Or if you do not want to give them a class, allow Element creatures, or half-elementals as cohorts using the templates from THE MANUAL OF THE PLANES. I use these templates all the time and I think they are really keen.

I have not got mine yet either. It made me sad to see it on the self of my gaming store before I got mine.

People have posted a lot of really cool ideas about how to utilize this empty page. If the decision was to be made democratically (and it isn't--thank the gods) I would vote for Dextolen's idea. I think the most difficult part of creating an adventure is trying to make traps, puzzles, and riddles that don't suck.
For me at least, whenever I think I have made a neat puzzle, trap, or riddle, once the players get their, they always figure it out relatively quickly and then inform me that "my cool, unique idea" was actually from an episode of Thunder Cats or GI Joe or something.

Do any other DM's actually want their PC's to have access to this stuff? Or, is it just the principal of the thing (which, by the way, I'm fine with - PC's don't always have to be able to get whatever they want)?

I was planning on running this adventure, but I was not really concerned if the PCs get what’s in the box or not. I am pretty sure that my PCs will try to get the shiny prizes, and when they do then I will have Aubreck hire some other adventurers to mug the backstabbing PCs and take back his stuff. I love when the PCs give NPCs reason to hate them.
