Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Works for me. Give me the address and a list of any desired equipment, and I'll meet ya back there, Joey replies.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Let's decide on a place and time to meet-up, 8 hours or less, and we'll get on the road to the cabin. If anyone wants to go outdoorsman duds n' gear shopping with me, you're welcome. If you want any guns, leave an order with me, and I'll see what I can do, but I won't be able to bring you with me to meet my source. It would not work out for any of us."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey is going to make a few purchases before they head to the cabin:

Steel-toed hiking boots.
Sturdy outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather.
A hunting/survival knife.
A 12-gauge shotgun (if possible).
A box of ammo (appropriate to whatever is in season).

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

”Well, I for one ain’t going out in the woods in a suit. If something goes wrong, I want to be wearing something I can survive in for a few days. I’m going to get me a good pair of sturdy boots, some thick socks, and sturdy duds.”

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"In that case, I'd suggest boots and Big Bill's. We should look like we're there to hunt or fish," Joey suggest. "Though it wouldn't hurt to have a vest on under the jacket."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Nice movie reference!

Fortunately (or unfortunately), none of us is named Ash.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Kananaskis..." Joey says. "That might be worth checking out. I mean, a remote cabin in the woods seems to be a more sensible place to keep secret things than an apartment in the city."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Accounting Check: 1d100 ⇒ 61

Joey removes his coat, loosens his tie, and rolls up his sleeves. He takes a seat and begins trying to make sense of the files.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

At least we're not staring at that little robot anymore!

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Should we head on back to the office, and start going through the papers, or should we hang around a bit and see who shows up next?" Joey offers.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey smiles and waves goodbye to then ice old lady, closes the door and moves quickly. ”We need to hurry up. I’m not a hundred percent sure she bought it. She might be calling the cops as we speak.”

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

”We’re family, at least what’s left of it. The cops haven’t told us anything, although it seems like there was no foul play. Anyway, we’re just trying to get his affairs in order. So, you said old Clyde was acting odd in the last few months? Like what? Unfortunately, none of us were in regular contact with him. We were only just recently notified of his passing, and like I said, the police didn’t really tell us anything.” Joey’s tone is conversational, with a touch of everyday friendliness toward the woman, and a bit of frustration when mentioning the police.

Persuasion, 60%: 1d100 ⇒ 6

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

I have 60% Persuasion

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Keep working. I'll see if I can allay her suspicions," Joey says, removing his jacket and shoulder rig, removing his tie, unbuttoning the collar of his shirt, and rolling up his sleeves. He sets the jacket flat on the dining room table, with his gun and holster just underneath where the sleeves stack.

"Stay out of sight of the door, but don't be silent, talk about whatever, but make sure you are heard packing and moving things.

He walks to the door and opens it. He looks down at the older woman, and says, "Oh, hello there, m'am. Can I help you?"

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"The Comptroller said to clean the site of the information. She never said anything about having to leave it as we found it. Let's stop looking through the files for the moment and search for anything hidden. We can always grab the files and throw them in the back of the car, and go through them back at headquarters."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Even if we have no background in Accounting? If so...

Accounting Roll: 1d100 ⇒ 98

Ha! Joey has no effin' clue how the files are organized.

Joey sighs in frustration as he skims the contents of each folder.

"Couldn't he've done us a favor'n alphabetized his files?" he mutters in frustration.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Let's start with the obvious," Joey says, going over to the file cabinet and opening the top drawer.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey follows Leona into the apartment, and immediately begins assessing the layout.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Once the group has met-up outside the apartment door, Joey put the key in the lock and unlocks the door.

"Anyone want to do the honors, or shall I go in first?" he asks.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Once inside the building, Joey takes on a natural, casual posture, as if he lives there. Seeing no elevator, he makes his way up the stairs to the third floor.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"We're good, Joey whispers. "Let's head inside.

He opens the front door and enters the building.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

HUMINT Roll < or =50% successful: 1d100 ⇒ 24

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey takes a moment to assess the passersby for any evidence of being something other than what they seem.

Spotters? Tails? Hitters? he wonders to himself, as he watches each of them out of the corner of his eye.

Do I make a roll for HUMINT, or some other skill?

