Bah, They don't want to join some dusty Wizard's Guild, when there's exploring and treasure to be had! The ladies aren't impressed by your ability to conjugate a Thassilonian verb; they want to see the colour of your gold! Come to Thod's lodge in Landrush, and we'll see if you've got what it takes to be a Pathfinder.

And no more Osirions asking to search every room for their bit of fungus taking up table time. It was fungus wine, sir. There is a difference.
Thanks, that seems to cover everything.
I'll make sure to bring the old chronicles to prove the story so far. Am I right, that any items 'unlocked' in previous scenarios are superceded by the new 'max value' column, and that I would ignore those previously unlocked Season 0 items going forward? Just use the Season 3 'always available' list and the current 'max value' from PA? How does that bonus PA get reported onto this site?
Lab_Rat wrote: Having the PA be retroactive would definitely be a nice thank you to all the players who started in season 0. Their characters tend to have less PA for their lvl compared to someone who started in say season 2. I leave it up to the organizers to consider a possible mechanism for doing so. I do like the idea of a one time PA alteration on the first scenario played in season 3, just like a faction change. Paz wrote: This already happened. If you started in season 0 (as I did), then you got a PA boost when converting your 3.5 character to PFRPG for season 1. Is this PA boost still on the table? This PC started in Season 0, only played Season 0, to level 2, and was put to one side for another PC beginning Season 1. I've never converted him, but now my replacement PC has overtaken him, I thought it would be a good idea to do so, so I have a level 2 spare, in case I'm ever asked to complete a Tier 1-2 table. I'm not complaining if I missed the chance; I just want to know, if he is eligible for a one-time PA boost, how does one go about arranging that, and I want to be sure I've got the audit trail, to be able to prove he's been upgraded legally.
Lily Moonrose wrote: My two cents: I think the issue isn't so much that the wizard is too powerful -- I just found "Decline of Glory" to be a very easy module. None of the players in our party were particularly overwhelming and we were still left with an "Is that all there is?" feeling afterwards. +1 The nature of Organized Play is that the writers can't assume a balanced party, with all the traditional roles filled. In my case, this was my third mod, but the first mod in which we had any kind of healer. So, the writers have to rein themselves in a bit, compared to a traditional home campaign, in which you know the group has got their heads together to cover all their bases with characters optimised out the wazoo. For a later mod, with the same PC, we had to form a table with mixed levels, and the group took a vote on whether to play the higher or lower tier. The vote was cast and the group deferred to the lower tier to protect the newer PCs. In hindsight, I wish I had pushed to play up to the next tier, as I made it through without losing a single hp.
This was my first mod at PaizoCon UK, and we also went in without a cleric.
I was knocked into the negatives twice, one time dropping from minus 3 to minus 9 before being given a potion, despite having the trait that doubled my stabilisation chance. What a start! What I noticed, during the weekend, was that I saw a LOT more PCs built for self-sufficiency, since unlike a home game with their regular group, they couldn't count on always having a fellow Pathfinder with just the right class.
I also saw a LOT of PCs with a few ranks in Use Magic Device, a skill which I normally see left till later, when a Rogue can spam 8 or more ranks into it at once. And a few players buying items that would be useful for their next group, rather than for themselves personally. In my second game, our other new Rogue (Urisen) pulled out 'Riverbane's wand', which I don't believe he could even use, and lent it to the cash-strapped Wizard. I think the players need to adopt a new mindset, when they don't know what the next mission is, or who they'll be with.

On the whole a very enjoyable scenario in spite of some truly awful combat rolls which nearly resulted in my monk being beaten up by a commoner.... Hush there! Remember the story! We took so long, because we had to fight through a dozen summoned beasts, remember? <T'choh!>
Yes, thanks, Ben, for writing that. Good to meet you last week.
"Initiative...27?"
Some more highlights for me: Finally hitting something in 'Prince of Augustana' in the last encounter, with a critical sneak, and nailing it to the floor. After they'd been blinded, and I'd deafened them, I could flail about with abandon. One might even say I became quite dangerous! Managing to remove my silk underwear to make a flag, without stopping to remove my hose. Sleight of Hand for the win!
My favourite of the five played this weekend, partly due to the creepy atmosphere of the goings-on, partly due to the DM (Rob Silk) hamming it up for all he was worth, and partly for some amusing co-players. Apparently, clerics of Desna do not consider 'being a mime' to be a capital offence, or feel that 'skewering him, for creeping me out' to be a justifiable response.

The 'friendly fire' incident, when I blew up the sewers. The only damage done to the party all game. "Hey, they'd been bigging themselves up, how much higher level they were. How was I to know not everyone gets Evasion?" Nearly getting squashed by a giant cabbage, trying to complete someone else's mission, which I (player) knew had already been completed, but my PC did not, would have been a rather sad way to go. Me and the monk (Eltanin?) both nearly being punched unconscious by a small child. |
