Harden smirks at the questions and comments on the "petticoat district." "Count me in. If I have to arrest drug-crazed wacko's at least there might be some decent company," he laughs. He looks over to Yarden and Somos, "Sounds like you had some, uh, fun as well." He smiles at Yarden's bloodthirsty grin, though he is a bit unnerved by it.

"Heh, ya, you're right. The guy knew my dad, so I got sent here. And, I wasn't stealing outright, so much as just using his alchemist's kit without his permission," Harden sighs, "Which is technically stealing." That was on the way back, sorry for the delay. Hearing what Nico Timmis' said Harden speaks up, "Just hit the streets? Wow, we gotta stop this. I mean, if it gets much more widespread, there's gonna be serious issues." He motions to the users, "They just didn't care. I mean, nothing affected them til you put them down."

Harden's cheeks redden involuntarily at the cleric's query. "I, well, I liked to think of myself as an urban explorer. I explored the city, dabbled in the alchemical arts. I made many friends, but normally I, uh, worked, alone," Harden glances over at the cleric as he speaks. "My final, erm, exploration led me to a place that was owned by another. A comedy of errors insued and I ended up with you all. Ah well, just a service to our city and then back to our lives right?" Harden hopes that ends the cleric's questions. He isn't sure why, but he's a bit embarrassed about his prior activities. Or maybe its just that he was caught.

Harden gives Timmis a wry smile, "Yeah, I suppose that works too. Must be a bit obvious I'm used to working by myself." He grabs a firm hold of the prisoner's manacled arm, not trusting him even in his weakened state.

Harden looks around the group and says, "Unless one of you can levitate this guy, I guess I'll carry him." He positions the body to throw it up over his shoulder. Harden would take 20 on a strength check if needed. He has 12 strength. Harden shows a bit of chauvanism, but he also is trying to be nice. He doesn't really think that either Savrial or Timmis could carry the body well, and while Liandra most likely could, he is trying to be polite. Spoiler: It'll be interesting to see how Liandra interprets Harden's actions and words.

Looking around at the slightly dispersed crowd, and down at the two perps they had in hand Harden asks, "Well, should we drag them back and see what the el-tee wants done with them? Then they're at least off the street." He prods one with his club, "And if they're locked up there, they aren't causing a scene out here. Whatever they are on, its some nasty stuff. Hope this isn't just the start of something..." He looks at the other's to see what they think.
Male Human Warlock 3
Harden looks around. Seeing that the crowd has backed off as much as it will in this district he drops down on a knee next to Savrial. "Not magical huh?" He wracks his brain thinking of any drugs he might have heard of that could have caused this. Knowledge(local)=16 (1d20 +1) (15+1=16) "Well, whatever it is, I do think we need to get them someplace to sleep it off," he pauses, "Assuming its something that gets slept off." Spoiler: lol @ Somos. Whatever works! I'm not 12 feet tall!

Harden steps up next to Liandra, mentally making a note to never piss the elf off. Holding his club in his right hand, he raises his left as if to cast a spell shouting, "Ya'll heard the lady, get on to your homes or whatever business you have. This is over!" He waggles his finger as if he is starting to cast a spell. Which, being a warlock, he isn't, but he hopes they don't realize that.

The noise of the racket up ahead grab's Harden's attention. Seeing the fight, he drops his arm away from Savrial and draws his club unobtrusively, letting it hang in hand by his side. He stops quickly to help up Timmis. "Careful," he mutters to the cleric, "There are more of them than us. Wouldn't do to start a riot on our first day." He shoots a whithering glare at person who tripped Timmis. "You might want to not interfere with the law, my man," Harden growls. Intimidate = 23 (1d20+8) (15+8=23) He hears Liandra shout and gets ready to back up the elf after Timmis is back on his feet.

