I haven’t added much flavor yet. Most of the abilities are ripped from other sources. Mainly I want to know if it is playable and balanced. The player I wrote it up for is a lvl 1 Oracle lvl 2 Barbarian right now. He wanted to be a combat booster/healer. ~~~,~@ @~'~~~ Fervent Champion Hit Die: d10.
Lvl BAB Fort Save Ref Save Will Save Special Spells Per Day
Dedication of Cause: Chose either the Chaos, Destruction, Luck, Strength, or War Domains. You may not choose a domain you already have from another source. Any effect that uses your cleric level instead uses your Fervent Champion level.
Holy Savage: A Fervent Champion's class level stacks with barbarian levels for determining the effect of his rage powers, animal companion abilities if any, and effective divine caster level.
Rage Casting: A Fervent Champion can cast Abjuration, Conjuration, and Enchanment spells while in a rage, as long as the spell's casting time is no more than one standard action.
Devout Scream: During Rage by expending one use of his rage ability the Fervent Champion grants himself and his allies’ resistance to cold 5, electricity 5, and fire 5. This effect lasts a number of rounds equal your con modifier. Dedication of Cause 3:
Divine Scream: During Rage by expending one use of his rage ability the Fervent Champion grants himself and his allies one additional turn of combat. At the end of the turn in which the Fervent Champion uses this ability all allied combatants take another turn. Effects tracked by turns such as number of rounds a spell lasts, is tracked for the allies taking the extra round but not for the enemies.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some cool DnD/RPG links. Neat Blogs, YouTube shows, web comics, and stuff like that. I am sure this type of thing has been asked before so links to old threads are also cool. I remember watching a web show with a barbarian elf attacking an outhouse. And I would love to have that link again.
A fellow player in my game is playing an Oracle/Barbarian, and wants my help making an effective character. Right now we are level three and he is going to be a level one Oracle and a level two Barbarian. He wants to be a melee butt kicker. My first bit of advice was drop the Oracle level. But he wants to keep it. So with what he has now and going up to level 16 or so what would be a good build for this Oracle/Barbarian?

I am running a campaign with mostly evil PCs. One of the PCs (Urban Druid) wants to be a serial killer. I am inclined to let him. It fits a vague theme of the game and he isn’t the only PC to have a similar antisocial personality. I plan to force the player to limit the PCs killings to in between games while the party is spending one or multiple nights/day in a town. This way I can run his side things and have the fall out happen next game. I told him that it won’t be a free for all he will eventually attract attention and people will be hunting for him. The higher his body count the more people and more powerful people he will attract. With most of the PCs evil I laid down a ground rule that whatever plot or schemes the PCs have their party members are exempt from the bad stuff. If they want to take over the world you plan is to give the party their own island. You can unleash plagues on the land but the other PCs get the vaccine. So, this is something I want to do. But I could use some help/advice on creating the vignettes where he hunts and kills a victim, a system for tracking his infamy, and creating a method of escalating danger as he becomes more well known.
I dislike magic stores. I find it implausible that in every major city there is a Magic-Mart the characters can drop in on and buy/sell whatever they want. So in the game I am running I plan to have mundane stores that carry a few magical items. I will roll randomly a few magic items for the stores within the gold piece limit of the town. One to four items. Those are the items/weapons available for sale. And I plan to only have so much money available to buy magic items off the players. I get that this is going to restrict the players. Especially the players in my group who are used to buying anything they want out of any book they can get their hands on. So I gave them each a magic item at the beginning of the campaign that will level up with them giving each player a bonus tailored to their character. I think the scarcity of magic items will add to the mystique of the world. A +1 dagger isn’t that great in a normal game but when there isn’t that much out there a +1 dagger become much more valuable. And most characters will toss a cursed or “draw back” item. But when nothing else is likely to come along for a while it’s harder to just leave it behind. And dungeon crawls become more important if the only way to get a +5 Holy Flaming Long Sword is to go and take it from the Bodak’s hoard. What do you think? Good idea/Bad idea? Questions? Comments?
I am running a game where the PC will be traveling between towns. The land between towns is a blighted wasteland, with mutated creatures and warped laws of nature. Each town will be unique and have a wall or barrier around it. Here are a few ideas I have already. Undead City
Clockwork City
Temporal City
OZ
Any one else have ideas? I could use them.
I am planning on giving each of my players a magic item that scales with then as they level. The reason for this is I plan to run a low magic item game and want then to still get cool ness as I level their items every few levels. Because this item is going to (hopefully) be with them for the entirety of the game I want it to be something they think is cool. So I am planning to let them pick the magic item. They will get the item at level two, and it will be master work. If a player wants a masterwork long sword that is fine. But what if they want a Greatsword or Fullplate armor. I am trying to give them an item they can use at later levels but I don’t want to make them over powered at level 2. How should I handle this?
