He seems straight forward, boss, but...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 = 26
Helac nods almost imperceptibly to his crystal companion. But he seems... as if he has stopped short of revealing all he knows. I think I, too, sense words unsaid hanging about the periphery of his thoughts.
Helac clears his throat and uncharacteristically speaks, "I believe the creature says something like 'you who softly enter my tomb, do you know your purpose? You do not come as one of the devout to give offerings to me, for you know no such thing has occurred for a thousand years. No. I have felt what you have said from with my Temple of Starlight. It is not to give, but to take for yourselves. A betrayal lies within your future if you continue forward.'"
Helac shifts back to projecting, attempting to be subtle about the transition to outside observers, So I suppose this leaves various possible subterfuges at a dramatic disadvantage, though the betrayal he/she/it mentions could be Anesti turning on us... which I already surmised was a distinct and probable possibility.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac thinks for a moment and projects The time is approaching when all the Teeth of Khyber will unite... I am not sure I like the sound of that.
There also goes my personal theory that there were two teeth, like snake fangs. He projects with an almost imperceptible shrug.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac pauses thoughtfully, hoping for some bit of tactical brilliance to occur bubble up from his subconscious... but his well of inspiration is apparently dry.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
After the creature charges back into range, Helac thinks to himself to take a shot at the huge beast. After a moment of concentration, an arc of iridescent energy arcs towards the huge creature.
Ranged Touch/Induce Pain: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
...and soundly misses. :\

I believe it got closer on the first turn, but Charivia's fear effect succeeding made it flee back down the corridor.
So there was a small window when we could see it down the split, (think around P13) but we still couldn't quite reach it, and now it's retreated.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac moves to forward 20' to L9, careful of the stalactites, and focuses once more. Vigor. Standard action. 5pp. 4pp for 20 temporary hp on Kiana and 1pp to echo it to Charivia.
Projecting to the group, minus the frightened monstrosity, You are about as hardy as... I can make you for the next few moments. And... I wish positive random happenstance to us all.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac blinks.
Charivia's mastery of simple fear is... impressive.
Yeah, boss. Maybe you should consider something effective, too.
Helac shakes his head but refuses to rise to Eroh's baiting.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
... uhh, life mostly, but I feel badly phrasing it as such when the rest of the group puts up with so much more trying circumstances. I apologize for the delay.
Helac moves a little closer Move action to J6 and concentrates for a moment, psychically bolstering himself and Nik'o. Vigor. Standard action. 5pp. 4pp for 20 temporary hp and 1pp to echo it to Nik'o.
Projecting to the rest, he asks, I... in theory... have room for one more in the collective. Should we add... our unlikely ally?
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac shakes his head for a moment, as if clearing away internal cobwebs or jarring loose a particular thought, and notes to the group, Hungry and wondering about a world a least a few centuries gone, his internal monologue has no coherence. This thing is... relatively mad.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Well, I suppose the silver lining is that they are engineered to fall. :)
Or it could be that we could/should be aiming at squares underneath the stalactites to set off the 'traps'?
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |

Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 14 + 2 = 27
Helac mentally agrees with Kiana's observations about the stalactites and accepts Nik'o's information without comment.
He focuses on the monster and attempts to forcefully link it to his collective, in the hopes that there will be life energy he can steal from it. Unwilling participant. Will Save DC 19.

Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Projecting as an aside to the halfling, Helac adds, Much like Kiana, I cannot... fault you for that, Charivia, though I've found myself appreciating the aid you have given. I will miss your company once you are gone. He nods once to her and steps to the edge of the hole.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Perception: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 2 = 24
Projecting to the group at large, Kiana, asking... or even expecting me to be unobtrusive is... unrealistic, even if I try. That being said, Helac grabs the edge of the hole and lowers himself down to lower the drop. Once hanging as far down as possible, Helac lets himself slip from the edge, flexes and collapses his legs so that he falls into a roll at the end, making as little noise as possible.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 2 = 18
For the Elan, he doesn't do an awful job, though sharper ears could easily pick up the thump of his feet and the creak of his armor.
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac sighs inwardly. It was too much to hope that they just had the one.
Eroh projects, What do you mean, boss? This is one is probably bigger... or stinkier... or both. It'll be FUN!
There is a moment of surprised contemplation, then Helac responds Oh... dear gods. You actually believe it's fun don't you?
Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |

Helac mentally retorts, ...I am under the impression that they wanted to open the tomb to get the magic items inside, specifically the Tremble Tooth. Or am I wrong?
Acquiescing to Nik'o's question, he continues out loud, "I suppose then... how does the living key work, and what do you want to do with the tomb?"

