"We'll be going after more of those rats in the morning after we get supplies and you're healed. Let's get that thing wrapped up and take him with us to the Temple of St Cuthbert. We'll tell Jenya what we've discovered and she can tell the watch and whomever else once we're gone. Ghelve, I don't know if you'll get into trouble for your part in this even though you were coerced. I'll leave that up to Jenya, Hight Priestess of St Cuthbert." While talking, Hagin inspects Yvette's wounds to make sure they are healed correctly. Once he is confident, Hagin will use his magic to bring her back to full.
Hagin concentrates on healing Yvette "Luminous Pelor, I pray that it is not time for the light of life to be diminished."
"We should also gather some supplies like rope and other climbing gear. The morning would be best."
"Pardon me, but I think we should start at the children. It seems that four orphans are the latest victims of whomever is kidnapping cauldron's citizens. High Priestess Jenya has used her divine contacts to direct us to research the locks. Her divinations mentioned you as well. That is why we are here. We understand the locks of the orphanage are of exceptional quality. What can you tell us?"
Hagin has no need for money as everything he wants is provided for by his family but, he should soon be leaving his family's home and begin to make his own way. the offered money would go a long way towards allowing him to maintain his accustomed lifestyle. Hagin quietly accepts the mission and is willing to accept the payment as well.
"The woman was wrong Rufus. You are alive because the gods deemed it so. We had all just decided to look into the disappearances of the people before the quake caused us to come outside in time to aid you. That is why you were hampered from defending yourself properly." Because everyone knows that priests of St Cuthbert the Cudgel all are experts with their cudgels.
Hagin moves to check on the victim. "Don't worry. We're here to help. If you let me, I can tend to your wounds, then we can escort you home." Hagin intones a simple prayer.
"Interestingly enough, Trane, my plan is very similar to yours. The big difference is that I have a more specific plan of action for the first part." Hagin waits for Barek and Crispin to return to finish his thought. He continues, "We ask the gods." he says as his big reveal. "Jenya, the high priest of St. Cuthbert, has already sought divine guidance, but doesn't have the manpower to make good use of it. We can also go to Kristof at my temple. He'd probaly be willing to do the same thing. Then using the information we get, we complete parts two and three of the plan."
Hagin had only planned to recruit Barek and Yvette, but the unexpected arrival of the others as nothing less than divine intervention. He says a silent prayer of thanks. Pelor rewards an industrious spirit"No." He says simply. "But I have a plan... of sorts. The thing is I could use some help. I came hoping to find some. Are you interested?", he says including all of them in the question.
Hagin shakes off some of the rain as he enters he Coy Nixie. If Barak keeps to his regular, he'll be here in the company of a lady. There he is, with Yvette. Hagin signals for a round of drinks as he goes over to them. "I have some interesting news." He says as he sits down. "It seems my inquiries into the kidnappings have drawn some attention. I received this this morning." He pulls out a letter and hands it to Barek.
Hagin knew what it was like to have people wanting him to shut up. In his youth- Youth? It had only been a couple of years unless one counts the incident with the baker's daughter and that was clearly Barek's doing not his- his mouth was a constant source of trouble for him. But this was different. This was not about his honor or his pride. People's lives were at stake. His inquiries were not from some child butting his nose in, but from a priest of Pelor looking to do good deeds. No matter what, he was going to find out who is behind the kidnappings and make them pay. It would do Cauldron some good to know that the blood of Surabar was still out there keeping them safe. Hagin took another look at the letter. Of course Surabar did have some help. Perhaps it was time for him to get some help too. He knew just the people. It would cost him a round of drinks or two, but they were just crazy and loyal enough to do it. He headed out into the rain...
Character Relations:
Yvette: As stated previously, Yvette and Hagin's friendship started when his mouth got him into trouble his but couldn't get him out of. For the first time, he realized that someone else could get hurt due to his words or actions. That realization began to temper his arrogance a bit. A process that was completed by the Church of Pelor. Barek: Barek's rebellious spirit and Hagin's arrogance made them friend/enemies during their youth. It's only now that they have switched lives that they have truly began to bond. Trane: Much like with Barek, Hagin and Trane weren't friends until their lives switched. Hagin made his family proud and Trane disappointed his. They've bonded over discussions about family, religion, and secret feelings for Yvette. Crispin: Hagin knows him through association with Yvette. He can sense the fellow is troubled and wants to help him. Jennis: Hagin has no strong ties to Jennis. Manx: Hagin and Manx are known to socialze with Trane and Barak. Hagin stays at his family's house.
Manx, Hagin, Barack, and Trane run in the same social circles with Yvette being the object of all of their affections. Sounds like the premise of a sitcom. Trane wrote: Hagin and Loften's family do go way back, but Trane is somewhat distant as his family is expected to be an important part of the religious hierarchy. He has obviously missed that boat. Obviously Hagin and Loften share the common fact that they disappointed their family at first. I like this. We were more acquaintances than friends until you disappointed your family and I made mine proud of me. Trane wrote: @Wareagle: Can monks take improved natural attack for a bump in unarmed combat damage (typically a monster feat)? This is the first sentence of that feat. Choose one of the creature's natural attack forms (not an unarmed strike). Wareagle may rule otherwise, but that is what it reads.
Yvette's avatar is going to play havoc with me. That's the same one I use for my main avatar. Time Zone: Eastern
Quote:
For ease of perusal, here's Hagin's story. For most in Cauldron the tales of Surabar Spellmason are only inspirational stories of the city’s heroic founder. For Hagin they are a historic account of his family’s greatness. To him they are tangible proof that he too is destined for great things. When he was a youth, this led him to an arrogance that would often get him into trouble.
Hagin is a handsome 20 year old with long black hair and dark eyes. He likes to wear simple but well made clothes and robes.
He's right. If you make an attack roll, you can crit with it. Spells have a x2 crit modifier. Hagin doesn't understand what Ember says, but assumes she thanks him. He responds with a smile and begins to chant again, channeling more healing energy into his friend. Cure Light Wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
