And we're a Premier Gold store.
And, my daughter is nearing 17. She's become quite the gamer chick. According to the gamer geeks at the store, she's quite the HOT gamer chick. That's usually when they get the "If you even THINK of trying to date my daughter, I'll hunt you down and hang your head on the game store wall as a lesson to other gamer geeks!" look.

But I also beg Paizo not to throw in audio CD's like TSR did for one of the later starter boxes(and the Glantri box). Oh MAN if you could have heard the acting in those...
Wow! Those WERE bad! But the Midnight Syndicate RPG Soundtrack wasn't anything like that old thing. If Paizo did something similar (or, knowing Paizo, something even better!), it could be a definite asset.
I like the idea of 3 different tracks, but having the fast track still be slower than 3.5 is a little irksome. I think the fast track should be a bit faster than 3.5, and what is now the fast track should be the medium track, and medium track should be slow. Drop the slowest track, or just have it be a 4th option.