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Hand me the apartment key," Joey says. "Some places use the same key for the mailbox and apartment door. Even if it isn't, I can have the key on me, and give the appearance of putting a key in the mailbox lock while I'm picking it."

He then turns to Leona and says, "Would you mind completing the illusion, standing nearby, obscuring me from the street, while looking bored waiting for me to check the mail? You can also give me the heads-up if someone seems suspicious."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"I'm pretty good with locks, especially if I have tools for that purpose with me. Alas..." Joey says, pantomiming turning-out empty pockets. "I do have a pocket knife, though, so I might be able to do something with that, or if anyone can find a small paperclip or similar sized piece of wire lying around."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Let's find a spot and see what's what," Joey suggests.

(GM: Is there anything that clearly indicates if the building has any sort of security door with a keypad or outside lock?)

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey's skillset includes being a 'wheelman' for the mob (high driving skill), thus the reason for the post.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"You can drive," Joey says with a nod, "but if we're ever in a situation where we're either needing to get away fast or chase someone down at high-speed, please hand the keys to me."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

(The Organization's got a budget, otherwise it would've been a ten-year old Crown Vic Wagon with rear-facing back seats!)

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey rises from his chair as Mrs. Lee stands.

"Yes, m'am," he replies.

It's a mission, but also a test. Don't f+~@ up, or you will be disappeared. Got it. It looks like I was right, I've joined another Mob.

He presents a neutral expression as he checks his credentials one more time, and puts them in his inside coat pocket.

He remains standing, unless Mrs. Lee resumes her seat, in which case he sits as well.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Everything okay?

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

”What happens if we encounter one of these relatives who decides to show up early?” Joey asks. ”Do you want us to abort the mission, flash a badge and tell them we are looking for classified government documents, or do you want us to take care of the potential security threat and clean the site?”

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"I'm good," Joey says in reply. "As long as I'm not called on to fire a Stinger or one of those big-ass fifty cal sniper rifles, anyway."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Pretty close! Joey's skin tone is a little lighter than in the render, maybe half a shade darker than Dana at the most would be my only critique.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey takes a seat when instructed by the Comptroller.

He listens carefully to Ms Lee, and glances at his companions. Sounds like the same stuff Vito said when I was brought in. Looks like I’m in two Families now. Glad I’m paid current on the life insurance.

”No M’am,” Joey replies.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Hiya doin' Dana. I'm Joe," Joey says, offering the doctor his hand. "Is this all of us? It seems our new boss's runnin' late."

Joey checks his watch almost reflexively with the statement. He does not take a seat, but instead leans against the wall in one corner of the room, opposite the door.

At the mention of curses, Joey makes a small sign of the cross, followed by a gesture resembling the 'devil horns' enthusiastically raised skyward by heavy metal music fans. Instead of raising the 'horns', however, he points them downward towards the floor.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

How's it going with the cold?

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

”A pleasure, Miss Law,” Joey replies in a respectful tone. He pulls out a chair for her , and with a gesture, offers her the seat.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey smiles and returns Joshua's firm handshake. "Joshua," he says, with a nod.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

"Hi. The name's Renda, Guiseppe Renda, but no one's called me Guiseppe since my Nonna passed. Joe or Renda is fine. So, I guess we're a team now, at least for whatever the RCMP's currently got cookin'."

Joey moves towards the table, but doesn't sit.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

The watch and ring aren't that important for a full body sketch, especially if its just for a side-by-side group portrait. I was just noting things someone might notice when they meet him.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Joey is 5'10" (about 178 cm) and 165 lbs. (about 75 kg). He has a medium build (lean and fit, but not noticeably muscular), dark brown hair, a light olive complexion (tanned, but not dark), and brown eyes. He typically dresses in a charcoal gray business suit. He wears a wedding band and water-resistant, shockproof wrist watch.

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Right on time, Joey muses to himself when the parcel arrives, recalling the private conversation he had with Don Vito Rizzuto less than a week ago. The Government is worried about what we stumbled across; worried enough that they took Vito's deal. It looks like I'm going to be officially working for the RCMP. "Heh," He chuckles to himself at the thought, considering he has been spending the last few years trying to keep the RCMP from knowing anything about what he and the Rizzuto family were up to.

