About Great Mastiff

Appearance:
At first glance, Great Mastiff appears to be some manner of rough humanoid construct, perhaps an intriguing variation of 'living' clockwork. Upon closer inspection however, particularly in bright light, you realize you can almost see through him...
And there is a young boy inside!

Background:
Grey was unsure how long 'they' had been running. Certainly since he & Great Mastiff had found one another, but whether that was only a few hours or 'til nearly pre-dawn he could not say.
So much had happened in just a few short hours. Once the Lady no longer required him, he was allowed to make his way to his cot in the house slave's quarters, after he had stripped the house clothes off first of course, those were worth almost more than he was. At least, that was what 'First' was always telling him.
Tonight he had wanted a bath though, he always felt the need for one after the Lady had one of her 'moods', but this time he had actually enough time to take one, if he didn't dawdle. In the slaves baths was where it happened. At first he was afraid one of the Lady's 'visitors' might be present, the 'touch' was similar.
Similar, not the same. This 'touch' didn't make him want to retch 'till his insides were outside.

Not that it much mattered. Grey's resemblance to a human child, first seeming to be a blessing, was rapidly becoming...
something else, as he could tell the direction the Lady's thoughts had been turning of late. Better to flee before she put thought to deed. Hastily agreeing, Grey was utterly unprepared for what came next.
Reality about him seemed somehow off as though he was looking at things from a different angle in some way. Then everything was suddenly...
Smaller?! The darkness was now merely a faint patina, blurring colors but nothing else. He raised his hands to find his arms now burly, armored rods of corded muscle. Muscle that was somehow translucent? When he held his hand between his face & one of the few torches in the hallway he could faintly make out what must be the skeletal framework within. Hearing a sound from beyond the hall, Grey realized there was no time to continue this self-examination. By his actions, he had removed himself from what few 'protections' his 'servitude' allowed him & placed himself firmly in the category of 'threat'. Best now to flee while the advantage was still his.

Near dawn, exhaustion finally overtook Great Mastiff, as Grey had taken to calling 'themselves' during the few moments he had allowed 'them' to stop & catch 'their' breath. He didn't know the land well enough to be certain, but he believed 'they' were nearer the Andoran Border. It would still be weeks away hiding & walking. To say nothing of the fact that it was Cheliax's most heavily patrolled border, particularly for escaped slaves. But for now, he was free!
Free to collapse from exhaustion.

He awoke the next night, his old self again. Somehow he had managed to drag himself, only semi-conscious, into a pile of leaves in the deeper forest.

'Great Mastiff?'

'yes'

'You were gone. I was afraid you had abandoned me.'

'your will binds me existence...'
'pushes when your will no longer binds me i go'

'So when I sleep you go back to wherever you come from?'

'...'
'yes'

The next innumerable days were much the same. Great Mastiff would travel during the night, Grey would sleep, hidden, during the day. They would pause only to find food & water, or to avoid the ever-present patrols of the hell-on-earth that was Cheliax.
Surprisingly, they never knew when they passed through the Andoran border until they were well clear of it & accosted by an Eagle Knight patrol. The exchange was short, direct & surprisingly violent. Great Mastiff knew then 'they' would find little welcome in Andoran.
Welcome would finally come when they made their way to Taldor, a manner of welcome at least.

Share Spells: Grey can cast spells with a target of 'you' on Great Mastiff instead of on himself if he chooses, he may cast spells on Great Mastiff even if they would not normally work on an Outsider.
Fused Link: Whenever the temporary hit points from Great Mastiff would be reduced to 0 from damage, Grey may, as a free action, sacrifice a number of his own hit points instead, preventing Great Mastiff from being 'killed' & sent back to his own plane.
Evasion