Internally, Helac notes, My. I knew he was talented at deception, as most changelings take to it, but Nik'o would make a wonderful actor.
Projecting to the Kiana, Charivia, and Eroh, hoping to not break Nik'o's concentration, Helac adds, Watch the minions as well. One might attempt stealth or... some sort of sudden strike.

The Kalashtar left peacefully.
As to the taking you hostage, I'm not much of a fighter, and as such, don't know if I can sell such a ruse, but I shall try.
Helac shrugs his shield onto his back and then pulls a brass knife for camping from his belt. Stepping up behind Nik'o, he places it to Nik'o throat, and gestures with his morning star.
"So, you suggest Nik'o is now instrumental in the opening of the tomb. That would suggest we are now in a better position to ask a few questions about the Tooth and the Tomb... or am I wrong?" Helac grins in what he hopes is a creepy or unsettling manner.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Helac sighs inwardly, and projects to Charivia I remember this One. It tricked three other Kalashtar into... participating in the ritual that brought you back.
Expanding the projection to the whole group, Helac continues. I imagine It means... and needs Charivia for something, though I do not know what specific purpose It has in mind. Before you arrived Nik'o and Kiana, Charivia was raised... from death thanks to It's manipulations and some items that allowed them to channel magic beyond them.
If I remember, you were there right after... the event. However, my recollection of what was actually discussed and shared, then... is already a little hazy, though it has only been... a few days.
I must be getting old. He quips without any real energy or humor in his mental tone.

Helac projects, rather abashed, I... well, I currently do not have the psychic and mystic detection power at my disposal. I can meditate and regain it tomorrow, but, today... I am stuck without.
Well you are just on a roll today, boss. Eroh projects with a thread of playful glee.
Silence from the peanut gallery, you heckling hematite. Irritation plain in Helac's mental tone. I am not above putting you in a lead lined box for the duration of our journey.

Male Elan Vitalist: 5 | HP: 38/38 (+20 temp hp) | AC:17 T:11 FF:16 | CMD:12 | Fort: +8(+12) Ref:+2(+6) Will:+8(+12) | Init: +3 | Perc: +12(+14) |
Helac decides to aid Kiana in her search for arrows. It is infinitely practical to help the group's archer to have what she needs to pinion enemies.
Helac's Aid Another/Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
As they search for arrows, Eroh and Helac consider Kiana's statement.
Aid Another: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 1 = 14
I think she's got a point, Boss. There is a spell for that isn't there?
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
Thinking for a moment, Helac considers what he knows of the convergent points of the psychic and arcane disciplines. There is a power some call Repair that has a strong similarity to the magical spell Mending. Though I am actually capable of manifesting neither... at least not without some sort of training or practice.
Eroh projects to Kiana Yeah, boss is pretty useless when it comes to fixing non-organic things, apparently.

Helac, with Eroh's help, apparently notes the scrolls and bag of coins quickly, but allows Nik'o to continue digging through the refuse. Thinking to himself I suppose I shouldn't spoil the surprise for him. He seems so intent.
Allowing his eyes to widen a bit upon Nik'o's 'discovery' of the bag, Helac waits a moment and then asks This does make... two lockets. Which one was the... priority again?
As the thought crosses his mind, Helac projects with a thread of excitement finding it's way into his mental voice, Oh, and the keys I am guessing... are keys to auxiliary rooms in this overly elaborate safe. I think I should like... to try them on the hidden door to where the ghoul was trapped if we pass that way again to possibly test that... hypothesis.

That's true, Eroh, but many of the Thousand Eyes lie like they breath, constantly and instinctively.
Helac spends a fraction of his concentration to gauge the relative extent of everyone's wounds. Health Sense. Swift Action.
Projecting the to group, Helac notes, Whatever we decide to do with him, we should do it soon. The additional disorientation he suffers will soon fade if it already hasn't.

Sure. Helac takes the necklace.
Helac clears his throat, and gestures with a thumb toward Nik'o. "The graceful and angry avian woman means him. ... I would recommend you tell him... anything of import as well.
Kiana is apparently Hell on Wheels with those intimidate checks. :)

Yes, please. Moving adjacent (even if at a slightly lower elevation) would be preferable. BY72 it is.
Working under the assumption that at 0hp, prone, and nauseated for 2, maybe 3, more rounds, Helac can rummage over the changeling's person to try to find the magical contingency necklace, he'll do so fearlessly. ;) ... But just in case the changeling has some sort of ability or contingency for actions when in a similar condition...

Helac projects to the group with a bit of surprise in his mental tone, Well... Wonderful. I didn't... actually expect that to work.
I suppose it's time to press one's luck. Helac moves toward the changeling, hopping down into what were once the shallower reaches and begins picking his way across the floor. Hops down in BY72. Trying to make it to BY71, but I'm not sure if Helac's 20' movement is sufficient to do so.