Harden invokes leaps & bounds upon himself, giving himself more agility. (+6 on acrobatics checks) Putting his around around Savrial's shoulder's he gives her a squeeze, "Can't be too careful. I've heard about the Beggar's Guild. Haven't ever been down here, but seems you can make a good living at it if you can handle the life." He waves off the "blind" begger. "Not today sir."
Male Human Warlock 3
Unfazed by Nico's nonreaction Harden moves over to join Savrial, Timmis and Liandra. Casting a sceptical eye to the elderly cleric he quickly put on a smile and put his hand on Savrial's shoulder, giving it a gentle comradely shake. He doesn't notice her brief tears, and assumes she is a merely nervous about the task at hand. "Don't worry Savers," Harden said, "We'll all make a good team." Looking at Liandra he gives his first hint of seriousness, "Do you know much about Blind Man's Alley? I must admit that I, uh, stayed near the wealthier parts of town most nights."
Male Human Warlock 3
Seeing nothing of terrible interest with the bridge at this time Thurgar walks as casually as an armored dwarf can to stand near Kumal and Garyn. He doesn't believe the humans to be a threat, but people have been known to do dumb things for less reason. As he walks he begins to whistle a dwarven bar ditty content to let others do the talking.
Male Human Warlock 3
"I have a variety of specialties," Harden says with a grin, "Some of which will help with my duties on the watch." He bends his arm at the elbow, raising his hand up in front of his face. "While most of my abilities are more towards blasting things, or burning them alchemically, my...heritage does allow my more agility than I would otherwise have. And, I've found that I am good at disguising myself so that people don't realize who I am." He smiles wryly as Yarden tells her tale, noting the similar reason's for their current employment. He also doesn't comment as the massive minotaur speaks. While he finds Somos a bit simple and amusing, he is also over 12 feet tall, and Harden, while brash, is not stupid. Ah, gotta love auto-censor. Stupid people and their stupid using words in bad ways. Editted a word to bends

Savrial wrote: Savrial... "A lovely name for a lovely lady" Harden says attempting to walk the fine line between being dashing and laying it on too thick. As Yarden speaks her name he turns to her, initally thinking she was talking to him. Harden and Yarden, this could be interesting Harden bites his tongue from commenting on what Yarden says. Not because he's intimidated, no, just...because he doesn't want to start things off on the wrong foot.

Harden grins widely at the half-elf woman. He eyes her up and down, not letting her beauty fool him as she looked plenty deadly. "I suppose I should get some of those blunted bolts as well," reaching under his coat he pulls out 15 bolts and steps over to the mongrelfolk trading for the blunted bolts. "Least with these we can't get shot in the back by our comrades," he glances at Liandra with a grin, "Though I'm sure that'd never happen anyway."

Harden surveys the other Watchmen around him, though to his surprise many of them are women. Hmm, this might not be so bad after all he says looking about with an appraising eye. He coughs as Timmis speaks up attempting to cover up a laugh. God's I hope this old man doesn't get us killed Smiling as he watches Yarden sign in he does a small take as she flashes her fangs. Interesting... He steps forward, "Harden Sull. Looking forward to working with most of you," he says as he glances at the ladies. Checking his gear he walks over to the thri-kreen to temporarily sign his life away. He slips his badge into a pocket of his shirt and nestles the manacles in his backpack and stands back to watch the rest check in.
Cleric. I mean, I have all the power in the party. Someone mentioned it earlier, but really, do you want the cleric mad at you? I mean, sure, he could heal you while you were conscious...but you made him made at dinner last night so he's gonna whack this kobold and THEN stabilize you. If you're lucky he'll heal you awake again... (And if you are using the Book of Experimental Might healing rules...you don't even have to heal them, they just touch you and its all good! It leads to even more jokes then the standard "I want the cleric to touch me" does.... )
Heh, I described the day of Mourning to my PCs as a sort of magic nuclear bomb. So, my idea for it is, somehow, Cyre was the target of a magic weapon of unheard of magnitude. But who did it and why? Was it one of the other nations? A dragonmarked house? Vol? The daelkyr? In my game its the daelkyr through their crazed mindflayer minions. Spoiler: Its all tied together in my head. Vol is the obvious bad guy as she is attempting to attain complete god-hood. The daelkyr merely created/are using the opportunity to break free and run rampant all over again. So, plots within plots within plots. Oh, and you know the Demon trapped in the Silver Flame? Yeah, its the Voice of the Flame now and it wants out....

