Saying 'Challenge Accepted' and trying to make a worthy Drizzt expy, here is his character sheet. I know the rules for playing drow are in the Advanced Race Guide; awaiting word on what will and won't work.
For roleplaying purposes, I am a bit puzzled; as far as I can gather, is the idea to play kids who have found themselves in the bodies and places of their characters and are trying to play out that role?
m drow Ranger 1
I'm going to have to bow out of the campaign, I've become busy with DMing too many in RL and some other school-related stuff. Feel free to resolve this in-game however you wish, and happy gaming.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr gives the dancing orb of light a slightly concerned look apparently sharing Sunset's opinion on her concentration skills, before attempting to descend the ladder, appearing supremely unconcerned about the killer spiders.
m drow Ranger 1
"Just bribe him," Gyldyr mutters.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr tries to whisper "how much gold do we have?" to the others without the thing hearing.
Could try bribing it?
m drow Ranger 1
I haven't had the chance to get back online until now.
m drow Ranger 1
Tomorrow, bright and early.
A smile, in no way a reassuring expression, twists across the necromancer's features. Holding up a hand for the others to remain quiet, he whispers "I think he thinks we're part of the occupying army" to the party.
Leaning down to the speaker's height, he hisses:
intimidate check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
m drow Ranger 1
listen 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Going to be gone for spring break, likely with no internet access.
m drow Ranger 1
I speak Goblin.
Gyldyr moves closer to the door to listen, gesturing for everyone else to pause (or stay paused).
m drow Ranger 1
It was ridiculously fun (we won the Gracious Professionalism Award, sadly didn't get past finals eliminations and being ranked 19 out of sixty-some do to our falling-over alliance partner) and I found that our team is apparently buddies with the pretty cool team from Mexico, but...
What?
m drow Ranger 1
Will be gone for three days due to robotics event, sorry.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr just waits at the back of the party.
m drow Ranger 1
One of the uninjured norkers.
m drow Ranger 1
m drow Ranger 1
Magic Missile, why not. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
m drow Ranger 1
Sorry. Build season for robotics, Spanish class, fencing, and a (new) relationship. I'll try to keep up with the game.
init 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr abruptly sits down on the ground and slips halfway to Reverie, only paying enough attention to the outside world to leave with the party when they're ready.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr remains silent, completely submerged in his spellcasting. He wouldn't have asked their one question in any case.
m drow Ranger 1
concentration 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 and focus- I've no idea what my modifier would be 1d100 ⇒ 78
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr quickly outlines his plan for anchoring the dwarf's spirit, unconcerned if the non-spellcasters can't understand him.
m drow Ranger 1
"Maybe not pursue us, but I doubt he's going to move on. If we hurry, Miss Tahn, we should be able to contact him. I doubt he'd trust me, if I'm the one to part the veil, so to speak, whatever my intentions." He grins crookedly. "Time is of the essence."
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr holds his hand up in the universal signal for pause. "I can't help but notice... everyone who follows disciples beyond the mundane, I'll need your help for a circle, as I doubt anyone wants Koridur's revenant after us."
m drow Ranger 1
"If we can find a secluded room," Gyldyr says cautiously, trying to guess at dwarven funerary traditions but not coming up with anything, "wouldn't it be safer to build a pyre?"
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr stares after Sunset for a moment, as nonplussed as ever, before moving to help get the party on their way. "But surely nobody blames Miss Tahn..." he mutters to himself.
m drow Ranger 1
He blinks, holding very still. "Yes."
m drow Ranger 1
Sorry, busy holidays. Knowledge check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Gyldyr gets up, unbothered by the blood on his knees (and the army). He's far more concerned by his companions' irrational behavior. He's staring at Desidera with a look not unlike someone who's found a fascinating insect in their soup. "Elanesadriel, think of tactics, please," he says distractedly. Then he focuses his attention on Desidera. If she snaps at him he's fairly sure he won't be able to hold a confrontation, but for now he's more bemused than anything. "Miss Tahn, he's gone. If we continue on our odds will likely improve."
m drow Ranger 1
Before taking off after Gloisil, Gyldyr kneels carefully next to the dwarf and tries to tell if trying to save him would still be worth their healer's time.
heal? 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 As a necromancer, would I be able to tell through magic how far gone he is?
m drow Ranger 1
"Might as well." He'll share what he knows if anyone asks the relevant questions.
m drow Ranger 1
Would I have any clue which direction would be best?
m drow Ranger 1
m drow Ranger 1
"I don't have anything ideal in the way of spells for this," Gyldyr says almost regretfully, preparing to cast Chill Touch on the first charging goblin that gets close enough.
initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
m drow Ranger 1
If we get the chance, Gyldyr thinks wryly.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr inspects the wound on his shoulder. "Lady Tarn, I'll leave it up to your judgement wether or not this warrants healing." He stands on the side of the group farthest away from the sunlight, taking great care not to look directly at it.
m drow Ranger 1
Sorry.
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 2) = 17
m drow Ranger 1
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr casts Scorching Ray at the most intimidating-looking goblin within reach.
m drow Ranger 1
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr scowls. "As long as I can keep from being hit by the vermin, I'll be fine.
m drow Ranger 1
I'm back. The trip was... exceedingly boring.
m drow Ranger 1
Currently traveling, will post when I can.
m drow Ranger 1
initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Gyldyr immediately retreats to the back of the group, beginning to cast magic missile at the goblins. Casting prevents him from wondering what the knight thought he was doing by calling all the goblins' attention to him.
When we have a lull in the action, or even before now, Gyldyr will/has shared his theories about their location; that means the rest of the party can look at the last spoiler.
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr is anyway hopelessly lost and will just be following everyone else.
m drow Ranger 1
"Or make a meal of orcs, depending on the spider."
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr follows at the back of the group, glad to get away from the noise which has given him a huge headache.
m drow Ranger 1
"Is there another route?"
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr also tries to see what's in the air shaft.
perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr just shrugs and takes a step back, leaving the decision up to the rest of the group.
m drow Ranger 1
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr retrieves the charcoal and writes 'Still could- risk could be worth it. Unaware of other route downwards.'
m drow Ranger 1
Gyldyr just looks at Mox with a mixture of amusement and disgust.
As no one can hear him, if it would work, he takes out some charcoal and scrawls on the walls 'something in the air shafts- eats/lures? goblins' (in Common) and then gets someone with a light source to come over and read it.