A bass-pitched hum eerily akin to many deep-pitched voices issues from the vicinity of changeling. The sound is soft enough that it can be heard only within 15 feet to those paying attention (with a successful DC 10 Perception check).

Helac glances around, and, thinking to himself, decides to try something that he hasn't done in a while. I am not combat capable, but maybe this one isn't either, considering how he smartly hides behind terrain and traps. Maybe one of my weaker manifestations might have some effect... if its body is weak enough, but I must get closer.
Backtracking, Helac turns around and attempts to leap back across the waterway, this time deprived of his momentum. -4 for under 30' movement.

Coil and spring, boss, and don't forget to push all the way from the toes.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 - 4 = 20
Subtly pleased, Helac projects You are... surprisingly knowledgeable, bauble, considering you don't have a body.
Boss, I'm a splinter of your psyche, as you used to be fond of saying. I am at least passingly familiar with your physical abilities... and shortcomings. Eroh responds matter-of-factly.
I take it back. I'm going to... sell you to a gem cutter. I hope he gives you to an apprentice to practice on.
Helac moves as close as he can to the changeling, BX75 I think, accounting for 10' on one of the diagonals. hopefully within the thirty feet or so for some of the weaker manifestations, and focuses his will on the changeling. A subtle chime rings once in the minds of creatures within 15 feet of Helac, a small sign lost on all but Helac and Eroh.

Helac takes a double move around the edge of the water to BW73... or less or more depending on how you count his 40' movement trying to get closer to Kiana and Charivia.
There is little I can do to reach... the adversary, and even if I were even able to do so, he'd probably just manage to drowned me.
Kiana... Charivia... do either of you have any hidden proficiencies or talents with mechanical devices? If Nik'o has a difficult... time with the plugs, working on the machinery over there one on BZ70 and there one on CI73 might bear fruit. Helac nods to the areas and mentally pictures them as he does so. I, myself... do not think I could decipher their actual function.

Turning his concentration to Nik'o, Helac adds, Good luck then, sir. I was going to suggest the apparatus connected to the plugs first, but... I can see going straight to the source would definitely work rather than possibly work.
Manifesting Share Pain through the collective. 3pp. Standard Action. As the two willing targets part, I'll take half of Nik'o's damage.

Responding to Nik'o's rhetorical projection Helac adds, Well... pinning him is grappling him, and I think... that would favor the strong, or at least someone who could make himself such. I myself... have never been good at that sort of thing. I've preferred mental pursuits.
Is there perhaps... some sort of way to drain the water... to force him to at least engage in land based combat?
Once the idea strikes him, Helac begins to look around somewhat frantically. Eroh, see if you see anything that would aid in draining the water... or at least mitigating his aquatic advantage.

Eroh prompts Helac after Kiana mentions the locket, Boss, didn't one of the minions say something about the locket?
Indeed, Eroh. Thank you.
Projecting to the rest, Helac mentions Oh, yes... Kiana. That reminds me. Chumani intimated that this Leehlan had no such locket when they confronted him last... so, you might be correct and he's... she's... it's stashed the item somewhere nearby or I assume the locket is not the real reason Anesti wanted Leehlan out of the way.
Though stopping this... person is apparently useful to Anesti's plans in some fashion... obviously.

I think... since I said Helac stayed pretty close to the entrance, he was probably around BW70 before the bull rush bolts.
Taking the blow to the chest and sliding back, he shakes his head to focus and concentrates on the Yuan-ti. Unwilling participant. Will save DC 16. SR doesn't apply/Collective is a SU ability.

Why would she be swimming in the water in the first place, boss? There's not a lot of good reasons for you squishy types to go for a swim in a tomb.

I'll agree, my bauble, that there is no good reason... so it must be a bad one.
Helac, hanging back by the entryway, channels vigor into the two closer compatriots.
Vigor. 4pp. Standard Action. 3pp for +15 temp hp to Nik'o and 1pp to echo the effect to Kiana.

Helac floats along with the rest of the group, silently agreeing with Nik'o's plan. As they begin moving out of the immediate vicinity of the rival group, Helac concentrates and performs some of the necessary biological upkeep on his compatriots. He also pats Charivia on the shoulder in what he hopes is a comforting fashion, after Nik'o's accidental shortness, attempting without words to indicate that no one is truly upset with Charivia herself.
Dispense with Display: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
DC 18. Success. Body Purification. 5pp on Nik'o for 2 Con back. That leaves him down by one Con.
Remind me, please. Does anybody else have any temporary ability damage.
As Kiana moves ahead to scout, he'll take a few steps in the same direction, always slightly worried that she may move out of the range of his collective.

