Horrified that the brute might start popping his companions into its mouth like The Rampant Roach's delicious toasty roach snacks fly into his own mouth, Griot lets the magic lose. "When Helba's Heroes are under attack, what do we do? Stand up, Fight back!" At the end of the chant 3 glowing bolts fly into the oghoul.

Surival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Griot squints at the trails in the dust. "Looks like we're on the right path to find Vampirella." Moments later he is taken aback by the size of the ghoul. "Best if we can just get by that thing. I'll try and chase it off." Griot dances around behind the front line, brandishing his shield with the symbol of St. Helba. "Ho-ho! Hey-Hey! We don't need your stink today. Ho-Ho. Hey-Hey! Best you go the other way!" Turn undead Will DC 12

Griot frowns once Kwarrel/Quarrel leaves. "Well, I was really looking forward to a meal at the Roach and some sleep. I hope it's a decent breakfast at least." He yawns. "One thing is for sure, I'm not heading down there again until I get some sleep." Griot curls up in a comfortable spot and is asleep before Khanol finishes his tale.

Griot shakes his head furiously, "Oh Shining Scaled Paragon of Kobolds. we have not found the city guard to be the least bit sympathetic to our plight and we would certainly not want to tip our hand so to speak if someone on the city council is involved in this. Your wise and generous offer to have the passage cleared while we recover at the Roach is certainly the best way forward."

Griot squints at Croaker. "I think the meeting between Lady F. and Kreul the Ghoul discussed in the letter is the one that we interrupted. I am remembering that "Lady of Tears" is another name for Hecate. Dumah thinks that the Vandemic mentioned in the note might have something to do with the head of the City Council."

Griot bows low, "Great King Koto Crag-claw, we have returned rom the crypts scarred and sorely wounded by what we encountered there, but we do have some evidence that may be of use. We found a ghoul lord and possibly a vampire lady engaged in a clandestine meeting beneath an image of Hecate. We slew the ghoul and found this note upon his body." Griot bows low again and beckons his companions to reveal the note.

Griot looks sideways at Khanol. "A literal or figurative dagger in the back?" he asks as he inspects the wound again to see if there is anything broken off inside it. Medicine: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 "Yes, I think it's a curse. I told you that the wound is marked by that evil sigil Croaker was going on about. You cut yourself on that obsidian shard sticking out of a casket. Let's look for it on the way out." here's the info from the DM (couldn't link to the post):

Actually, I looked back and the kobold king has some gold and pipes for us when we report back. He might have more information on undead sneaks in the city. Do we want to take care of that before the Roach or Roach first? Griot is waiting for Dumah to explain his council comment. We could prob use an NPC list on the campaign tab when you have time DM.

I'm assuming my 17 religion roll applies to these Griot coughs a little at the cloud of dust that races past from the cave-in. He nods at Dumah's offer. "I'm sure St. Helba appreciates your support and I will certainly recommend you all to our supervis.. um, contact, Clotch. I'd like to know how you got that dragon magic though, Dumah." Griot chuckles as Croaker reads the note aloud. "Ha.ha. Kreul the ghoul, that's goofy. Now this is interesting. The Red Mother AKA Marena is a nasty goddess of lust and death worshipped by ghouls and vampires and with all the talk about hungry wolves and lambs, it may be that our kidnapped victims ended up in someone's belly."

Griot is impressed that the freely bleeding and staggering crowman somehow bullseyes the ghoul with a blast. "That's worth keeping you around, Croaker," he mutters and casts a healing word for the nearly croaked corvidian. heal up: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Griot is relieved that only skeletons come out of the tombs. He steps back into the room and targets the one on Lorr with a poorly aimed bolt of bone-cracking cold. bolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5; cold and slow: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Griot looks offended that ratman has appropriated the face of a dragon, but he doesn't pause to potentially get stuck between a pair of ghouls. He fires off a blue bolt at the visible ghoul upfront and steps back through the door to look for a place to hide. bolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16; cold and slow: 1d8 ⇒ 7 into zone 2 I guess? it's unclear what I could hide behind in this room.

I was initially thrown off by Zone 1 also. I had to go back to the discussion. Zone 1 is 10-30 feet. Zone 0 is in melee/contact. I had to adjust from PF and all the AoO stuff involved with that. 5e handles it differently.

"That cat bangle has an enchantment on it, Croaker. Let me see that dried bat again, too." I think I checked a previous bat, but it was inconclusive. Also, it sounds like Khanol's wound doesn't have anything to do with the weird rune Croaker and I saw in the alley, is that right? Griot sniffs at Lorr. "You're not a man. You're a Dragon."

Griot clears his throat. "Croaker, focus. There is a scratch on Khanol's shoulder and it looks sort of infected, but not naturally infected. It looks magical, like a curse maybe? Do you all remember that rune in the alley? I think possibly it has something to do with that..." He frowns at Croaker in thought. "If we have some time, I can pray to St. Helba to reveal any magic present- to inspect Khanol and the items we found. Just in case." Cast detect magic as ritual

Griot ponders Khanol's shoulder. "When did it start itching?" he asks. He grimaces at the squishing of the li'l spiders, but better that than more big spiders. He looks at the newcomers. "Any ideas on the whereabouts of the kidnap victims? I'm beginning to think the tombs here are a dead end. Deader than most actually."

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Griot spins as he hears something behind them. "Do you all hear that? Do big spiders hum lullabies? I am getting even more creeped out" Griot makes sure that there are larger folks between him and the humming.

Griot gives his fellow dragonkindred a look of concern wondering if he's healthy as he's not currently displaying anything like the cat-like grace typical of a true dragon. His musing is quickly interrupted by more creepy corpses in motion. He points a finger muttering a chant as a freeze ray shoots forward and he scoots 10 feet farther from the zombies. ray: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11; cold and slow: 1d8 ⇒ 8 I'm not sure I understand the description of the cocoon. Griot looks concerned when Croaker puts the thing in his pouch, but leaves it for now to follow the noise to the threshold of the room. He shakes his head wondering if this is related to the crunchy bat's curse and does his own version of chill metal on the clunking hedgehog impersonator.
