To edit my character, I click edit document and then what.. post in the big white "Post Reply" box? do I mess around with the drop down boxes located around the edit document button? One is view template and edit template.

Edit document, type in box, then save document.

It is a little clunky, but my biggest quirk is that it logs me out pretty frequently. Save just as frequently!

A few questions on character creation:

- HP: full HD at 1st lvl? 1/2 HD + 1 at all subsequent lvl?
- I see people rolling starting gold. We're rolling and not doing avg, am I correct?

Deevor,

I hit reply to the "Welcome to the Haunted Forest" thread, but it just reloads the page. Just want you to know that I am around.

To the others in my group, I will be going to a wedding FRI - SUN. I will try to stat up Herc before I leave, but will not be able to start till MON. Hope that's ok.

I think the paladin will do quite a bit of damage if he hits consistently. Two things to think about:

1. The lack of a tank to stand in the path of monsters.

2. The lack of healing in combat.

I am also a bit confused by Herc, his stats look set up for a paladin/rogue????...can you add background and some idea of how you see the character progressing?

I'm enjoying looking at what we have so far.

Deevor, the stats are so because Herc is going to be an archer. I will get some background info before the 14th.

This is Wilhem with my halfling paladin, Herc. He's not done yet, but you can look at his stats. I'll make updates as the day go by.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Hey guys, I am bowing out of this one. Nightflier, thanks for opportunity to play in your game.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Herc reaches down and shakes the unconscious form Lureene. "Wake up girl," He bellows, "we need your magic!"

Male Hafling Paladin 1

I think there are quite a few people before my character. If they don't post after a while, I am just going to say Herc wakes the girls up. Starting with Lureene, then Meera.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

"Damn, I wish I had brought something to throw at that monster...might as well wake the girls up."

Herc moves toward the sleeping women, swapping at tentacles as he goes.

Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Dmg: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Looks like I go first. I am going after the moldy mess. Casters, please support.

Seeing the moldy mess, Herc shrugs to Al, "Whatever it is, we should probably pulp it!"

Before anything else in the room has a chance to move, the stony dwarf rushes the monster and swings his earth breaker.

Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Dmg: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Male Hafling Paladin 1

"Oh, there they are!" Herc points at his gear in his sack. He goes over, shoulders his pack, and lifts a large hammer with spikes out of the goo. "This is Tormer, short for 'Torag's Hammer'." The stony dwarf hefts the weapon with pride. You can tell Herc isn't very imaginative...

As the slimy cords uncurl and move toward the party, Herc faces them with a grim smile. "Time to warm Tormer up!"

Init: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Male Hafling Paladin 1

"I am Herc, praise Torag that you are here," says the stony dwarf to his rescuers, banging his fist on his chest as he utters his god's name. "I am to bring the Forge God's fury to places of injustice and I do not believe it is by coincidence that we met. Please allow me to join your group."

"Now," mutters the stony dwarf, scratching the back of his head, "where's my stuff?"

I am assuming we ended up where we are w/out our gear? If not, then all Herc's stuff is still in the sac where he popped out from, and his low INT simply did not allow him to remember. A little assistance would be appreciated. :)

Male Hafling Paladin 1

No problem!

I'm gonna include you in the game as soon as the next fight ends, so keep an eye on the game thread.

Sure thing, and I added the traits.

Your background is great. You can take a bonus feat or bonus skill or two bonus traits.

Just to clarify, we get all three? (1 bonus feat, 1 skill, and 2 traits)

If so, excellent...

Ok, I think I may have found a winner. Half-Troll(LA +4) Human Ranger/Fighter 1

Half-Troll AND Human?

Added the new feat, Herc is good to go.

So is my bg ok?

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Herc's BG is up. Hope it's ok.

So I"ll apply the d8 and the skill points. Thanks for all the pointers!

Have you included Expert class?

Good call. I took Expert into account when I calculated my skills (ergo, the 5 skills instead of 2), but did not actually list it. It's now part of the char sheet.

Question:

- Do we get any traits?

- I took into account favored class. What about other characters with non-standard races from 3.5? Do they get favored classes?

Male Hafling Paladin 1

I am done with all the stats. Just need to come up with a BG and a combat guide so that in my absence, someone can use it play Herc during battle.

I can live with those... now I just have to decide what I want to play. Hey Nightflier, could you rattle off a list of what PC classes/builds are involved currently?

I would like to have an idea of the party composition as well. It'll help me narrow down which skills to pick.

nightflier wrote:
Now, Dwarfs are not very well liked in Kaledun (neither are the elves), so I would suggest that you create a with a background from another world.

No problem, I already have something in mind. Let me finish stating out my char first.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

I decided to make Herc a Half-Elemental Dwarven fighter/paladin. Question, if I give him a level of Expert to boot, do I get the Expert's amount of skill points per level (6) instead of the fighter's or paladin's (2)?

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Here's Herc, the half-earth elemental half-orc fighter/palain. You can find his rolls here

Ability Scores

STR = 16 + 4(TEMPLATE) = 20

DEX = 13 - 2(TEMPLATE) = 11

CON = 15 + 4(TEMPLATE) = 19

INT = 8 = 8

WIS = 9 + 2(RACIAL) = 11

CHA = 16 = 16

If we're using pathfinder beta adjustments for base race, then Herc might have to be another race (leaning towards half-elf) since in beta his INT would take another -2. But before we do that...

I am curious as to what else I can do to bring his LA from +3 to +4. Is another +1 template allowed? Is there a list of NPC classes out there? Are there other ways to raise his LA?

Also, what other rules are we pulling from beta? Are race adjustments the only thing? I am assuming base classes are PRPG.

The fighter/ranger idea simply didn't work out cause I envisioned a two-handed weapon user, which means the ranger's combat style feats would have been a complete waste. Going down the paladin's path, Herc's melee ability would eventually be bolstered by Divine Bond, which imo kicks major ass. Thoughts?

I believe half-earth elementals have a LA of +3. Is everything I am doing so far right? (never used templates before)
