*Still speaking to Aurora.* Of course, the offer extends to after this little encounter of ours, if you are so inclined. For now, though... Nods too her and calmly walks into the building and to the stairs... From Jamako's statement, he would assume the woman was alone and was currently surrounded by half the party. He would slide a vial of oil from his spell component pouch, though... if anyone tried to run down the stairs, maybe he could make them slip and fall and break their neck.

Looking at the curious woman, he would speak to her. Depends on our friend. I don't think I've ever heard him scream before. The owner of this establishment is a con artist and a thug, and we intend too take her down a few notches. If you make yourself useful, I'd be willing to pay you a small sum.

I'm so used to Rom playing a dwarven berserker that I just automatically assume I have one standing behind me at all friggin times. Takes some getting used too that there's nobody available to vaporise non-magical obstacles. Pointing at the lock, Harland casts an Acid Splash, weakening it before kicking in the door, praying that the alarm was of the silent variety.

Jamako, you'll need to hold back your fire; while burning down the building with them in it is easiest, we don't want an entire street full of people looking for someone to blame for their houses burning down. Jamako and myself shall wait outside, the rest of you should try drawing them out somehow... if you cannot do so, break a window. That will be our signal to come charging in.

I actually wrote something out while you posted that, then I had to delete it >:( I wouldn't wish to get in the way, but very well. Pulls a small pebble from his pocket and casts Light upon it, closing his hand too keep it from blinding them and passing it over too Scotty, then casting Detect Magic upon himself, ready to try and detect any hidden magical traps. He heads to the front door and examaines it for a moment, checking for magic, before testing the door gently too see if it's locked. It takes about a three foot of wood to stop a detect spell, so I'm also scanning for something nasty on the other side of the door.

Speaking almost in a stage whisper: Assuming, sir Gravelheart, that you know how to use that... Indicating the rifle he carries. I'm guessing that you like having enough space too use it. From our previous encounter, the target had a singular bodyguard. The previous plan was too engage them, with Scotty sneaking through the house to get behind them while Jamako indicating the kobold and our previous comrade assaulted the building in a standard siege pattern: Burn everything. Our new plan, too account for our comrade leaving, should be too lure them outside instead, and allow you too pick them off at your leisure while we hold them in one place. Or, with your shield, would you prefer to be in the thick of it while Jamako and I assail them with magic, while Scotty flanks her? Leaving the choice up to the dwarf; he knew where his strengths lay.

"Speaking of stars, Silver... Something I've never been sure of. Do Beyond...ers? Beyondists? Do you believe in the stars, the space between the stars, the ether that comprises both? What, precisely, is the core of your faith? You have already indicated that it is not a "god" in the traditional sense." Harland would never say it out loud, but it's a bit of a sore point for him, lol, wondering what in the hell Silver's god is if it isn't a "God".

Isn't entirely sure there even was such a thing as a surface dwarf, they all came out of smelly holes in the ground anyways... As for the dwarf being a duergar, Harland just frowns. This is, of course, exactly like all the other times he`s frowned, which is usually at everything.

I'm not surprised, frankly... it's unfortunate, though, that he was the only one who had any sense of direction. And unless I'm mistaken, that would be a smith at work. Shielding his sensitive drow eyes against the light, he would approach the forge and knock on the door, trying to get the smith's attention. He was curious as to what project would be important enough to work on through the night.

Water and salt get along like Beer and Dwarves: Famously. Winter needs to go down at this point, we can't just let an unresolved chapter go like this. Our new plan is such, and it is as simple as it is beautiful. We lure them outside, Bour shoots them in the head.
Male Half-Elf (Drow) Wizard 2 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 11 FF: 10 | Fort: +1 | Ref: +3 | Will: +3 | Init: +0 | Perc: +2 |
Bah, can't burn it down, it'd take out the city block. Our main problems are the thug and the wand... I'm guessing if we can get in close, we could pin Winter down and force her to surrender. We could cause a distraction outside, drawing the guard off, and let Scotty and Jamako handle him. I'm fairly confident Silver and I can pin her down solo, but having a meat-shield would be nicer.

We captured Hammerfist after the distillery closed... are shops even open still? And is Drovics weapon masterwork? If so, it and Magic Weapon don't stack... and even then, Magic Weapon isn't really worth it. Get Silver to use a scroll of Bless or Prayer.

I... I could have sworn to you the woman was a drow. My mental image, the entire time, was of a drow. Looking back, though... a pale woman? My mind is going on me. I'm pretty sure we've been talking about this con artist woman the entire time.

Already feels like this whole affair has gone on far too long anyways, this was supposed to be a quick knee-break and go home deal... he had research to do dammit! Still, he couldn't deny that there was no small amount of appeal to be found in killing drow, any drow, and this one was a con artist, someone who deliberately takes advantage of the law while simultaneously scoffing at it. Such a person was a greater threat to order than any normal rule breaker. "... Assuming we commit too this, I propose we attack as soon as possible. She must at least be planning or have planned defensive strategies. The more time we give her to enact those strategies, the greater our disadvantage. I propose a plan, thusly: Scotty will sneak in through the back or a rear window and take our foes from behind after we have distracted the target. You, Drovic and you, Jamako, will enter through the front door. Jamako will fill the shop with enough fire, followed by Drovic himself. Once Drovic has Charged, you, Scotty, will begin your assault. Silver and I shall stay back and provide assistance as necessary. I only have three more spells prepared this day, none of which are of reasonable combat value unless the target tries to escape, and even then only if she comes my way. Dips his head in apology. I can grease an area to make it slippery, Enlarge one individual, spray acid and, as a last resort, shield myself from blows. I can cast Enlarge on Drovic, granting him greater strength. If she runs my way, I will grease the area in an attempt too slow her. I can do naught much else. Deliberately fails to mention that he can cast just about any spell he's studied through his staff... intends too keep that trick up his sleeve in case Drovic or Scotty decide they havn't killed enough people in a given day.

