Guides-The-Pack has a problem. He is in love.

He started off life as a curious cub, eager to explore and play as any youngling. But his youth ended faster than the average when half of his pack, including his mother, was slaughtered by human hunters. On the run even as they mourned, the pack travelled through unfamiliar lands, and over time Guides-The-Pack found himself thrust into a leadership position as his skills in finding food for a wolf pack in foreign territory were called upon time and time again. One night, his packmate, Moonbiter, brought a strange, russet colored wolf to run with the pack for a time. As resources were already stretched, this stranger took up the omega position without complaint, although he seemed to watch Guides-The-Pack very closely, as if expecting him to do something unusual.

Not long after this stranger's appearance, human hunters fell upon the pack again, and although the alpha commanded them to scatter and reform at a safer place, with a half moon hanging high in the sky, Guides-The-Pack flew into a rage he had never felt before and threw himself at the attackers, fighting on two legs instead of four. The stranger seemed to be waiting for this very moment, and joined him in slaughtering the humans in a parody of their two legged form. When the pack was safe at last, the stranger explained that he was Garou, just as Guides-The-Pack was, and that he had to leave the pack to take his rightful place in the world.

Relocating to a sept only somewhat far from his pack's hunting grounds, Guides-The-Pack found that life as a Garou agreed with him. Not only did he learn the litany with a speed usually reserved for homid prodigies, he learned that he was the direct descendant of a great Red Talon hero named Startooth, and that his leadership skills and grasp of pack tactics had already garnered a good reputation among the Garou of the sept. He seemed destined for great things indeed.

When he discovered that the sept was having trouble delaying the investigation of the human hunters that had slain so many of his pack, Guides decided to see to the final fate of one of the mounties himself, to add some glory to the honor he had already gained as a philodox. Picking one name at random, he sought the human female out. But when he saw HER...her mottled(freckled) hide, her flame kissed(red) hair...the way she spoke eloquently when defending her human litany...It spurred feelings in him he never knew. What began as a night or two of observation turned into genuine surveillance, and he began to take his hated homid form on more and more to simply spend more time in her presence. And when she saw HIM...the bedraggled man in mismatched clothes, with a body to die for and a musk that made him seem more primal than homeless...even as she informed him of the laws against stalking, she couldn't deny that she was more than a little attracted to him. Intimacy came quickly. And repeatedly.

Now, Guides-The-Pack is scared. Not just for his life, but for the life of the human woman he has come to love. His tribe would kill them both if they knew, to say nothing of the sept's elders. It is so very, very wrong...But the woman's name is Gaia...and she is something of a philodox herself. Is this not some kind of sign? So far, when he disappears on Sundays to spend time "communing with Gaia", noone seems to care too much. But he knows that the day will come that his presence is noted, and when he will have to choose between the world of the Garou and the world of the humans. Or at least, this one.
