The aliens in Blindsight manage to do that as well.
The main characters only find out later that they are non-sentient....

First of all, glad these guys are still there.

Second, I just had a chilling idea regarding them. One suggestion as to their goal is said to be the extermination of all sentient life....

I recently read "Blindsight" by Peter Watts, a hard S-F novel,

Spoiler:
that describes the encounter with a highly advanced species that is in actuality non-sentient and considers the broadcasts it received from earth to be an attack as they convey no information useful to survival (as they canot have thoughts, reflections and emotions as we understand them)...

It postulates that intelligence can exist without sentience to accompany it and might even be more effective as consciousness takes up a lot of brainpower.

Not sure I agree with that but still, a fascinating idea...

Now, what if, for all their intelligence, the things and the overlords of the Dominion of the Black were not truly self-aware?

What if they instinctively consider sentience to be an aberration, an abomination that needs to be wiped out?

There you go!

It's out on Drivethrurpg...19,95 :)

Then I will be waiting eagerly...any info on the price?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Will you make it available on Drivethrurpg as well?
Looking forward to it, especially the legacy classes...might be fun to play a character from a "standard" fantasy world thrust into the wider universe...

I have to agree with the above posters. For months, you good folks at paizo have hyped up the game and made us salivate over it - which is a good thing.

Now, given that player feedback can be gauged rather effectively these days, this dilemma was to be expected but apparently, no one took it into account or tried to prevent it.

I am at my 6th download attempt and there is no telling when I will get the product that I paid for. Slow downloads I could deal with, then i could at least download at night. But the downloads keep failing, often after I already spent two to three hours downloading.

And to simply shrug and say " yeah...can't do anything about it, it's your problem" is not exactly good customer service given that you already got our money.

In short...I really would like to get this book before the weekend is over, given that I already paid on Thursday, thank you very much.