It works out either way, we would have brought her the money first and told her of the plan too sell it all. Then she would have flipped her shit about not working or waiting for it, then she would want the brewery. So it all leads up too this anyways.

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Harland frowns, awaiting his companions decision... how could a single recipe be worth so much? Had he seriously undervalued the apparent deliciousness of this brew? Not that he would ever try it, mind, but when a woman who, apparently, is out for nothing but money agrees with a dwarf who's all about making brew, it's time to get curious. Harland is ready too back you guys up in case she starts lobbing fireballs or what have you. :)

Whether or not the rest of the party decide to disembowel Hammerfist, Harland would be true to his plan: Sell the building and everything in it, preferably with Jamako's help too get the best possible deal. If the grand total came out to more than 3000, 3000 would go to the client, the rest would be kept and split by the party, then we keep our additional 15% of the cut.

Scowls at Scotty... another greedy oathbreaker, potentially? We'll see... He would then look to the dwarf. Sir Hammerfist... my plan is not cruel. It is not mean. It is what you -should- have done when you noticed the business was going belly up. You -should- have gone to your cousin rather than speak to a loan shark. You -should- have begun selling everything rather than try and absorb the losses on your own, especially when you knew the local market well enough to tell me what the customers want. You -should not- have relied on a recipe you could not remember as your only real income of business. And now you are honestly suggesting we go and rob your cousin? You would break that family bond Dwarves are renowned for? Where is your honor as a dwarf? As a dwarf of the Hammerfist clan? Dwarven:
A dwarf who betrays his family, has no family. It is too late too save your business. As of now, it is gone. But do not tell me this business is all you've got. You've still got more family than I ever had. If he will not take you in, see me at the Peddlers Pint. Too everyone else: Why not take the easiest of all paths? I will handle the deconstruction of the business. The rest of you can bring the money to the client, with the promise that the rest will be handed in before the weeks end. Sir Hammerfists cousin stands in surety, on the word of sir Hammerfist. Sir Hammerfist will go to his cousin... unharmed, we do not want a potentially powerful adversary as a personal enemy... and will relay all of this to him. Are we agreed?

A rictus of a smile passes onto Harlands' face. You expect us to believe that your friend is both wealthy and owes you a ton of favors, yet couldn't be bothered to give you a loan. And I suppose this friend also considers you a likewise friend... very well. Sits himself in the chair once more, sliding all the money into the bag. Convince me.

So now everyone is hunting for drugs. Wonderful. Harland would count out the coins, making sure it was all there. Do not be so sure, Hammerfist. It's not like the very property itself is worthless, bound to the very magical nature of a specifically brewed pint of ale. We'll sell the stills as scrap iron, and the building and property separate. What ale you have brewed or brewing will be sold. What cannot be sold within three days will be dumped, probably into the Pit so as not too litter. If the amount still does not add up to the remaining 1200, I will be surprised indeed.

Just looks at the dwarf a period longer, snarling in disgust, looking to Drovic and Scotty. Jam and I will check. Please do not harm him in the mean time. And you... Looking back to the dwarf. That was the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. Have you no self-respect? People these days... Again, please do not harm him in case it's not enough. We'll need his signature in order to sell his business, just in case. Heads downstairs, presumably where the dwarf keeps his ale casks, preferably taking Jamako with him, too check the casks. And that's how I intend to make alot of money in a short period of time very easily.

Grabbing a chair and moving it over to the bed, he would sit himself down and peer at the dwarf, tilting his head some. Whether the dwarf agreed to keep silent or not, he would speak. Sir Hammerfist, my ally here, he doesn't like too kill things very much. In fact, I would almost say he hates it. You see, when someone dies, it takes a great deal more effort to make them suffer. So, I assure you, he, and the rest of us, will go to extensive lengths too ensure you take a very, very long time too suffer. With that being said, we are prepared to offer you a deal. Tell us how we can get the gold you borrowed, and we will let you go, no further harm to your being. For every lie you tell us, we will have to take something that belongs to you. Like a thumb. Maybe an ear. If we get too frustrated, we might even take an eye. Intimidate: Aid Another: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Giving Drovic a +2 to his roll, if I may

Depending on how many people are about, Harland would go with that plan... it seems fairly sound. Speaking of, in Charlemagne's game, it was repeatedly stated that Venutre town was lawless. What's this city like?

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Clearly, he enjoys imbibing from his stock. If we follow him too his home, we might find an ideal location for "interrogation." Unless, of course, he's just going to go for more drink. Sets off after the dwarf, keeping about fifty feet behind, staff clacking lightly on the ground next to him.

Don't be crude, at least pretend you care about leaving too much evidence. That way, if it ever starts too matter, you'll have a great deal of practice. If he doesn't tell us where too get the money, we'll water board him with his own ale. Scowls at the still. Assuming they are more dangerous than common thugs, we should go at this tactically. Shall we wait until nightfall, for when they go home, or rush in and get as many as we can right now? If right now, I can try to put anywhere between one or all of them asleep. If later, we should strategize more carefully.

By now, if they had known Harland for at least a week, they would know that his basic state of being was "Grumpy". He would start at Scotty's sudden appearance, scowling at the rogue. If we didn't need Ser Hammerfist alive, I would say block off all exits then burn the place to the ground. Hopefully, it can still come to that. Filthy oathbreaker deserves the most painful, lonely death we can concoct. Did you happen to notice whether they had weapons close by?