I am about to start a campaign. What I would like to do is hook my lap top up to the gigantimous TV the host has and display pictures as we go. The idea is to have the pictures be landscapes, NPC portraits, and maps. Is there a free program I can download that will let me create a skin over a map and erase it as I go? The only place I can think of for good graphics is Deviant Art and Google Image Search. Are there other places I could look?
So I am planning on running my players through a low magic item game. There will not be magic shops but I will roll randomly to see what magic items are available in each town. If they want the randomly generated magic items they can but them but they won’t get to go shopping for a +2 flaming whip. I get that this is going to frustrate my players a little. So I thought at the beginning of the game I would give them a Master Work item of their choice. As they level the item will grow. I figure it gets a +1 every three levels starting at level 3. And as they adventure the item will gain item abilities. Flaming, Ghost Touch stuff like that. So at level 16 or so they will have a +5 weapon with abilities equal to +5. My plan is to let the players choose the item that grows. I was going to give them all weapons but mages really don’t use melee weapons much as they level so it would be pretty useless for him. If they pick a weapon then the whole thing is pretty straight forward. But if they pick something like boots or gauntlets. How do I handle that? I could give them plusses to their AC or key ability scores. Would that be equivalent in power to a magic weapon? Any critiques or input on this idea?
I am about to start a low level (2) campaign. The world isn’t Pathfinder but the rules are. My idea for a world was that it’s primarily post apocalyptic. One day X years ago a black tower appeared in some remote corner of the world and all the plant life started to die. The blight kept growing and growing until now it covers the world and only a few pockets of farm land are left. Each pocket of land left unblighted has some sort of protection keeping it safe but the Blight is slowly winning. The players want to play evil characters and I said that is fine as long at they work as a group. I decided the players are the latest generation of destined heroes. The campaign starts on their coming of age. I am pulling dragon marks from eberron and slapping a tweeked version on to the characters to mark them as the destined ones. When they get to the tower (hopefully level 10 or so) they will find that he life force of this world is being drained out to sustain several other worlds. They have the choice to go to another lush world, save this world, or stay here and let this world die to save others. So now I am looking for plot and plot hook ideas to help move the characters through the world on their destined journey to the tower. Any ideas?
One of the things I love about coming to the message boards is the stories. So I thought I would start a thread to collect some. Story 1
The group had discovered that a group of assassins were testing a plague on the town they were in. The group intercepts a communication between assassins; it basically said “The only apothecary who currently knows of a cure to the plague is a dwarf who lives in a short tower in the east side of town. He never leaves his home he is extremely paranoid. His home is likely to be riddled with traps. Kill him, and burn his library. Hail the Bone Assassins!” I mapped out 5 levels of tower. With traps and trap like encounters. The whole place was sprinkled with treasure and one big reveal as to the nature of the Bone Assassins. Namely that they were the light weights of the Assassins Guild and the party still had to watch out for the Blood and Flesh Assassins. The Party gets together and decided to send a letter to the guards. They paid a kid on the street to drop the letter off, and not tell anyone who they were. And they went shopping. They were worried the town guards may have been infiltrated by assassins and didn’t want the assassins to come after them. I figured the anonymous tip did alert the town guard in time to get some people down there but really what are a bunch of level 1-4 warriors going to do against a tower full of traps a few trained Assassins? (lvl 3-5 Rogues) The next game the party is alerted to a massive fire. Three guardsmen were in the tower when it went up and the guards are spread thin because on top of this they have normal law and order type stuff and a minor noble is freaking out because her son didn’t come home yesterday. The only clue is the kid brought home a gold coin the day before he disappeared. They are calling on the local adventure community for help.
My level 16 party is running around Sigil at the moment. We are a Barbarian, A Wizard, A Psychic Rogue(3.5 Web Published), an Ice Witch(Third Party), and a Cleric. We got ourselves involved in a “game of nobles.” The gist of the game is that there are 50 levels. At level 50 there are 50 nobles at level 49 there are 49 noble at 48 there are 48 and so on. How you gain in level is when there is a slot open in the tier above you you can get voted up to that tier. You can make that opening or wait for one to open up. While we were putzing around looking for work we were sent to a drugar merchant. In to course of negotiations he threatened the party and the friends and family of the party. So he is now on our list. He employs Ifreet and does a lot of business with the City of Brass on the plain of fire. So we decided to take him down Djinn would be eager allies. So we track down a few and ask for their help taking down the Drugar. They will help us IF we sink a few of the Drugars’ ships. So my questions for the forum are thus. How would you go about sinking ships that sail on the elemental plain of fire? Do you have any idea for taking out the Drugar? If you wanted to gain levels in this game how would you go about it?
I don’t remember the name of the spell or what book it was in. I remember it was a [Force] spell. It created a dome of force around the caster. I think it had an immediate casting time. It was also an illustrated spell. I saw it in a friend’s book. He has an impressive library of pathfinder and when I have tried to find it on my own I can’t. If it is an OGL spell I would love it online, but if it isn’t the spell name and what book it is in would make my campaign. |
