Greist follows, trying his best to be quiet. He looks around, then says into Gyn's mind, "Looks clear to me, my friend."

"An excellent way to name things, friend. Well done, Gyn. I am glad we didn't have to fight them." Greist smiles as he watches the trio scamper off.
Greist steps out from where he'd sought cover. Sword in hand, but pointed towards the ground, he says to Jellik, "Are they intelligent enough to communicate, do you know?"
Geist tries to conceal himself as best he can behind some bushes, keeping his starfire blade low, but ready.
Greist nods at Jellik. "Caution is prudent. Please, do lead on."
Greist looks around at his friends, then nods once, his expression grim. "Stars guide us to victory." he murmurs, as he checks over his gear.
Greist nods at Alorea. "Agreed. I would like to prioritize saving Cedona and the other colonists. Once they are safe, we can figure out what needs to be done from there, and the Azlanti will have less to bargain with."
Greist stands quietly alongside Gyn as the ysoki speaks to the man they rescued. He still has his sword in hand, but it is lowered, tip just barely touching the ground next to his leg. After a moment, he speaks. "Also, are you alright? My friend's questions are important, and we would like answers to them, but take a moment if you need to, to collect yourself. Being in a life and death situation is stressful, moreso if you haven't been prepared for such things." Having said this, he smiles at the man, attempting to reassure him.
Just FYI, I will be out of pocket for just over 24 hours, at a Cub Scout campout. Feel free to use me for whatever nefarious purposes come to mind. I'll be back to posting tomorrow.
Greist steps up to the remaining soldier, sweeping his blade up from the ground, moving low and across his foe's centerline.
Greist moves quickly around the side of the rocks, rushing out to face their assailants. He brings his glowing blade up and across, in a diagonal slash, but his movement throws his form off, and he swings wide.
Greist yells, "Take cover!" and runs due west, placing the rocks between him and the shooters. He closes his eyes, concentrating for a moment.
Greist stands alongside Ainsemseo, content to let his friend do the talking. His expression calm, he watches the other figures as they approach. In the stars there is peace. In the stars there is chaos. The stars are the primal forge of creation, and the cold fury of destruction. The stars are within me, as I am within the stars.
Greist's brow furrows slightly in concentration, and suddenly the glowing mote in his hand changes shape, elongating and thinning out until what remains is a long, slender sword made of scintillating energy in his hand. He lowers the sword to his side, and waits for the runner to approach.
Greist also dons his armor and collects his things, checking his sidearm and the items in his pack. As they walk, he notices the movement as Alorea calls it out. "Agreed.", he murmurs. "There is definitely someone running over there." He reaches up and pulls his mote to his hand, but does not call upon it yet.
"Agreed. A walk would be welcomed, and give us a chance to assess the situation further." Having said this, Greist stands from the weapons console and stretches, rolling his head gently from side to side, then closes his eyes. The mote floating around his head flares for a moment. Greist's eyes open, and he smiles. "Shall we, then?"
Greist returns Alorea's hug. "And you, my friend." He looks around, smiling. "To all of us, really. Nicely done, all. We're alive, and they are presumably not. So well done."
Sparing a smile for Alorea, Greist moves the laser control stick again, focusing on the HUD as he lines up a shot.
Greist checks the HUD, making a quick adjustment as he lines up a shot. Squeezing the trigger, he lets out a breath, only to swear as the shot goes wide, the enemy ships sliding out of the way before he can compensate.
Ah, sorry... when I saw your post mentioning that you turned a turret, I just assumed I could do the same. Apologies! Ignore than roll! :D
Yeah, thanks for the reminder, Gyn. I'll keep that in mind going forward.
Greist takes a deep slow breath. Expression calm, he focuses on the HUD for the laser system as he tries to line up another shot. "Almost... there." He squeezes the triggers again, sending another burst of scarlet energy towards their pursuers.
"Right... let's see what we can do." Greist sits down, taking control of the lasers. He flips a switch, adjusting a dial as he moves the control stick. "I think that should do it..." He squeezes the trigger, and you hear the ships lasers fire.
Greist steps forward to look at the display. "You could be right, but I am not certain. It'll be interesting to see what they want with us."
Greist smiles as he watches Cubbers and Alorea. "Indeed, it will be nice to see her and catch up a bit. It's been some time." He looks at his datapad again. "If this is correct... it says there's a fog on parts of the planet that can carry a mild electrical charge. Interesting."
Greist looks up from a datapad as Alorea and Gyn enter the bridge, a smile forming. "Hello, you two. Exciting news, eh?" As he says this, the mote orbiting his head flares briefly. "I'm looking forward to seeing some trees, among other things." He leans against a bulkhead, smiling at Alorea's excitement.

So, this is my second SF game, and the last one mostly stayed planetside. That said, if there are any changes I can make to help out more on the ship side, I am open to suggestions.
I agree. My vote is for the Drone, if we go stock. I am not as well-versed on ship design, so I'll defer to the group there.
Being a gunner suits me fine, unless someone else wants to do it. |