He takes a moment to look at the government ID. Nice. Reminder to self, take note of the watermarks for future reference. RCMP fakes've gotta be a lucrative side business.

He puts the money and ticket in his safe for now, and the ID in his billfold. After memorizing the meeting location and time, he dutifully follows the instructions and uses the burn bag to destroy the letter and other now-disposable documents.

"Connie," he says in a loud, carrying tone. "Connie, hon, I have business in Calgary in a couple days. I fly out tomorrow night." When he used this tone, she knew exactly what he meant by business and that it was better she didn't ask. Ignorance of such things kept her and the kids safe. "I'll call you when I can, so you know I'm okay, but just in case, I'll make sure the bills are paid up before I go, including the life insurance."

Joey spends the remainder to the day and the next taking care of personal affairs. He makes sure all the bills are paid, as promised, and makes a point of spending quality time with Connie and the kids including going to see James and the Giant Peach, followed by a stop at the ice cream parlor.

The last thing he does before heading to the airport is to stop by the church and give his confession to Msgr. Igino and to ask for his blessing, mentioning that he may be coming face-to-face with the Devil himself within the next few days.

The evening of April 25th, Joey flies out of Trudeau International and lands in Calgary a little over 4 hours later. He checks into a hotel near the airport, and does his best to get some rest. He checks out the next morning as late as possible, grabs some breakfast at a local diner, and catches a cab into the city. Having a few hours to kill before the meeting, he decides to take the opportunity to visit the Heritage Park Historical Village. Dressed in his tailored suit, he probably stands out more than he would like, but what was more incongruous was the boy-like expression of joy on his face as he looks at the steam engine, the roundhouse, and the smithy.

Alas, all good things must come to and end, as he realizes he needs to get to his meeting. He takes the C-Train to 7th Avenue, and then walks to his destination.

Entering the building at 1:53 PM, he approaches the guard and the front desk and says, "Hiya. Renda. Guiseppe Renda. I have an appointment with the Comptroller at two." He reaches into his inner coat pocket and retrieves his billfold, pulls out his RCMP ID, and holds it out to the guard. "It's my first day, so if I'm messin' up the protocol, be a pal and let me know, 'kay?"

@Daniel Stewart:

Am I correct that the campaign starts with us having gone through training and orientation together, and that we have already been designated as all members of one team?

So, when we meet up in Calgary, we won't be meeting as strangers, but more like newly a trained unit of soldiers about to experience their first deployment?

Daniel Stewart wrote:

You can do either...rolling or using the stats or point buying is an option too. I like the background and the character!! Has lots of built-in bonds.

trawets71: To make your demolitions man, take perhaps the police or military main background then add your bonus skill points to demolition. See rule below:

Choose Bonus Skills
Pick any eight skills and add 20% to each of them. You can increase a skill more than once but none can be higher than 80% to start. Put excess points on another skill.

This should allow you to customize your character into a position that you are looking for....I hope!! lol

Could the bonus points be used to choose a second foreign language? I was thinking that along with English and Italian, my character might know a little bit of Quebecoise French that he's picked up here and there (about 20% worth). Not fluent by any stretch, but enough to catch a relevant word or phrase here and there, or to ask a question or make a request in very simple terms.

"Umm, I can watch the shop," Rosella offers. "I know you don't know me, but I swear I won't steal anything, and I'll do my damnedest to make sure no one else does either." She looks at Kata with a sad smile, then back to Venelle. "Kata was Caith's friend, and this business with her bones and restless spirit can't have been easy for her. Unless I've missed my guess, I figure she wants to be there when Caith is put to rest. I didn't know Caith, and I'm not a local, so I doubt the ghost would care if I was there or not."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

Inside Allustan's:

"I wouldn't mind trying to befriend the magpie, once that creepy
Seeker-eyeball-thing has been removed,"
Rosella replies to Allustan. "But talking to it right now gives me the heebie-jeebies."

Male Human Agent (criminal) HP: 13/13 I WP: 13/13 I SAN: 65/65 I BP: 52

At Allustan's:

Rosella stands quietly, observing and listening, but not participating in the conversation. I should've gone with Broccan or Erdukk, or somewhere on my own for a bit. I feel like a Pig in the Prince's Garden in here.