Helac projects an addendum to Kiana's observation, ...or an aberration. Some of those... do not age properly.
You... are right, Charivia. We may... as well go. Though, some of Anesti's own minions stated that... the changeling had no locket when they encountered him last. This may be... either something to keep us out of their hair, or... he thinks we know something and is trying to find it out without being direct, like the location of the bone room. Helac muses to the group.

It's the stereo effect of having two linked empty heads... :)
Helac maintains a slightly bowed head and unfocused gaze, possibly giving the illusion that he is distracted, lost in his own thoughts, while little could be further from the truth.

Quiet, bauble. We do not... know if any here are capable of... eavesdropping.

Sorry. I had an impromptu internet issue. Apparently some lines leading to my domicile went bad and it took a few days before a technician was available. :\
Helac nods, mostly to himself, when the shifter adopts the form of the female Yuan-ti he encountered a few days ago. I thought it would be something like that. Then a grimace flits across his scarred face as the figure simply steps through the energy obstruction. Indeed. It was... too much to hope for an obstruction worthy of the term.
Helac takes a careful step to the right and back, taking a less prominate role in the discussion. As usual, I leave... the discussion to you now, Nik'o. I think I'd probably just... place my lower metatarsals into my speech orifice and swallow up to my patella.

Helac stands up slowly behind the barrier, and does his best interpretation of a formal bow. He opens his mouth for a moment, then shuts it. Glancing at all the faces, he thinks for a moment.
"You are the one we released... the psion Herolyse" He says, turning to the female in the smaller group. I suppose Kiana will use this... as an example of failed kindness...
"One of your compatriots mentioned..." Helac's eyes drift half closed as he uses some of his discipline's mnemonic techniques "that you lived near... Tam Jeth and... you serve... Lord Anesti on this mission."
Turning toward the scaled one with the surrounding guard, he says, "Would I be correct in assuming... then that you are Lord Anesti... a vassal of Lady Prugshon? ...though you speak as if we have met before. If that is the... case, then I apologize for not being... able to place our previous meeting."
Helac's head quirks to the side, seemingly curious, "You'll have to forgive my patchwork memory. Though you say shadow beasts... which reminds me of a lady calling herself Deenya and a particular tower... I'm still not certain."

In a world where spellcasting is a thing, I'll try to wait until the monk can regain ki and the investigator can regain spells/extracts. Is it close to the eight hour mark for Nik'o and Kiana? If so, I'll wake them up. If not, I still might, because that feels like a lot of bodies.

Ok. I feel a little sheepish that I had forgotten one of the stipulations of the Expanded Knowledge feat.
PFSRD wrote: . . . Add to your powers known one additional power of any level up to one level lower than the highest-level power you can manifest. . . . So I won't qualify for temporal acceleration for two more levels. :\
I'll dig around and see if I can find something more suitable, but I suppose this does make Helac stuck with body purification for a little while.

Nik'o wrote: Can Helac help with the Con damage? Not immediately, but if necessary, when Helac regains power points, he can meditate and swap out his powers.
PFSRD wrote: . . . When a vitalist recovers his daily power points after resting, he may choose to rotate one or more powers he knows for new ones. These powers must always be chosen from the vitalist power list . . . . So Helac could get body purification as his third level power, which could do that, and he would be stuck with it all day. If we do that, I may switch out share pain for animal affinity... which actually makes me wonder. I had picked unwilling participant as a feat to try and steal healing from fighter type enemies. However, does anyone think that using expanded knowledge to pick up an extra power for expansion (enlarge person) or physical acceleration (haste) to buff allies be more beneficial?
Edit: Oh, I forgot that empathetic transfer (2nd level) can also be used to absorb ability damage. However, it doesn't cure it, but only lets Helac take it. There's also long term care (heal skill/8 hours) but I don't think that's going to happen. :)

When Helac and the others settle in, he takes a few moments to check each person, making sure they are well and truly fine, having not contracted any diseases within the tomb or poisons from upon random Yuan-ti or Khorvairan blades.

I suppose that means I shall go last... as I am nominally a magician... with similar hang ups and foibles. Helac adds.
Yeah, you don't want to see this guy without his 'beauty sleep.' He's ugly enough already. Eroh adds smugly to the rest of the group.
... Did ... Did you just initiate contact?! Helac projects incredulously.
I did. Just now it felt like I had an extra sense, which felt similar to when you let me talk to Revion the elf and Tierney the sick looking guy back in the caves.
Well... the fact that you have evolved slightly aside... my previous reasoning stands. If you ever act as a distraction for other party members during a critical moment, I will dip you in lead and throw you down a well... my bauble.
Yeah, yeah. I get it. Eroh projects in a huff.
Helac closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. Just to reiterate, I will take last shift. I think we should let Charivia sleep straight through. That spell seemed... to catch her harder than I usually see.