I understand what you're saying, but more forced than all Paladins being lawful good? (excepting paladins of tyranny i suppose) I mean, lots of stuff in D&D/Pathfinder/whatever is more a cool idea that one has to find a way to fit into the story. I actually like that. My warlock is an illegitimate son and the dad, who nobody knows (excepting the mom obviously, but she didn't know him well) was the one "carrying" the power. So, that's how he got his power. And yeah, it sorta turned him into an outcast....
Eberron has so much in it there are a million ways you can go. Having the Black Dragon pulling strings is a good start (i'm having the daelkyr start to actually attempt to break free in my campaign). Don't forget in Eberron that the wounds of the Last War are very fresh. Big political themes can still happen, even in the more jungles of Qbarra. Or the Day of Mourning released tons of magic-warped creatures upon the earth, some have escaped the Mournland. Or the the party runs afoul of the Silver Flame (or a cult) and is persued by religous zealots and they don't even know why. Or the various Dragonmarked Houses are attempting to manipulate the party to aid them in some way. Or the Lord of the Blades has decided that it is time to rise up and crush the meatlings who created and enslaved them. There is just so much going on you can just weave in bits and pieces here and there to give you players a taste of what Eberron has to offer, even if it doesn't pertain to your central story.
Not having read all the posts, but I did notice the initial setting was going to be Ptolus. IIRC (which is doubtful) there is a whole group of paladin's dedicated to "rehabiliting" evil creatures. There are lots of ways you can have a LG pally and a CE guy in a group and make it work. Especially when a setting gives you such a big aid to doing so. Now, whether the player wants to make it work is another situation all together. If he just wants to kill you in your sleep, well, you have many problems.

Heh. Oh, this is gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out. Harden is gonna have to go get a truncheon though. Using his sickle all the time might get a bit messy....hmmm. One also has to remember, that is some of the smaller, shinier, more valuable pieces of gear aren't still in the perp's pocket when he gets to jail, well, it shortens the time to getting paid. Not that Harden would be thinking of ways to enrich himself, but he really wants that alchemist's kit......

Word up. Did I mention that Harden speaks like a mid 90s white rap-metal lead singer? No?
Ok then....awkward. Guess he doesn't. *awkward silence* Ahh, spoiler hide. Much better.
*cough* Harden Sull reporting for duty. *shrugs and shifts weight* All this is mine. *Pats backpack*
Undead kobolds. From the Paizo module. A pain to kill for the level.
Mindflayers. Especially using the crazy one's of Thoon. Yeah, I like making my players go "what the heck is THAT?"
Reviews have helped me a number of times. Certain products I just want to have no matter what someone else thinks. (Pretty much any Monte Cook product for example.) However, I tend to read a number of the reviews on other products as I don't have a ton of money to spend on gaming products and I have enough books that sit on the shelf because I bought them early on. I tend to take the most positive review and the most negative review and see how they balance each other. If a product has only positive reviews, well, that makes it easier. Or only negative, that makes it REALLY easy. So yes, I like reviews, though, I tend to forget to put my 2 cents in after I buy something.
Ahh, ok. I get it now. I missed that you could take HP over skill points. Well, after reading the little box again, I remembered that I had read it and forgot it. I took the skill points. After mostly playing clerics, I actually will have some skills beyond concentrating! er...spellcrafting...whatever it is now. edit: removed smilies and smacked myself.
Ok, currently feeling like an idiot. I see that "Honest" Finreal is a warlock. He has 28 HP. I'm a warlock, I have 21HP. Obviously I am shorting myself 7HP. Where did I miss this? I think I've read the rules (though I am notorious for somehow skipping the one line I needed). Do we get double HP for level 1? So, level 1 i'd have 14, 2 - 21, 3 - 28? Its not a huge deal, but I do like to know when I'm missing something I should be easily seeing. :) |
